kalkhoff endevour bs10 or focus jalfira premium xt

The Focus is more an off-road bike, no mudguards etc for commuting. The BS10 would be better for commuting but it is of course not really legal for use in UK. The Kalkhoff Pro Connect is a good commuter bike with the same motor / battery as the Focus. Unless the cycle track you use is very rough...

looking to upgrade from cyclotricity stealth

The Focus bikes that 50Cycles do are worth a look. They use the same xion rear hub motor that's on the Pro Connect (see my review in the reviews section). They are reduced at the moment and even the top spec bikes just comes within your budget. http://www.50cycles.com/electric-bikes/all-terrain

New ebike magazine coming out on 23rd September

Yes I saw the Birdy article online (I still haven't received a hard copy - more production problems apparently) and was bemused. I was really interested in the electrified Birdy but when I spoke to the R&M guys at the NEC show they indicated trials had not gone well and they had given up on the...

    New Pedeleccer?

Welcome Matt. I look forward to hearing news on how you get on with the bike. The Pro Connect is a great bike but I don't think I'd take it off road up too many mountains.

Hi from West Sussex and London

The Electric Transport Shop (there is a branch in London) fit a Brompton kit (that I have). It does make the bike quite heavy to carry about on / off trains. You should still fit a laptop in the bag with the battery. http://www.electricbikesales.co.uk/ 'Nano' conversions are based further west...

Good evening and a big "thank you"

Welcome to the site Lone_ranger. I'm sure you will find the Kalkhoff an excellent purchase. Is it an Agattu that you bought? I used to live near Glasgow and very much enjoyed my few years up in Scotland.

    Juicy Classic

Pretty much as others have already said. The handlebar gauge just measures / indicates the voltage sag - under load it will go down to one or two lights even when fully charged but return to 4 lights when power draw is reduced. The lights on the battery normally indicate the nominal charge state...

    Advice on Commuter ebike

You might just get a Kalkhoff Pro Connect X24 within that budget if you're lucky and the offer is still open. Check out the 50cycles website.

Anyone had an interesting ride recently ?

Cycled to church this morning and this afternoon I was at Westward Ho! where we usually try and go on Christmas Day if we are at home. Not too cold and even a patch of blue sky on the beach.

    1st E-Bike advice

Roo-dog are new, saw them for the first time at this year's cycle show so there won't be many people with experience of them yet. As you noticed with the AVE you will be able to tell the difference in quality between the cheaper Chinese made bikes and the more expensive European made bikes. If...

Best option to electrify a Brompton

The Electric Transport Shop have a shop in York I believe.

Best option to electrify a Brompton

Unfortunately I haven't tried the new Nano system so I'm not really in a position to say. I'm not aware of any direct tests / comparisons between the two. I suspect people particularly looking for power tend to go for the extra power version of the Sparticle. I have tried all 3 versions of the...

Best option to electrify a Brompton

The Sparticle kit is available in legal (250W) and '2 extra power' modes. I'm not sure of the nominal motor wattage in each guise. The Nano and conv-e kits are both 250W motors. The wires do not effect the fold.

Best option to electrify a Brompton

The Electric Transport Shop do their 'Sparticle' conversion which I have. This has more power than the Nano but is arguably less elegant. Cyclotricity were showing their conv-e conversion of a Brompton at the NEC Cycle Show. This looked quite smart and is more of a do it yourself option - could...

Sussex Kalkhoff and Moustaches bike dealers.

Kalkhoff are sold direct through 50cycles rather than through a dealer network. They also have shops in London (Hampton Wick) and Loughborough. If you go on their website there may be a local owner who can let you try out their bike. I only know of justebikes who stock Moustache bike (shops in...

Lover of ELectric Bikes, looking for a new bike, robust and affordable

The cheapest crank drive bikes are from Woosh and Kudos, both of whom advertise on this site and are active participants. For serious off-road crank drive bikes, Haibike are probably the best regarded with KTM also proving popular. However, these bikes are expensive - over £2k.

    Brompton Nano or Kudos Secret?

The Brompton Nano (and other conversions) has a front wheel motor. There are several gearing options on the Brompton but I find the 3-speed hub on mine lets me pedal up to 20 mph quite comfortably. As others say, most cheaper folders with 6-speed gears max out well below 15 mph. The Secret...

    Brompton Nano or Kudos Secret?

If you want a bike to love, then it has to be a Brompton. They are fine on reasonable trails but don't like really rough stuff. However, unless you need the really small fold and have the money (quality costs!) the Kudos Secret is a practical (and much cheaper) solution. There are a number of...
