    Brexit, for once some facts.

You're just jealous because you don't have the equivalent of the Academy Française defending the English language. ;) My thought is that the English language is well on the way to no longer existing in a couple of generations. What will be called English then will have nothing to do with the...

    Our replacement for the EU?

Funny you should mention that... Upon thought I do seem to get on better with people of Scottish origin. Roots? There are people who deem themselves superior beings in every country of the world. I do not get on well with that kind of people. There seems to be a rather large concentration in...

2016 Giant Road e+1 display in KPH not MPH

Because a speedo in MPH is compulsory on a motor vehicle! It isn't compulsory on a bike, even an e-bike. An odometer is in EN 15194 but the units aren't specified...

Winter safety. Dark nights, lights, tips and tricks.

I was disturbed by a Lycra with the most horrendous flashing white front light recently, almost blinded I looked away.

10% of Indians speak English, aren't they half of the Commonwealth?

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I have enough basque to order wine and food. I do not speak basque. I have understood Spanish for many years and been able to get around. But it is only recently that I consider myself able to have a conversation of any interest. Tested I am a B1...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I doubt that 1.5 billion people are fluent in English. A few words does not make a person a polyglot.

    Mid drive

Just a thought: all the clever programmers at Bosch were working on the VW software...

    Mid drive

The GSM will easily pull 35 kmh on the flat at quite low Amps. The software isn't clever enough. It would be easy enough for them to limit top speed to 25 kmh dongle or no dongle. They have a GPS in the some of the displays already if I understand correctly?

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Key word: probably And that is flawed logic because English isn't the principal language of bilinguals, they only speak it when they need to, when they need to communicate with a person who doesn't speak their primary language. See my other post about the cognitive capacity of polyglots. EDIT...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I think that diversity is what makes the species go forward. Compulsory learning of a second language is the way forward, your solution is a step backwards. I live in an area where children are often tri-lingual, look up what that means...

Drop the seagull poo colour and the world has enough turquoise e-bikes  I like the Stromer integrated packs, the right shape to fit cells and nice and slim. Maybe the world needs a standard for integrated packs? It would bring costs down for both manufacturer and client.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

It isn't. It is used in trade. Full stop. That is it, once the deal is done people go back to using another language for day to day life which is often more interesting than just plain old buying and selling. French is still used in diplomacy. It is the language of the elites. The Chinese...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Well thanks a lot for "short of adequate"! That isn't what I am hearing here, more like "your mastery of the subtleties of French is better than mine" or "you learnt Spanish on the internet, I don't believe you!". I beg to disagree. I have heard businessmen whose mother tongue was not English...

    Our replacement for the EU?

Here is a brain twister for you: As a citizen of a Commonwealth country I cannot live and work in the UK. I'm a third generation New Zealander. As a permanent resident of the EU I can hold a EU resident card which allows me to live and work in any country of the EU... (holding your breath?)...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Oh come on! It's third behind Chinese and Spanish. You may have sunk the armada but their language rules yours. There are even more people in the USA who speak Spanish than there are who speak a very crappy variant of English. Even on this forum the English used is sub par to say the least...

Surprising how quick these Brexit price rises have happened

Um, do you really think that the French Brompton importer is going to lower prices because of a stronger Euro? We really need to talk about economics  Stronger Euro against the GBP = higher margins for companies importing English products.

    Our replacement for the EU?

Because the EU has been communicating badly about what it is doing to make peoples lives better. Because "well meaning" people have been spreading false information about what it actually does. Because it is a thorn in the side of the USA and its goal of total world domination, financially and...

    The new best headlight

I have a 30 lux battery powered b+m at the moment and it is completely OK for riding on the open road. I downhill at 50 km/h +, cars see me coming and dip their lights, no problems. I am moving up to the 70 lux wired in light because it has daytime running LEDS and runs off the 42 V of my...
