    Shimano Steps vs Bafang Kit

On tight trails I ride regularly, I doubt throttle would work. Had one bad experience with throttle on open gravel trail, to much power and almost lost it. On a tight trail low gearing and lower power settings are way to go.

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

What ever you buy, just be careful that none of electrical cables will get damaged when sitting on rack. I had to reroute a cable on my wife's bike. Who ever designed bike didn't think how it would fit on a rack.

    Shimano Steps vs Bafang Kit

Bafang middrive kit will climb hills OK. The big difference is it's cadence sensing while STEPs is torque sensing. I tried both and end up buying Steps bike. The best thing you can do is try a bike with Bafang kit added. For serious MTBing which demands instant power delivery in technical...

    Woosh Bikes

Gore TeX rain coat and leggings, wellys, thermal underwater, good gloves. For bike Suntour NCX suspension seatpost, brilliant on rough surfaces and poor roads. The cheaper derailuer gear sets are not any less reliable than high end stuff for daily commutes. It is quality of shifting is were...

    Gears and Tyres

Most import is find cause of puncture, remove tube so it stays lined up with tyre. Once leak is found go back to matching location on tyre and look or feel for hole. Sometimes it is a bit of glass imbedded in tyre which can be hard to locate and remove. I always carry spare tube, don't muck...

    Gears and Tyres

Best thing you can do is try lots of different bikes. Hub drive, crank drive, derailuer gears (hard to avoid), hub gears. Most importantly different frame styles eg step though city, MTB, hybrid. At end of day frame is most important, drive system is secondary.

    Childrens ebike conversion

Have you consider towing her. See Tailgator, worked treat with my son and is surprising capable off road ie beginner MTB tracks. Of course you may need the ebike.

Motor: Crank Drive or Front Hub (because of Nexus preference)?

Shimano Steps with Shimano Di2 Alfine hub might be better option. Motor controller reduces power during changes plus alfine is better at changing under load than nexus. Other plus is drive system automatically selects low gear when stop for easy starts. There is also option of automatic gear...

Beat Bike Toba - any thoughts?

Unless your routes include a lot of hills, mid drive, likes of Bosch, Yamaha, Shimano should give you 40-50 miles on 400wh battery, at 8-10m/hr in eco mode. A 1hour charge while having lunch in cafe will add another 30-50%. There is also option of buying 1 extra battery give the pair of you...

    Scott E-bikes

Have you test Volt Infinity, uses Shimano Steps with Di2 hub. For commuting I can image the automatic change down to low gear when stop would be great. Di2 shift also makes for easy gear changes.

Range is also affected by rider weight.

There are two displays for E6000 STEP, don't why manufacturers are still using smaller one. The larger better display as been out since beginning of 2016.

Unbelievably bad experience with a Haibike SDURO Trekking S RX

Do yourself a favour and get set of Shimano brakes. Don't forget discs. M365 work fine on my MTB 1-2 finger operation, more than enough for trekking bike. http://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/shimano-disc-brake-br-m365-set-with-b01s-resin-533102/wg_id-272

I got my A2B Hybrid, and I'm hating it.

I'm mid drive fan, especially as MTB is my interest. Have tried cadence sensing hub drive with throttle, excellent commuter bike but hand full on loose surfaces.

I got my A2B Hybrid, and I'm hating it.

When it comes to comparing torque with cadence only sensing systems, I would recommend testing Bosch middive to show how best torque sensing works. This will give a good benchmark. Trying a cheaper bike with poorly setup system may give wrong first impression. Whisper Torque maybe good 2nd bike...

    Will e-bikes get cheaper?

The market is still young and has long way to go before it is saturated, so don't expect dramatic price drops. You may see Bosch prices dropping a bit, if latest eMTB reviews are anything to go by. Bosch CX set bench mark but Shimano E8000, Yamaha PWX and Brose have all caught up.

Cube Reaction Hybrid HPA Pro 500 27.5" 2017 - Electric Bike

It well spec MTB, but if commuting is all you intend for it a lower spec cheaper bike might be better. The 11spd is excellent for off road but is expensive to replace, while 9spd should last longer and be cheaper.
