    Who likes Crank-drives?

8-Fun crank drive offerings seem to be facing tough competition this year from a few well established Chinese motor companies like MPF, XOFO and MXUS, their products are cheaper - sometimes by as much as 20%. In the early days, the BBS01/02's compatibility with standard BB shells scored against...

    new 6000mAH cell from GEB

Yes, it is. GEB told me max continuous current at 1C. It fills an interesting slot in 36V or 48V at 12AH or to make a small 2S booster pack for 36V 10AH batteries, you know your battery will be flat before the booster does.

    new 6000mAH cell from GEB

that's easy: 20 * 83g = 1660g + 100g (BMS and wiring) + 100g (£3 saddle bag from Banggood) = 1860g and costing about $140. Only problem with this, the recommended maximum continuous current is 12A, a bit weak other than for very light weight bikes.

    new 6000mAH cell from GEB

New prismatic cell from General Batteries packs 25% more charge. http://www.gebattery.com.cn Model:8043125 - 6000mAH Dimension: 8.0*43*125mm Weight: 83±1 g Max discharge current: 1C Expect to see cheap 36V 18AH rear rack batteries for the weight and price of 15AH batteries soon.

ebike to keep up with road bike for 40 miles

if speed is what you want, then it's easy to get high speed with crank drives because it is limited only by your cadence. For example, with 26" wheels, 23mm tyre size, 44 teeth in the front and 12 in the back, 15mph = 58 RPM, 52 RPM with 700C wheels. http://www.bikecalc.com/cadence_at_speed...

second hand electric bike - what to look for?

second hand Litium batteries that are not in frequent use suffer also from hidden cell damage. Basically, the battery cuts out when the motor runs at maximum power for more than a minute. This is because there are 40-50 cells in a pack, over time, one or two cells get weakened during storage...

    My first commute...

KB has a 48V battery - still, the range seems to be too short, I would expect 35 miles range on a full charge - it looks like the controller's LVC setting cuts in too soon.

    My first commute...

the noise seems to come from the front brake rotor rubbing against the pads. If it's just it, It's easy and only takes a minute to fix. The rotor spins between the two pads, you only need to keep the rotor in the middle. Take a look to confirm the diagnostic.

Too many options in my mind, but... any good?

I have access to failure rate of Chinese batteries and I can assure you that 15AH batteries are THREE TIMES as reliable as 10AH batteries during their warranty period. I think this is due to the fact that 250W motors can output as much as 500W - the peak current draw is often around 16A-18A -...

Too many options in my mind, but... any good?

torque sensor is great until you hit 100% - that's equivalent to full throttle. It's usuall sensibly tuned for the average riders (like me), but it hits 100% too easily for the strong riders, you are then left with using the LCD as second throttle. Maybe there will be a way to tune the response...

Too many options in my mind, but... any good?

d8veh did mention the Sport TS in a couple of posts. what kind of battery is better? if you refer to the position, the bottle contributes to better handling of the bike, giving it a lower center of gravity, while the rear rack battery gives it stealth, helps disguising the electric assistance...

ebike to keep up with road bike for 40 miles

all the crank drives can get up steep hills - albeit slowly. Most of the legal cank drives have maximum output at around 500W, they can maintain this output only at the optimal gearing, in the case of the BBS01 / TCM / MMS translates to around 70-75 RPM, which may be not the case when climbing...

ebike to keep up with road bike for 40 miles

With regard to kits, any Chinese battery can do 1.5C, batteries with high discharge rate BMS are limited to 1000W and usually fitted with Samsung cells. For Mrs D, a Woosh CD would do well. All the Woosh CDs have Samsung cells I recommend a crank drive because their maximum speed is only limited...

second hand electric bike - what to look for?

sorry to disappoint but you won't find a second hand bike with a decent battery at your budget. Even batteries of expensive bikes have a limited life, typically 3-4 years, 500 - 800 charging cycles. Just ask the owners how old the bike is and how many charging cycles it has.

it's true. Even when you have a perfectly useable bike, somehow membership of this forum makes you spend more than you planned.

Bike wanted for short fast commute

Yes, all the BPM motors (Kudos Tornado, Kudos Arriba, Kudos Typhoon, Woosh Big Bear, BH Neo Extrem) have the same peak power (700W) but one may not hold the same peak power as long as another. This is because the battery voltage sags a little when so much power is pulled from its cells. This...

    Who likes Crank-drives?

I remember vaguely that the friction wear wasn't a linear function, because at some moment, you get to a catastrophic wear region where metal fatigue causes the metal lattice to disintegrate. At first, the wear is caused by deformation at the point of contact. It increases with temperature and...

    Interesting looking folding bike

the tilt looks interesting but would it still fold easily after you add a bunch of cables and where would you put the battery? the only obvious place is inside the chain cover. Maybe a good candidate for a friction drive.
