    forum is collapsing

Fair enough, but we are all different. I have limited interest in kits/tinkering, so didn't read very many of d8's posts. His knowledge will be a loss to the kit side of things, but there are a few others on here who also know their onions.

One poster doesn't make - or break - the forum.

    New kits fitted yesterday

The torque arms are needed for higher power motors, but I wouldn't worry about them for your kits. You grasp what they are trying to prevent and seem to have done a good, tidy job on installation.

    Cube town hybrid suitable?

Properly specced for commuting. I'm not sure the OP needs extra gearing over and above an 'ordinary' Bosch bike, but no harm in having a wide range. Looks like this bike also has the performance motor which, I think I'm right in saying, means a bit more torque.

Bosch motor sprocket (2014) worn out ?

A Schwalbe Marathon tyre looks the same as a cheapo from China - they are both round and black. However, there is a big difference in price and performance. The same is true, I think, for chains. But then, I'm no engineer. As regards missing the point, you mentioned the chain. The original...

Bosch motor sprocket (2014) worn out ?

Less chain wear is another benefit of a hub gear, not least because the chain isn't being dragged over a cassette dozens of times a ride. I think the Rohloff reversible trick is more aimed at the owner who finds himself in difficulty in Xyzastan on his world tour. Preferred maintenance regime...

Bosch Nyon Performance System / Sat Nav for 2015

Agreed, if - big if - the Nyon will do what the user wants it will be a cheaper solution than buying the stuff separately.

    Cube town hybrid suitable?

Finishing kit on that Cube looks a bit average. I see it has a double chainstay. Looks to me like they tried to Bosch an ordinary frame, found the rear trial flexed too much and slapped on a couple of extra tubes. I usually like Cubes, but don't think this is their finest effort. The OP's...

Bosch Nyon Performance System / Sat Nav for 2015

Relax, not every post on here is having a dig at KTM. The poster was merely saying an alternative to a Nyon would be a Garmin/OS maps combination which could cost up to £500. Perfectly fair point, if you want a bike with satnav you either buy one with it bolted on already, or you buy one...

    Batribike Dash geared too low

Worth having a word with the dealer. Looks like low geared Dash is a common complaint, so they may have a fix.

Bosch motor sprocket (2014) worn out ?

You will also need to fire up your foundry to make some ingots of the correct alloy. Hardly worth it when you can tap the nut off with a screwdriver in about 20 seconds. Left hand thread on the Bosch Classic, dunno about the newer one. You mention earlier a KMC chain for £9. Nowt wrong with...

Bosch motor sprocket (2014) worn out ?

Eeek, degreasing the new chain is just what you don't want to do. New chains are waxed from the factory and should be left well alone. I think your maintenance regime is shortening the chain's life, not lengthening it. Forget the 'engineering background' and leave well alone, apart from a...

    New Electric Bike Storage Frame,ZigZagTruss

Link needs to be: http://www.zigzagtruss.com/ Say what you like about Kudos Dave - and sometimes I do - the guy is certainly very enterprising. I won't be a buyer of the system, but I wish him well with it.

    Very lightweight e-bikes

Earwig is misguided if he thinks there will be significant leaps in battery technology within a few years. When the battery was invented more than 200 years ago it was big and heavy. The same is still true today. Go figure.

    Batribike Dash geared too low

By the look of the specs, the Dash already has a 52t chainring, so there may not be a lot of room to manoeuvre at that end. It might take a cassette with a higher top gear, but you would need to do some teeth counting to establish what's there already...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

This illustrates the difficulty of predicting range. One guy gets round with plenty of battery to spare, another conks out with more than a mile to go. Same battery, same-ish motor.

    Smart e-bike

I also had a go on one at the NEC. Too short a ride to draw any firm conclusions, but I thought it lacked poke compared to other legal ebikes.

    Police crackdown on illegal e-bikes

Nice to see my remark taken in the spirit in which it was intended. I'm not against trade members, quite the reverse. Kudos Dave and the others often post stuff about the trade that I wouldn't otherwise have known, so long may that continue.

If moisture was causing the problem it may have dried overnight. Leave the bike somewhere warm today if you are not using it.

One step away from buying - Oxydrive CST HT 13Ah or Woosh

Any of the recommended motors will do what you seek. You can believe Trex, so when he says the larger diameter motors such as Ezee and BPM are harder wearing that is something to take on board. So it's either one of those, or the bigger diameter Oxydrive. The harder part of your equation is...
