Haibike SDURO Cross/Trekking vs Cube SUV Hybrid 2015

I rather like the look of the cube, and haven't seen that particular bike before. Like you, I'd rather not have the addition of cheap and nasty coil sprung suspension on a hybrid bike. Why add extra weight in favour of a questionable ride improvement. If only more manufacturers realised that...

    Brake noise

Chain lube is a bit a tough one, and they certainly vary from make to make. The wet lube that causes me the least issue in respect of build up of crap, seems to be the Muc Off one. The dry and ceramic lube are also very good. The worse thing that I did was to try acf50. Now that really wasn't...

    Brake noise

Sadly I think that the issue is that a high percentage of the area is made up of a very very fine sand. After it dries on the bike from a wet ride, it is like brushing away flour. It's really hard on brakes, chains and bearings. It just destroys everything. Chains don't last much longer than the...

Interesting Electric Road Bike with Bafang Mid Drive

Flat bars and hub drive and that would be just the kind of thing that I'd want. I quite fancy the idea of building something like that. I'm surprised that it isn't lighter than the stated weight though.

    Brake noise

Assuming that there is no disc contamination, switching from sintered pads to organic/resin brake pads will stop the noise. Bigclick, I'm already on my third set of pads on my bike, so I'm getting roughly 150 miles from a set. The standard Shimano pads with fins are stupid money, and I have now...

How do you warm up for a serious ride?

That's pretty much how I stay warm during a ride as well. :) You can't have a decent ride, without first having planned in a good refreshment stop.

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Kinninvie, I had thought about offering him a ride, but my frame size is the largest, and he was riding the smallest. The seat post doesn't really go down low enough to allow for short riders. Shame though. :( Croxden, My battery often drops half to one bar within the first mile of leaving the...

    Oxydrive kits

Thanks Ian, I really didn't want you think that I was being picky, I wasn't and think that the bike looks great. :) I'll have to try and give things some thought for you. Wires on anything are a complete pain the backside. A necessary evil. As said, this has been an interesting inspirational...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

No photos from todays 20 odd mile ride, but it was still an interesting one all the same. Someone from my home town started to follow me on Strava this week, then sent me a message suggesting a ride together. After exchanging details, today was the day, and after introductions we set off. I...

    EMTBcoaching - Alex Smith

Sorry I hadn't realised that your asking about counselling was a serious comment, and wasn't intended just to be read as a very daft one. "This is an ebike forum" not a counselling service. I simply offered the only real alternative that did not necessitate the carrying of a spare...

    Oxydrive kits

Got say it again baldylox, that is a nice looking bike. :) Not so keen on the handlebar end of Ian's set up, but the kit still looks very good on there. Ian, that wasn't meant as any criticism to you or the bike, so please don't think that is was. I just happen to prefer a more minimalist look...

    Cyclelife Electric Brighton & Hove

Good luck with the business venture. The shop front certainly looks very good. Sadly a lack of orange and black bikes though. ;) One important question...Do you have a coffee machine? Looks like we might have somewhere to ride to SRS. :) Handy for getting your Haibike sorted as well.

yet another example of how dangerous cycling can be.m

That's odd. The video clip that I watched this morning on FB was over 2 minutes long, and showed the van over taking the bike on a zebra crossing. It then spiralled downwards from there.

Even without the evidence of the cyclist, why can't action be taken against the driver. Start with overtaking on a pedestrian crossing, and just go from there.

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

I couldn't get on at work today, so figured that as I was rained off, I might as well go back out into it again for pleasure! The photos don't show it, but this 23 miles ride was very wet, very muddy, and hard but good fun.

    Battery/bike range test

One aspect of e-bikes that leaves a massive gap for variation of and much over estimating of, is a bikes useable and realistic assisted mileage range. An idea that has been bouncing around my head, is to try a few different power systems/bikes out over a set distance, using one power setting...
