    Ezee Hub Motor Problem

All 36 combinations in the chart above. 3 combinations should give the correct forward motion and 3 backwards. All the rest should cause stuttering, clicking or nothing, but it is possible to get false positives, which give the symptoms you have. I know from experience that you can get weird...

    PAS activation when back pedalling

You shouldn't get a dual sensor one. The most compatible are the cheapo 8 or 10 magnet ones. Your problem is very unusual and related to the exact PAS that you have. No normal PAS would do that. Forget what Woosh says above. He probably hadn't woken up properly when he wrote that. Now that he's...

Speed sensor in back wheel of Powabyke Classic

Honeywell SS41 can work up to 24v, so modify my above post from 5v to 12v. A 555 timer can work up to 18v, so you can choose either option. For the very low cost, I'd go for the 555, at least to try it.

    Try the other connection combinations.

Help! Help me climb these hills please!

Oxygen HQ is in Rotherham (South Yorkshire Electric Bike Centre). If that's near you, pay them a visit, otherwise call them. When you deal direct with them, there's a good chance that you can negotiate a discount.

    PAS activation when back pedalling

That's not true. Even the cheapest single sensor ones are directional. I've never seen or heard of one that works in both directions in 10 years of working with ebikes - until this thread started. Has anybody else ever seen one work in both directions before? The one thing I do know is that the...

    Confusion on display selection

Send an email to or call this shop in Holland. There's a good chance that they'll be able to help you. I would guess that the later Batavus or other ones would work if any are 24v, which I think the one with 24 in the title probably is. They might know for definite...

Speed sensor in back wheel of Powabyke Classic

By deduction, it's a normal bi-polar hall sensor. You apply 5v to the red and black, then measure between ground and the signal wire to see if it switches between 5v and 0v when a magnet goes past in the right direction. Most likely, it will need a pull-up resistor to test it on its own, so for...

Help! Voilamart 26” front hub looking for repair

If the wires are shorted to each other, you'd need a special meter to detect that since they're all connected in the windings, so you'd need to see the difference between zero ohms and 0.1 ohms, which your average DVM can't do. His wire got twisted where it comes out of the axle. Some wires...

Help! Voilamart 26” front hub looking for repair

When you check continuity between any two phase wires, you go through two phase windings, so you check them both at once. The phase windings have such low resistance that you can consider them a direct connection. If any of the wires were shorted to the motor chassis, effectively, they all...

    PAS activation when back pedalling

It's controlled by the magnetic field. A south facing magnet coming from the right has the same effect as a north facing one coming from the left.

    PAS activation when back pedalling

I might have guessed it would be a 12 magnet one. You could try pushing out every other magnet to see if that fixes it.

Speed sensor in back wheel of Powabyke Classic

They had a device that eliminated that speed sensor and converted to twist and go throttle. It had the name PTDISABLE. It must have been something that used the power from the red and black (probably 5v) and gave a simple pulsed signal. You could try making one from a 555 timer, like here...

I already told you above that the DNP one fits.

    Confusion on display selection

It looks digital to me rather than analogue. That would make it more complicated because digital ones send instructions to the controller that the controller has to be able to understand. Are there any markings on the other side of the board where the mauve and blue wires attach?

Maybe he started in a too high gear or he messed up his shifting. If you make mistakes with a crank motor, you might have to pay the penalty. Is he used to riding bikes with those sorts of motors?

    Dawes repair

If you connected those 5 wires incorrectly, you can wipe out the controller and/or the LC. Two of the wires carry battery voltage and if you connect them to the comms wires. it's bad news. The LCD will light up as long as you have the red and black wires connected, but the software in the CPU...

Steel doesn't suffer from metal fatigue like aluminium and magnesium does. As long as you keep your nuts tight, it'll be fine.

Help! Voilamart 26” front hub looking for repair

My way is much easier and quicker, plus you don't need to disturb the insulation on the joints in the motor. IMHO, the way he said to do it is daft. The results are the same whichever way you do it. Actually, the way I said, you only have to check from blue to green and blue to yellow, and to...
