Self sealing inner tube saves the day :)

Woooo, the tyre held pressure overnight and on return from a 15 mile ride. Marathon Plus tyres and slime tubes must come a very close second to tubeless tyres. This combo is definitely worth considering if you need reliable puncture protection. Still worth taking a mini pump along too though...

Self sealing inner tube saves the day :)

It goes to show, Schwalbe Marathons plus slime tubes, really do make a great partnership. If the tyre pressure hasn't dropped by tomorrow, then I'm just going to leave things be.

Self sealing inner tube saves the day :)

    That's encouraging as it's a slime filled tube that's on there :)

Self sealing inner tube saves the day :)

Out on a ride today, I was aware of an unusual sound which presented itself on every revolution of the rear wheel. On closer inspection, I noticed a stick on the tyre that was hitting the mudguard. Thinking it was stuck on with the mud on the tyre, I stupidly pulled at it and the next thing I...

How long should a chain last on a E-MTB

Why not check it yourself, just to be absolutely certain. The tool to do this is very cheap and the procedure easy to carry out: Chain wear indicator tool

Best retro fit mid drive unit

I've repacked the grease in the final drive a few times already. I meant about pulling the whole drive assembly out of the housing. Were the thrust bearings ok, as some people experience them breaking up upon removal? Mine's on 3300 miles.

I think gluing the thing back together is going to end in tears. Even if it does work satisfactorily, I don't reckon it'll be a long term fix. Time to bite that electric bike bullet and stump up the 60 quid for a proper fix. I've yet to open her up and pull out the final drive. Easy job?

That's a shame, not like the good old days. I blame Brexit :p It's getting to be the same with cars. Used to pay a tenner for a wheel bearing. Now they all seem to be incorporated into the hub assembly and you have to buy the whole lot. Kerching kerching :(

They must have changed their delivery policies. It used to be based on weight, so you could add a few cheap, lightweight parts and not pay any extra in postage. It was handy for adding nuts, bolts, bearings etc, that you might have needed sometime in the motor's life.

Best retro fit mid drive unit

Electric bikes have never been a cheap hobby, although my wife thinks it is ;) Seriously though, I don't think you would find as many spare parts for other manufacturer's products, than you can for the Bafang. £60 isn't too bad considering that's delivered. Plus you get a brand new clutch and...

I would double check with the seller though, to make sure it comes with the sensor ring. Also, it might be worth browsing through their parts list and buying any other spares you think you could need in the future. Parts are usually cheap, but postage can be expensive for small items, so pile...

How tough are rear hubs off road ?

Totally agree with d8veh and Woosh. To maintain the riding feel of your bike, fitting a crank drive and positioning the battery inside the frame triangle, is the only way to achieve this. Plus, if you encounter any very steep slopes on your ride, a hub motor will struggle to provide the low...

Which parts are you after? When I've researched spares, as a just in case scenario, I managed to source virtually everything. Is it a BBS01, BBS02 or BBSHD?

I use a Dremel 3000 on quite a few different tasks. It's definitely very powerful and I don't think you'll be disappointed.

How tough are rear hubs off road ?

I tried a few years ago, and the only issue I was getting was the odd spoke breakage. It's important to make sure all the spokes are tensioned properly and on a regular basis. I switched to Bafang mid drive, purely for the fact that I wanted to tackle the really rough stuff, without the worry...

Do the cops care about illegal eBikes?

I think we've gone way off the thread's topic here, which isn't fair on the OP. Mostly my fault, sorry Alan. If someone wants to open up another thread, then that's great, but I'm nipping my contributions in the bud ;)

Do the cops care about illegal eBikes?

Thing is, does anybody really know what a suitable punishment for a child is. Banishment from using an Xbox, Playstation, or iPhone, usually lasts much longer than a smack. Who knows if this type of punishment has a worst psychological effect than a smack, pain gone in 10 minutes scenario.
