    Gizelle C8HM

Gazelle bikes are well-made and finished. It looks like the model you are thinking of has the Kalkhoff Impulse motor. Too many problems with that motor to recommend it. A Gazelle with a Bosch motor might be a few extra quid, but it would be more likely to be reliable...

    pedelecs banned from UK event...

The ride is known to be congested with lots of once a year cyclists riding like idiots. Couple that with some misinformation about pedelecs, and you can see the reason for the ban. There might also be a genuine fear someone will turn up with their 1,000W contraption, ride it like everyone...

    27.5+ Conversion

Presumably the OP would have to build the motor into the existing wheel to continue to use the 27.5+ tyre.

    Any Bosch compatible batteries?

Some suggestion the notoriously locked down Bosch system prevents the manufacture of pattern batteries for the current motor. I recall someone on here had two Bosch bikes and one battery wouldn't work on the other bike. Having said that, Bosch spare batteries do seem to work. I've not seen...

There is so many bike manufacturers out there how do I know which one to go for. please help

Of the bikes on your list all could, and probably do, have the Bosch motor. Components will be similar from Shimano and the like. So in that respect, there won't be much to choose between them. It comes down to which one you prefer. Fit and style will be a little different, but the choice...

Range on a New 500mAh Bosch

I see you are in Holmfirth. It's a very lumpy part of the country. Hills really suck battery range, so your initial findings look about right to me.

Range on a New 500mAh Bosch

Stu has it. The range meter on Bosch bikes is better than some, but it's still not much real world help due to it projecting from the last x miles. There's a gentle down hill stretch of the C2C path near me which lasts for 10 miles. Descending that - a few turns of the pedals now and again -...

    Ergon GP1 Handlebar Grips

I have palm grips on all my bikes. Ergon are the gold standard, but the cheaper ones do a decent job.

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

I did the Whitby to Scarborough track last year. Parts of it were badly rutted, I was pushing at one point. The guy in the hire place outside Whitby - he does pushbikes and Haibike eMTBs - said the path gets worse each year. It's still fine for a confident rider on an MTB, but not so clever...

    Badass dongle

I, and I expect a lot of us on here, bought direct from Badass. There's thread of mine somewhere about buying an early version and Badass sending me a free newer one 'because we felt we should support people who supported us in the early days'. Badass told me my early one was one of not very...

    Badass dongle

The Badass dongle does what it says, it removes the speed cut off. It will make the bike faster overall, but don't get too excited. There is no 'tuning' or extra power. The motors are built for torque, not speed, so the assistance tails off the faster you go. Being a fairly strong cyclist...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

I'm a bit confused. How is this thread under 'Speed pedelecs, non EAPCs and overseas? It is none of those. Perhaps the forum spring clean and furniture rearrangement is still a work in progress.

    My dream ebike

It was a toss-up between the Charger and the Delite. I like my bikes right but am also lazy, so on balance I prefer the simplicity of a hard tail. The Charger will also be a bit lighter, which is relevant to me when manhandling the bike through the dozens of restrictor gates we have around here.

    which e-bike

Worthwhile improvements. I was talking generally about wheels, and motor wheels in particular. It seems to me a budget rear wheel, a powerful motor, and a heavy rider is a risky combination. Since the combinaton can be avoided by a front hub motor, it makes sense to do so. A crank drive...

    My dream ebike

Despite the enormous choice of ebikes, there is one that I keep coming back to as my dream machine. It's a Riese and Muller Charger GX Rohloff. There's lots to like about it, the Rohloff/enclosed chain transmission should be about as long lasting and low maintenance as it's possible to get...

Go-e On Wheel anyone tried it?

Well done for putting your money where your mouth is - it's the only way to discover if this friction drive works. As you say, history is against it. Tyre scuffing appears to be a big problem, so the tyre you ask it to drive is an important factor. I think there may be some advice with the...

    which e-bike

A front hub motor would even the load on the wheels a bit. Your weight is no problem for a reasonable quality bicycle. But a £1,000 ebike will inevitably have cheap components, so evening the stress on the wheels makes sense.

    Tyre split, Why?

Is the rider heavy? That can lead to sidewall cracks on cheaper tyres.
