    Kalkhoff Integrale 8

Looks like the guy who broke two did so cross country racing, citing 'all the mud and grass trapped underneath it' for one break, and stones for another. Those conditions wouldn't apply to a trekking bike such as this Kalkhoff, although you still wouldn't want a stone to jump onto the bottom...

    Kalkhoff Tuning Dongle

The bike could do 46mph, but you wouldn't like it. Motors aside, the gearing probably wouldn't be up to it. All ebikes are heavy, so they do pick up speed down hill. The dongle, when used on a Bosch bike, cuts in at about 11mph, so the speedo goes to about half speed at that point. I expect...

    Kalkhoff Integrale 8

Gates - the maker - say the belt needs to be properly installed and tensioned. However, it doesn't lengthen in use like a chain, so shouldn't need a lot of attention once correctly set. I've seen online reports from belt push bike users who say they don't touch the belt from one year to the...

    Kalkhoff Tuning Dongle

It's a good choice in lots of ways, particularly for someone like you who doesn't sound very interested in bicycles for their own sake. Complete, properly made, low maintenance, quality package which ought to be reliable. Just consider if it's the right style of bike for your riding. The...

    Kalkhoff Tuning Dongle

The S11 is a speed pedelec and has Shimano's 11 speed hub gear. The 8 - there is no 'S' - is an ordinary pedelec and has Shimano's eight speed hub gear. You will note the S bike also has a mounting for a rear number plate. You are correct that a dongle will remove the speed limit. Kalkhoff...

    Kalkhoff Tuning Dongle

The dongle clips on the speed sensor on the chain stay. The Integrale has one of those, so it's likely the dongle will physically fit. Assumptions are always tricky, but it seems likely to me the speed sensing electronics part of the new Evo motor will be similar to Impulse, and therefore...

    Kalkhoff Integrale 8

That's about it. The Kalkhoff is a good choice because it has a larger capacity battery than the Bosch bikes. Handy, because you will inevitably want to ride further than you envisage now. Ebike miles will not get you fit in the way ordinary bike miles do, so you will need to put in the...

    Kalkhoff Integrale 8

Your weight is no bother for a reasonable quality ebike. A torque sensor crank drive - this Kalkhoff or one of the many Bosch bikes - will tend to get you fitter than a hub bike because the crank system encourages you to put in more effort.

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

I did wonder about the cost. The landlord was paying, and I thought fair play to him for getting the job done 'properly' - as an uninformed consumer. I believe it's said a single breathed in particle can trigger asbestosis. If you buy into that, then it's going to be red alert all the way.

    just to annoy

A disingenuous advert - suggesting it is electric when it isn't - is not an encouraging start. My advice is don't - a cheap and nasty Chinese trike for £400 will be just that. The powered version, at £1,600, is way overpriced. Although the folding wine glass looks fun...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

At least the rain kept the dust down. Some asbestos was removed from my office a few years ago. What a circus that was. The guys in full oxygen suits made me think a nuclear holocaust was on the way.

Looking for new fast ebike. So many choices!

Those Continentals are not cheap, but I like the tread pattern. Shallow in the centre for on road, but with some tread on the shoulders to grip when the tyre digs in on the soft stuff.

Decent quality Bosch bike. A bit 'mountain bikey' for a commuter, but you also said you wanted to have some fun. Versatile frame, so you might want to put on more road orientated tyres when you work out how you want to use the bike. Not sure how quick it will be, even de-restricted.

A mate has recently got one. Nice bike, I liked it, a lot. Might suit Mike63 of this parish, if he's prepared to part with best part of £3K.

    bike lasers

Fits well on a Bosch bike and offers more extra space than the Topeak one.

would it be possible to put electrics on this

A front hub could be fitted to the second hand trike. Neal pointed out the general disadvantages with hub motors, and quite fairly made the point one might get some wheel spin, depending on the weight distribution.

would it be possible to put electrics on this

Difficult to tell from the pics, but the drive side chain stay looks non-standard. The extra width between the two chain stays has been achieved somehow, I suspect by some welding to the bottom bracket shell. I might be wrong about that, or it might not make any difference to fitting a kit...

Looking for new fast ebike. So many choices!

Stromer, as mentioned. Kalkhoff Integrale, not on the UK supplier's website but I know they've sold at least one because an acquaintance has it. Nice bike for about £2,800. His one is legal, I expect an illegal in this country S Pedelec version would be more money...

would it be possible to put electrics on this

Yes, probably, and about £700. The conversion looks professional, but crank drives can be sensitive to chain line. There's no way of finding if a crank drive could be made to fit the trike other than trying it. It's also not clear from the pics if the bike has a standard bottom bracket. It...
