    Battery Charging time

The charger for my Wisper has an input current rating of 1.5A @ 240v, and an output of 3A @ 42v, so I guess it may depend on the charger concerned?

    Battery Charging time

Going by Ohm's law, P=I*V, where P= power measured in Watts, I= current measured in Amps, & V=voltage in volts. You're inverter, at 240volts has a maximum current delivery of 1.25Amps (I=P/V). As most e-bike chargers are rated at around 2Amps, a 300w inverter would sadly not be up to the...

    first post! electric bike power

I'd say yes, as I used to do a similar distance commute from Crouch End to Covent Garden on an unpowered bike and regularly beat the tube/bus combination that was my alternative. Also, albeit out in Suffolk, my Wisper cut 10 to 15 mins off my current commute of 12.5 miles (as opposed to using...

    Wisper 905SE Sport

It sounds like the derailer endstops &/or gear indexing just needed to be set up properly, this is the same for every bike with derailer gears, regardless of component choice. I have replaced the chainring on my 905 for a larger version, and my chain will only fall off when the gears aren't...

    Advertisers

So you're saying that unlike everybody else, you're completely impervious to subliminal suggestion? I DON'T BELIEVE IT :) I once read that anybody could be convinced of anything, if subject to the correct stimulus, within three days (took about a week for that to sink in though...:D ).

How much have electric bikes improved?

With practice it's possible to use a twist throttle with sesitivity, but as you say the temptation is to simply hold it fully open all the time. I find myself feathering the throttle particularly when setting of in order to not stress the battery too much, and when trundling up to traffic lights...

My vote would be for WTB, I use the v-race pure, and find it very comfortable, and well made.

    Thumb throttles

Hi Nick, The button on the 905se's throttle is simply an easier way of turning off the electrics than doing it at the keyswitch on the battery, it could be considered somewhat superfluous, but it is rather handy to make sure you don't accidentaly twist the throttle when pushing the...

Tongxin v. Bafang v. cyclone v. wisper 905e noise levels

The Bafang, though being louder, certainly seems smoother, so to me would be a noise that's easier to ignore.

    Thumb throttles

Thanks, I'd imagine if you sent 36v down the control line that the controler might not like it too much! Forewarned is forearmed, as they say, and I shall certainly have a mutimeter on the end of my forearm! :D

    Thumb throttles

On the subject of thumb throttles, does anyone know where to get one with a level meter and a power button? As I'm considering trying one on my Wisper. Something like this would be ideal: Though obviously just the one :D I've tried a cursory search of German e-bike sites, using the search...

    A candidate for the "e" treatment ...

That's extraordinary! I like the fact that it doubles as a shopping trolley in the supermarket :D , means he doesn't have to lock it up outside! Genius!

Wiring Query - Wisper 905se Sport

If they're hanging out though, you'd best tuck themback in to the controler case to prevent them getting damaged/caught on anything :)

Wiring Query - Wisper 905se Sport

These are to disable the independant throttle when connected, this is required in some contries, thankfully not ours (yet). If you were to connect these wires, then the throttle would only work whilst pedaling, i.e. as part of the pedelec system.

Why not the choice of speed sensors on centrl crank motors?

If you culd find it :D I mean there's all sorts of ways to hide a car's immobiliser. As for on an ebike, what if it used the whole frame as an antenna? Your bike would look like a turkey ready for the roast! :D

Why not the choice of speed sensors on centrl crank motors?

For this path to work, the unit would need a map to put the GPS coordinates in context. Such a map would then require a means of update. All of which would vastly increase the cost of the controller. My statement earlier, while being somewhat tongue in cheek, was meant to provoke the...

Why not the choice of speed sensors on centrl crank motors?

And why not extend this to cars, people would still have all their beloved POWER available, just not beyond the speed limit ;)
