Crank drive pedelecs: chain wear and maintenance

I've never suffered any wear issues from the 11t sprocket and don't see it as being too small for my use. My drive train also runs as smoothly as a crank drive is ever going to. A definite clonk between each change. Are you sure that you rear mech hanger hasn't been bent at some stage? All of...

Crank drive pedelecs: chain wear and maintenance

Mike, before you give up, watch the full length of this clip.

    Bultaco Brinco eBike

That is just so far removed from what I want or expect from a pedelec.

    Decisions, decisions... e-MTB

I'm keeping mine for a while yet. :) That was the figure that I feel that it's now worth. Things might change when I see the 2016 model range. ;) But to make you feel better, mine is the large frame size, and it is large. I'm 5'10" tall, with a 32" inside leg, but find that I struggle to find a...

    Decisions, decisions... e-MTB

Also funnily enough, I was having a chat today with a mate that owns a LBS about wheel sizes, offset, hub sizes and bottom bracket sizes. I've also been on a ride where there were three of us riding each common size, and have to say that the 29ner did creep away when we tried side by side...

I have mixed feeling about FS. I own both set ups, and yes the Fox set up on Macina GPS Plus is superb, and I'll try to post up a video later comparing a bumpy forest section that was ridden once on the FS and once on the HT. The FS was 11 seconds faster over the route ( currently don't have the...

Crank drive pedelecs: chain wear and maintenance

You can't blame the bike for that. ;) I also get through chains, brake pads and tyres at a rapid rate. The one and only cause being the rider. :) I don't have a photo to show stretch, but this is a typical old and new chain. As a chain related aside, it is always worth having at least...

    Kalkoff batteries again !

No idea about what's happened to it, but I wouldn't be keeping it indoors, and transporting it in a car could be just as dodgy.

    Kalkhoff Pro Connect. Impressive range.

Especially if momentum made you slip from the pedals and crack the crown jewels.

    Local Shop or Online?

Just referring to online sales, much would depend upon where you are looking. If you are looking at say Ebay at cheap Chinese unbranded bikes, then the possibility is that you could come unstuck when the seller disappears, or hasn't thought the thing through in respect of spare parts for the...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

There are too many variables that effect the overall mileage from a full battery charge. Wind, rain, mud, and lovely sunshine etc, each throw up different challenges. Then there is the terrain itself and elevation gain. Many of my rides are pretty steep, and often slippery. Start throwing...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

No idea I'm afraid. I Hardly ever use or need turbo, and just generally use either no assist, eco, or tour. Even doing this, it's a struggle to sometimes get past the mid thirties. If I use sport or turbo, I guess that would probably kill the battery after 20 miles of riding.

Richie Schley gets the beer on a ROTWILD

Who would have thought it. A Rotwild video that actually focusses on the bike.

Just had to have it !

Tim, I'm still waiting for both the money and the bike to arrive. With no bike to ride at all at the moment, and a bike related trip to the Swiss Alps coming up in three weeks time, please could you hurry things up. You can also pay me in either by Euro or CHF, I'm not really fussed either way.

Do these derailleur points needs to be lubricated?

No idea. :( I suspect that it is the riding conditions here, and is also why chains also wear out at quite a rate. The forest soil is very abrasive and has a sand surface on the very top, that is as fine as talcum powder. My pedal KTM mtb is now laid up as well. The dampers on the forks have...

News: Bosch announces 2016 e-bike system features

They certainly are a funny one. They have some lovely sleek design ideas, then some poor ones that look better suited to a Chinese throw away 50p bargain basement mtb. Then they let the whole thing down even further by often using low end components. Add poor/bugger all customer care, and what's...

Do these derailleur points needs to be lubricated?

My rear mech gets cleaned and sort of unintentionally lubed after pretty much every ride. I use MucOff and water to clean it down, then use an airline to dry it, spray with duck oil, use the airline again to blast it all clean, then wipe it over with a clean cloth. I get about 500-600 miles...
