    Ebike and scooter ban

I wonder how many pedestrians are killed, on the pavement, over there by motorists ? Enough to ban cars maybe?

    Ebike batteries

Lithium batteries are used in gazillions of portable devices. Is there much history of these devices directly exploding when dropped or knocked ? For sure if a lithium batttery is damadged in a collision the thermal runaway process might start which some time later causes a fire, but thats...

Health and Safety - Share Your E-Bike Battery Experiences & Recommendations

Exactly. The 20,000 figure quoted is a missleading statistic as all but a couple of members will know. First, there is no compulsion for any of those 20,000 members to report a battery fire. Second, to me it seem highly likley that a 'member' asking questions about batteries etc who then...

    Hi all

Indeed, I do wonder what the real number of actual active members, who post on a regular basis is, maybe a couple of hundread ? Also as far as I know there is no enforced legal compulsion for 'members' who may seek advice on here to post when things go wrong. So just because Joe Bloggs or...

    smallest viable battery..

The ones I tried came with a XT60 connector and I charged them through that with a standard charger of appropriate voltage. No problems with charge. However, I bought them as they were cheap and as a trial really. My conclusion is that I would not use them again, they degraded in capacity quite...

Big battery or small battery plus a spare?

Two batteries are good, you can alternate the charging use, and take both if you need longer rides. Plus your not completly dependant on one battery which you could forget to charge or it might develop a problem.

Longest I can recall in South Wales is Storey Arms in the Breacon Beacons to Brecon, but its only 7 miles or so.

5 separate punctures on a 14 mile journey home

Indeed if you average 19.5mph on a 'UK legal' eBike, then presumably the motor is off most all the time. Who needs an eBike ?

Cute Q70 motor for Brompton... which rim?

I bought a motor wheel for a Brompton from a large far East supplier. The rim fitted to the wheel was most definetly not the rim type I have on all my other Brompton wheels and a Continental Contact Urban tyre would not stay on the rim, although others such as a Marathon plus were OK. The...

    Is steel still good

Of the frame types, which is likley to be the easiest and cheapest to get repaired ? Does the average local bike shop have the equipment to repair modern frames ? In times gone past steel bike frames using Reynolds 531 tubing etc (sigh ... memories) were brazed with lugs so as long as you had...
