2 Riese & Mueller CHARGER hybrid nuvinci beltdrive

Closer, but no cigar. The link goes to the shop's website, which doesn't have individual stock bikes on it, just links to the maker's website, which in turn lists dozens of ebikes. I'm guessing it is one of these: http://en.r-m.de/bike/charger-hybrid-nuvinci-beltdrive/ Looks nice, but the...

new to e-bikes advise on purchase

Jim, Presumably that's aimed at me. As I said, and as Artstu confirmed, some ebikes can not take single panniers because there is an insufficient gap between the battery and the top rail of the carrier to take the top clips of the pannier. Clearly, throw over linked panniers will fit...

    Delivery problems / Bosch motors

There's an element of 'typical British industry' about this foul up. Decent product, but loads of sales and goodwill lost because they can't make it.

    Bit of a bummer.....

I sent Lynda an email earlier asking where she was. Oops, that will teach me to read all the forum. Just to add my good wishes. I called in to see Lynda earlier this year, and she is just as good, kind, and fun to be with in real life as she is on here. If there's any natural justice, her...

    Delivery problems / Bosch motors

Bosch supply problems first surfaced in the UK last year - we had a thread or two about it. Last answer from Bosch I heard was the factory was being geared up and all would be well within a few months. I suppose there is a knock-on effect to the bike maker, and the industry in general is known...

new to e-bikes advise on purchase

Mmm, not the first post from Cyclezee about this particular lass. I reckon he - on the quiet - has got the hots for Hatti.

new to e-bikes advise on purchase

As a commuter, you will need mudguards and almost certainly a rack for carrying stuff, even if that's only a lightweight waterproof jacket. A small point to bear in mind with rack mounted batteries is the width of the battery often makes it impossible to fit panniers. You could fit a bag on...

How fast do you go downhills

The classic method for controlling speed down hill is not to brake steadily all the time, but brake more heavily in bursts. So you let the bike go to as fast as you are comfortable with, brake to well under that speed, then let the bike go again and repeat as often as needed. I believe this...

    Attitude towards E-bikes

I wonder if Wiggle will take the comments to heart and dump Haibike when they have sold what stock they have. They are bound to be wary of upsetting existing customers. I know it's only vociferous knackers on facebook, but I am surprised mountain bikers have taken against ebikes in this way...

    Attitude towards E-bikes

Me neither, but the likes of Wiggle selling Haibikes must be another notch up on the ebike acceptometer.

How fast do you go downhills

Anything much more than 20mph and I'm testing the brakes. I once hit about 33mph on a slight decline when I was testing the dongle on the Rose - too ruddy fast for me.

Legal ebike that can climb steep hills fast!

Er, is 10 per cent what we used to call one in 10? If so, it's not very steep.

    Haibike Bosch 2014 motor protection

There's shield on this bike in the forum's for sale section. But as Eddie says, it seems pointless with the motor mounted above the downtube. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/ex-demo-haibike-eq-xduro-bosch-motor-only-150-miles-on-the-clock-on-speedo-mint-condition.17078/

What Marathon Tyre do I need ?

Good shout from Dave. Marathon's are known to be bit harsh - trade-off for puncture resistance - so a bit of width is a good thing. Just make sure you get one with a shallow tread, which is designed for roads/cinder tracks.

Woosh Scirocco 2 - independent review

I hope the ISIS is well sealed. It may not be the Bosch system's finest point because, apparently, ISIS bearings have a smallish circumference. This means smaller balls (ho-ho) and fewer of them, inevitably leading to a shorter life.

Woosh Scirocco 2 - independent review

I don't think I'd heard of Rose when I did the review. Still looks about right to me, so I wouldn't do it a lot differently today. I was considering making Hatti an offer she couldn't refuse - for the bike. But, as I mentioned in the review, I have doubts about the longevity of some of the...

Woosh Scirocco 2 - independent review

Could this be the same RobF who thinks all Chinese bikes are garbage? I think it might be. For those genuinely interested in the topic, I would add a couple of rear spokes broke after I posted the original review. But I'm quite a big lad - and the bike was well loaded with shopping - so I...

    Marathon Plus

I have Marathon Supremes on the Rose, well I would, wouldn't I? The straight answer is there is a bewildering array of Schwalbe tyres which have marathon in the name.
