    Cycling Accident :(

It was a bit selfish of the cabbie to just drive off like that. He must have heard the thud?

    Try this?

Sorry, at first I read that as 'Colin Furze is your mum', which is the best peice of spurious abuse I have ever been insulted with. But I agree, he's almost certainly the man for this.

    Take care in Spain

I was in Spain a few weeks back, and I hired a car. I paid the excess on the insurance, so they could not possibly rip me of for damage. When I asked them for booster seat for my son, they wanted 80 euros! For 7 f@!ck#ng days! For a cushion! I told them to jog on, and purchased one in the...

Anyone had an interesting ride recently ?

I'm in Hayle, Cornwall for the night, so I brought the Trek Bruiser backpack bike with me. In the estuary there is a half mile spit that goes nearly to the mouth, and on it a track that you can ride to the rocks at the end. As with most of Cornwall on a Monday night, I was the only one there.

    Decent track pump

I have a cheap £5 garage job, and an old SLA battery in a toolbox, with a switch. It's really good, and will put 60psi into my tires, no problem. Also, very handy for my trailer/boat trailer/etc.

    Which Kudos

I think I rode the Tornado at the Eden Project event last year. I liked it a lot. If I were in the market for a ready built bike, that's the one I'd go for - the BPM motor has a great reputation. Edit: Does anyone know if Kudos will be at the Bristol Event this year?

    Ebike Maintenance & Maintenance Stands

I don't have a copy, and I've never read it, but I've heard that the awesomely titled "Zinn and the art of mountain bike maintenance" is very good.

Time to buy a new e-bike

A new chain is £10, and takes 10 mins to fit, although you might need a chain breaker (£5 from ebay)

    more is better ?

Agreed, cheap bikes require a lot more tinkering. It's normally the brakes that require the most effort. A friend asked me to have a look at his bike the other day. It was new, and just needed setting up. I was shocked to discover plastic brake levers, plastic brake arms, and plastic crank...

Time to buy a new e-bike

CL, With regard to maintenance, I did a quick Google to see if there was a half decent book on the market. Made me chuckle when I found "Zinn and the art of mountain bike maintenance", but as far as I can tell it's a very well regarded book. At c. £15 I would think it'd pay for itself the...

Here's what I did with mine. This way I can drop it into any of my bikes to see whats going on. All my batteries have Anderson powerpoles.

help- have I broken my battery?

A cheap multimeter is what you need. £5 should cover it. Toolstation do a good one, or eBay. One like this: http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/141093479832?nav=SEARCH

Stupid question - speed sensor on front or rear wheel?

Mines on the rear. You always have to find a piece of thing to pad it out with, and I 've always fitted them with about 6mm gap.

Controller + battery in same bag - heat issue?

I had a controller get so hot that the ink on the sticker melted and came off. That was because of those crap bullet connectors failing, but it got very hot. I was glad it was seprate from the battery.

What would you do with this donor bike?

Cantilever brakes are where I draw the line. V brakes is the bare minimum I will accept for a conversion. It may be possible to add V brakes, but you might need new levers.
