    Haibike Sduro engine mounting bolts

The axle bolt on my Alfine hub loosened on a ride. First thing I knew was a crunchy shift, which may have contributed to the hub's demise. Not my finest preventative maintenance hour.

    Sw Scotland Newbie

Range could be a problem. Most of the crank drive mountain bikes use the Bosch motor, which gives an excellent ride, but the cheaper ones have a 400wh battery which will struggle to do 50 miles. You will need the new for 2016 larger capacity 500wh battery, even then getting 50 miles will...

Plugging your phone into the Bosch Intuvia console

I'm no expert, but drawing on an experience with a cable for my smartphone I wonder if some are data and some are data and charging. Some of the cables in this link mention charging, some do not...

Bosch made the VW emission cheating dongle.

Don't Porsche - owned by VW - make more from investments than from selling cars?

    Haibike Sduro engine mounting bolts

Inspired by Emo, I checked the bolts on my Rose. Fine, although one took a little tweak, so worth doing. Interestingly, one of the bolts has a blob of anti-tamper glue on it. Bosch discouraging tinkering? Surely not.

    Newbie looking for advice

The Ebco bikes from Halfords - and elsewhere - are about £1,000. They are reasonable quality and stand a good chance of doing what you want the bike to do reliably. There were some offers on the Ebco bikes a few months ago, but I think they are mostly gone. Some reasonable cheapies here...

    Newbie looking for advice

The budget is too low for the job. Commuting 10 miles each way - assuming you work several days a week - is relatively hard use on any bicycle, ebike or not. There aren't many ebikes for £600 anyway, although you may find something cheap and Chinese online, but it won't last on a commute...

    26 tyres for Ebikes

Two very different tyres recommended so far. Marathon Pluses are hard compound, long lasting and offer about the best puncture protection there is. The 'black chilli' compound of the Contis is soft, so they won't last long if used on the road, and may wear relatively quickly on hard packed...

    Gazelle Orange C7

Gazelle bikes are among the best finished on the market. Some of their hub motor ebikes were a bit weedy for the UK, but you should be fine with an Impulse or Bosch.

    Newbie looking for advice

There are a few more ebike shops than there were, but not many in the North East. What's your budget? And what type of bike are you after?

    Raleigh Motus hub lights

The front probably goes out, although the rear may have a capacitor which means it stays on for a minute or two. Some 2016 Bosch bikes have the lights hard wired from the battery. They may stay on all the time. Clip-on LED rechargeable lights are good these days, so your friend should be able...

Bit confused re battery charging/storage ..help pls !

Willy, We live in a temperate climate, which happily makes a temperature question about a battery irrelevant. It is never too cold or too hot in the UK to worry about it. As said, regular use is best, and if you do leave the battery for a while always leave it part charged.

Looking for a reliable long range bike

When talking about a 'Bosch bike' on here, what we really mean is a bike fitted with the Bosch crank drive motor. Lots of bike manufacturers use the system which is supplied as original equipment only. I don't pretend to understand your hydrogen cells, but charging a Bosch bike 'on the fly' is...

    Kalkhoff Pro Connect Impulse 9 / 10 (9-G/10-G)

I've noticed quite a few 2016 Bosch bikes have lights wired direct from the battery. Lack of a dynohub makes removing the front wheel easier, unless you have one of the hugely expensive dynohubs which have a wireless 'conection' between the hub and frame wiring. As a general point, German road...

    Kalkhoff Tuning Dongle

The dongle only alters the speed cut off, it doesn't add any extra power. The belt will easily take the power of a rider and a relatively weedy motor. Heat and cold doesn't come into it.

keen to tour cyclist, with not so keen legs

I suspect the 36 you quote is volts, but no matter, your range of 50-60miles gives you a fighting chance. On most tours, you wouldn't be looking to go further than that in a day, most days.

keen to tour cyclist, with not so keen legs

Should be a good adventure. What bikes - and more importantly - batteries do you have? Battery capacity management will have to be done right because conking out in the Pennines on a tour loaded ebike will not be pleasant.

    Kalkhoff Integrale 8

They might somewhere, I believe Bosch gave a peak power in one of their tech documents. But given the legal position, it's probably simpler to say 250w. Everyone knows an ebike motor will peak higher than that, depending on battery voltage and what the controller tells it to do.

    Kalkhoff Integrale 8

What Stu is telling you is that all ebike motors peak at more than their rated watts. The Kalkhoff on its highest setting with you pedalling as hard as you can will likely peak at 600w or so.

    Kalkhoff Tuning Dongle

Some wireless speedos don't work on ebikes due to interference. Some do, but you won't know until you fit it. Safest bet is to buy a wired one, which will also be cheaper.
