    Folding bikes

I take my Bromptons, I have an electric and non-electric, shopping, on public transport etc. It folds small and is easy to wheel around in shops etc, so its not left outside to be stolen. If your a long way from home and have a breakdown etc, just catch a bus, train or call a Taxi. I keep...

New to e-bikes, considering Brompton conversion.

I did a DIY conversion on a Brompton, I wanted it really light so it was OK to carry etc; Long build thread here; https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/ebrompton-build.45098/#post-677745

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

I asked if a minister on whim could change the law relating to electic bikes as in could a minister; Increase the legal speed limit of a pedelec ? Increase the power limit of a pedelec ? So you are suggesting that to make changes to these laws a 'Minister' can just write a letter ?

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

So what are the limitations of ministers deciding on a whim to change the law, could they ? Increase the legal speed limit of a pedelec ? Increase the power limit of a pedelec ? Permit parties in lockdown in 10 Downing street ?

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

I see the legal ones all the time, they are mostly in the majority. So I know it sounds completly and utelrly weird on this forum but I believe there are in the UK still at least a couple of people who believe being legal and sticking to the rules is good.

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

I maybe have missed something, is there a competition in process to see who can make the most offensive (political) post ?

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

Absolutly agree. Unfortunatly a lot people in society these days see law breaking as the norm and perfectly acceptable, plenty of examples of that in posts here. The common attitude is that of course 'serious' law breakers should be prosecuted, but 'minor' law breakers should not be 'persecuted'.

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

When I used to commute to college\work by cycle, from maybe the mid 1970s, to then stopping a few years and then using the Bromptom for train\work commute from around the year 2000, then of course I saw a lot of irresponsible riding. Whilst some of the daft stuff over those years put the cyclist...

Heartbroken family pay tribute to teen 'who loved going out with mates' after e-bike crash

Its very common for the 'laws apply to others' adults to come up with what they think are valid reasons why they are justified in breaking some, maybe many, laws. Not a good message to children though, since a lot of children do grow up to be adults.

Me ? A lot of public forums have rules like that, so just expect it.

The forum rules, that users agree too, seem clear; "You agree to not use the Service to submit or link to any Content which is defamatory, abusive, hateful, threatening, spam or spam-like, likely to offend, contains adult or objectionable content, contains personal information of others, risks...

    Why Ride Rad?

In the posted video someone says; "Though actually the motor is 500W"

    Why Ride Rad?

Indeed. But the video, which does promote the RAD, does not make clear whether its UK road legal.

    The 'next life'?

Whilst some of those 'lightweight' conversions might seem to be attractive, you can add a front hub motor, controller, PAS etc to a bike at around 2.25kg, plus battery. Is 2.25Kg a lot ? I dont think so. Could you save a 'lot' of weight with some form of fancy clip on motor ? I dont think...

Help! Building up from Swytch kit

I will be jumping on my eBrompton to go shopping later. Its got a Swytch front hub motor from a previous Brompton conversion, but I dumped the controller battery bag and fitted a standard KT controller and battery in a bag. LCD4 display. Standard PAS sensor on the chainwheel side.

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

Ambulance ? I have vague memories of them. Maybe they could be replaced by a Deliveroo collect and deliver service, their typical 'employees' would mostly already have bikes capable of towing a trailer.

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

Indeed, maybe the 'regulation' is already planned. Would the current lot in power be less than truthfull obout their intentions in order to appeal to the electorate ?
