103Alex, in relation to your gear changing issues, check that the inner cable is running freely and smoothly. If you haven't used the bike for a while, moisture can get trapped in the cable and make it stiff, so giving the effect of slipping gears when it releases itself. It's one of those...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Thanks for sharing that Phil, I think that I will pass on that one. :)

Pedal back brakes were where it was at. Now that wasn't the best designed braking system for a kid to own. I still have my copy of that book somewhere. :)

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

I hope that the photos of butterflies were better than the one of the cyclist. :D And what about this bit. "At the time he was riding a black and orange mountain bike, but is also thought to have a white bike with black trim." I suspect that there is much more to this story.

I thought that the idea was to get the braking out of the way before you reach the bend, then accelerate smoothly and cleanly around. It reminds me of when I was racing Supersport 400 and switched from racing a Suzuki RGV250, to a Honda RVF400. Although I had ridden 4 stroke bikes on the road...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

flecc, I'm hoping to get a second e-mtb sometime soon, and if you are in the Ashdown Forest area when the weather improves (spring onwards), I'd gladly take you for a ride in and around the area. Sticking to the permitted rights of way of course. :) Using the permitted routes, you can link...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

It's a bit of an odd one on Ashdown Forest, and the forest rangers aren't rumoured to be so bad. They take your photo and give you a verbal warning the first time, but I have never heard of anyone being prosecuted, and it's my understanding that legally, the conservators are on very shaky ground...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Family commitments meant that I couldn't make the ride above, but the poor weather conditions wouldn't had made it too enjoyable anyway. I opted to pop out this morning instead, and had what could be considered a very mixed 20 mile ride. I came off pretty heavily at the start of the ride...

    Brake Disc Sizes

Lesson of the day, don't fit new brake pads and go off roading without first seeing how the different compound reacts. This one hurt big time today, and was the first time that I was more concerned about myself rather than the bike. Odd how you can go over the handlebars, not let go, and then...

Electric Bike for Long Distance Cycle Touring

Phill, I assume that the distances quoted are a mix of assist and no assist? My old classic motor was certainly more efficient in relation to battery use than my current performance line motor. I would imagine that riding the terrain that I do, that I'd be lucky to get 20 miles from a charge if...

A larger brake disc will also run cooler.

Electric Bike for Long Distance Cycle Touring

Many thanks flecc, I shall take a read of those later. :) We also have this relatively recent thread on the forum as well. :) http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/lands-end-to-john-o-groats-unsupported.18004/ .

Electric Bike for Long Distance Cycle Touring

Interesting how someone's tough ride is another persons easy ride. The Eastbourne ride caught my eye and I read it with great interest. It certainly made for a very enjoyable read. I love reading other peoples riding accounts, so thanks for sharing those links flecc. :) Shame that more people...

Electric Bike for Long Distance Cycle Touring

Also another reason to keep the bike as light as possible by not having full suspension. You certainly won't see many, if any, full suspension touring bikes. I think that if I was after a touring bike, I'd ditch the e-bike idea altogether and just buy a Kona Sutra. :) The new Genesis Tour De...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

I'm not 100% certain if I am going to be able to make this one yet, but someone very kindly showed me another ride series yesterday to take part in. :) http://www.trailbreak.co.uk/trail_rides/index.php?go=eventinfo&event_id=150110

    Opinions on this bike please

With or without a dongle! :D I have just looked at my Ebay watch list, as there was a bike shop selling new Rockshox Reba forks, complete with a spare seal kit for £170.00. Clearly they wouldn't work with your brake option, but still a bargain price. Sadly they have now all sold out.

    Opinions on this bike please

My main negative comment would be that the front forks will probably be just like a bad pogo stick. I'd rather have no suspension, than cheap and heavy coil.

    KTM Corner

TK, the tubeless set up is now done, and interestingly filled one existing puncture hole straight away. :) I opted for Stans tape, Stans sealant, but used Swiss DT valves. Using the Stans valves would have meant having to drill the rim, whereas the Swiss DT ones fit without modification. :)...

    Dodgy Ebay Listing

I could be wrong, but I always thought that sellers automatically receive the winning bidders address/contact details at the end of an auction.

    A Timely Reminder.

I remove mine every time that I wash and clean the bike. :) You can't clean the underside of the saddle if it's still on the bike. ;) I also always use an anti seize spray on the lower three quarters of it, and always make sure that it isn't applied at the clamping point.
