Time to buy a new e-bike

Spot on. If you are planning on riding a bike 500 miles a month you really need to be able to maintain it yourself. The basics don't require many tools, and are pretty easy to pick up. Basic tool kit that I carry everywhere: Pump Tyre levers Puncture repair kit 6" adjustable spanner Spoke...

    Battery - controller connectors

I assume it is a tube, just flattened and then rolled up.

    Trek Bruiser Conversion

The battery is pretty well protected, with layers of foam & bubble wrap etc, so I'm pretty sure it wont catch fire in the event of a spill. I guess you can never be 100% sure. The connectors are all Anderson Power poles, so no problem with emergency disconnection. The cables all hang pretty...

How to connect a DC to DC converter?

Personally, I would fuse it at the input side only, bit it won't hurt to do both sides. As far as fuses go, assuming it's 36v down to 6v, then you will have 36/6 (=6) times more current on the 6v side. So if your lights total 1a vfor example) at 6v then a 2a fuse on the 6v side. On the 36v...

    Telephone Biking (If I Dare)

See ehomers knowledgeable response above. It's a friction drive to the back wheel.

Is it not driving the crank then?

    Telephone Biking (If I Dare)

I saw these in a shop in Spain a few weeks back: There's a front, rear and crank drive model.

    Trek Bruiser Conversion

Last year I picked up an old Bafang (i think) SWX01, cheap on eBay. I tested it, repaired a few spokes and it has sat around in my workshop waiting for the right bike to come along. I've been working away the odd night lately, so I thought it would be nice to have a bike I could take with me to...

Looking at getting a kit for a Larger Rider.

My fear with upgrading that old Raleigh is that it could cost more to do than buying something else. For a start, I would want to put on a pair of quality V brakes at the very least. That's £30 spent, and while you are at it you may as well change the cables, another £5. Then, how is the...

    derestricting

The S series controllers with LCD display, from BMS battery can be de-restricted from the LCD. The KU 65 uses a wire. I presume this is the same for the whole of the K series.

Looking at getting a kit for a Larger Rider.

You might be better off getting something a bit more modern to put a kit on. That raleigh is over 20 years old! The good news is that when it comes to a kit based e-bike, the bike is the cheap bit. A bit of e-baying and £100-200 should get you something half decent for a starter. Look out for...

Help Please. Slow Running will not speed up.

Don't know that controller, so this is just a guess, but is it going at walking pace? Many controllers have a walking pace mode, so that you can trot along side. Sometimes, they will do this when they see throttle only, and only ramp up when the pedal sensor kicks in. As I say, just a thought.

Please check my config for a road bike

JST SM connectors are the most common on the BMS kit that I have. You can get em on eBay, few quid for 10 kits, from China. If you are in a hurry, I expect RS or Farnell do them.

    KU65 and PAS

Well, I checked it, and I'm getting 3v back from the display to the controller, so that's all good. Must be a f-knackered controller.

That's sort of what I was expecting, but I can't really tell the difference between 1/2/3, so I'm wondering if my assist wire is not making a connection. Will have to investigate...
