    Li-Po 6s charging question

My charger receives 11.7 V from the ATX power supply under load and charges the 6S battery to 25 V in just under 2 hours at 0.5C.

    First day with a Secret...

It isn't as if pedelecs have just fallen out of the sky overnight. I would have thought that a businessman would have gotten his head around the idea that it isn't just a fad and that trained staff = more turnover = more profit. My LBS isn't really a rocket scientist but has been selling Matra...

    First day with a Secret...

Q: "What if we break something?" A: "That's why you are paying for insurance!" or impolite: "I thought I saw bicycle shop on the front door, you don't even know how to change a tyre?"

    Power to crank drive ?

Legal limit: "b) assistance shall be cut off when the cyclist stops pedalling forward such that the cut off distance does not exceed 5 m with the use of brake lever cut off switch or 2 m without the use of brake lever cut off switch. This requirement has to be checked according to the test...

    Torque sensor v speed sensor

Thanks for the lesson d8veh - don't ever believe what one reads on Chinese web sites :) I should have guessed the software wasn't as sophisticated as they said. It could be which is a shame. Does the Speedict work as advertised?

    Sticky Hub

I think you may be right having seen the amount of water on the floor sometimes you have to count your losses and move on... Lots of front hub kits sold in the UK.

There is only a thin rubber gasket between the black controller top and the metal bit which makes water ingress more likely now that it is exposed to the front and not protected behind the battery.

    Torque sensor v speed sensor

My understanding is that the torque simulation PAS controllers are able to read both cadence (PAS reads cadence not speed) and speed from the speed sensor and have an algorithm to simulate pedal torque. The more magnets you have the more fine grained is the cadence data giving better dosed power...

    Next project: light assist bike

Going down steep hills! That is where all the fun is :D Yes the bigger wheels will require more power to climb the hills but they help smooth the ride and go faster on the way down.

    Next project: light assist bike

I am not sure if mine is torque simulation one or not, I read it somewhere that it was I think. But get yourself a 12 magnet PAS disk it makes the world of difference on a sine wave controller. I have a 09 torque simulation controller in front of me as I type but it has never been plugged in -...

Quality cells 3.2 V, Chinese 3.5 V The BMS on my bottle battery cuts of at 35.5 V IIRC I hardly ever let it empty completely I always charge at just over 36 V. You can play with the level in the LCD settings but if the BMS is set to a certain level the controller won't override I think.

News: Belgian speed pedelec experiment recruits new participants

Ditto French Basque Country which is why I ride on the road. The St Jean to Hendaye cycle path is highly recommended if you have any bolts or screws you can't get undone. A couple of rides and they will fall straight out! Spanish Basque Country cycle paths are quite good except for the...

    New Gtech ebike

Your BBS01 is a 15 Amp one or an 18 Amp one? I have no problem with using the assistance levels instead of gears but am intrigued to see how the Sram would work here on these hills. I just got back from Irun along the coastal road into a stiff easterly all the way 12.45 W / mile (7.74 W / km)...

    Oxydrive kits

I should be on a sticker somewhere on the controller. With regards to you finding no difference between them, if you run a 250 W motor at higher Amps and a 350 W motor at lower Amps they will be much of a muchness.

sonders style triangle case to house battery and controller

Build your own from wood, this is the template for my frame. Thanks for your question, it inspired the idea of an evolution of the above which maybe able to contain 20 Ah of lipo!

Hobby king multi star on offer

I found an answer on a RC site (OK on several sites, they all seem to agree): First 5 charges at 0.5C (5 Amps for my 10 Ah packs) then you can charge at 1C First 5 uses don't ask for maximum C rate - I think we are clear here because we will never ever be pulling more than 2C from a pack with a...
