Frog battery on front of Tern folder

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't really want a rack mount.

Frog battery on front of Tern folder

Hi I'm at the point of considering what battery to use on my Tern Link P9 folder. I had thoughts of mounting it on top of the frame, which wouldn't interfere with the fold and I also have the option of a bottle battery, using the lugs already there. I'm toying now with using a Frog battery...

    Tern Link front forks

Delighted to report that the D8 steel fork fits the P9 perfectly. My bike guy told me that it was an easy swap. As the bike was delivered with a puncture today was the first opportunity to ride it. I only rode a mile or so back to my office but I was extremely impressed with the ride quality...

    Tern Link front forks

Hi I've just taken delivery of my new Tern Link P9 with the intention of fitting a front electric hub. I ordered a steel front fork at the same time. This is for the D8 specifically but I hope it fits. I'll be bringing it to my bike mechanic later today. It looks like the fork will have to be...

Torque sensing build for Tern folder

Thanks Somehow felt I'd be OK once I'd switched to steel. I'd rather the fork bent rather than broke.

Torque sensing build for Tern folder

With it being my first build, I'm not inclined to have to do anything too complex so I may go front to keep things simple. Any thoughts on torque arms? I'll be keeping it to 250w.

Torque sensing build for Tern folder

Why is that? Surely it would be no different from riding a conventional bike?

Torque sensing build for Tern folder

Well after reading the replies and doing a bit of reading, I'm going to forget about torque sensing and just build a simple PAS + throttle. I've ordered a steel fork for the Tern so I can go front hub if I want. What would people recommend, front or rear power? I got advice from a US supplier...

    Newbie question about ebike derailleurs

Thanks Will have another look at mid drive before I make a final decision.

    Newbie question about ebike derailleurs

Well, I wouldn't quite call it nonsense! The first site I came to said not to do it, although logically it shouldn't really make a big difference. I'll keep mid drive in mind as I know it has some advantages. Will the Tern still fold nicely with the BBS installed - has anyone done it? I'll count...

    ebike conversion kit import price?

S12S Controller S Series led/lcd $34 S-LCD3 $29 BPM2 36V350W FRONT DRIVING E-BIKE MOTOR WHEEL wheel $134.88 Battery $179 €406 It was a torque sensing controller and the battery is the bottle design. Ciclotek are a bit more expensive than I said as I'm taking into account that I can get the VAT...

    ebike conversion kit import price?

Try this crowd too: http://www.ciclotekstore.eu/b2c/productos/1/2/1/ebike-motor-kits/1 They're based in Spain and offer free shipping. Very responsive to all my queries so far. I presume you're talking about BMS Battery? I specced up a similar kit and ciclotek are maybe €50 dearer. As against...

    Newbie question about ebike derailleurs

I don't think that would be too workable. Besides, the BBS01 is not supposed to be used with a nine speed derailleur. The info on their site says that as they're narrower than normal, the chain can wear quickly.

    Newbie question about ebike derailleurs

It's weight primarily. I'll have another look but I reckon a mid drive would be a bit heavier, albeit at the bottom of the bike. Would the BBS01 or 02 fit on the Tern?

Torque sensing build for Tern folder

Final question for tonight. I've put together a set of components from BMS Battery: A torque simulation sine wave controller, display, battery and 20" front hub. I'm back to front drive as I can change the forks to steel for little more than the cost and weight of two torque arms. I've asked BMS...

    Newbie question about ebike derailleurs

Thanks for that. It looks like it's a lot more complicated than I thought. I had a brainwave and I can get a steel fork for the Tern that I'm thinking of using. It doesn't cost much more than the two torque arms I was going to put in and it weighs just 220g more than the aluminium item, which I...

    Newbie question about ebike derailleurs

Hi Probably a stupid question. If I buy a 20" rear wheel prebuilt with a motor, is it guaranteed that my original 9 speed derailleur cassette will fit? I'm talking specifically about a Tern Link P9. Is there any spec I need to look out for? TIA

Torque sensing build for Tern folder

Just an addition I've just come across a Torque simulation controller on BMS Battery. Any good? I've also come across Cycle Analyst V3, which, with a torque sensor fitted to the crank, should also should do the job.

Torque sensing build for Tern folder

Hi I want to build an ebike using a Tern Link P9 2014. This has a 20" 9 speed derailleur setup. I want to keep the weight as light as possible, so a mid-drive kit isn't the way to go. Besides, I won't be tackling huge hills. Because the forks are aluminium, I want to mount the motor in the...
