The controller has changed and is all now WP connectors, is there anything in the manual to change the direction, perhaps a display parameter. Otherwise one will need to contact the vendor as it may be in warranty still.

Most of the info is low voltage regulated so the 5v rail being corrupted by moisture will be affected.

As to the Q of adding a connector then tbh no not worth the hassle.

Btw I know you say you don't ride in the rain, but the motor wheel is fitted incorrectly and any moisture can work it's way easily in to the hub and rust it solid. The motor cable needs to exit south from below the drop out and then the cable forms a drip loop as it turns north.

The SW102 looks identical to my KT lcd4 so is the reason I would choose it, I don't have issues with changing with a glove on but tbh once I have set the display I seldom need to change it.

Thanks for confirming, I did wonder if the photo cell quality differed. Hence asking. The outlay for moving or wild off grid power isn't cheap so the alternative for simple home off grid use just simply wouldn't recoup any outlay costs.

Some more info needed bike/ system used ? E10 can often mean comm's between display and controller interrupted so could be a damaged small wire somewhere between the two components or the connecting wiring.

A lot of those volamart kits have controllers with learns wires & possibly restriction wires, as asked a link to the actual kit.

Has not the controller have a pair of learn wires for that scenario ? If so then one will have to go thru the learn process of connecting and disconnecting the wires until the controller gets it right, once the motor is running correctly turn off, disconnect the wires and then when one turns on...

Likely as Sturmey says the final option is water ingress affecting the 5v line.

If had to opt for one it would be the SW102.

For the 5v the fault can be via the throttle or PAS or any 5v connection with water ingress. The controller depends on it's location but doubt any issue will be the hub unless one is ridden above the axle line or the motor cable input direction is wrong.

Most likely issue is water ingress on the 5v rail. The grinding noise you talk of may have been phase losing sync.
