Petition to legalizing throttle only eBikes for the disabled

Although legally EU Pedelec law is 250w nominal, motors all will produce more then this and up to about 750w in some cases most bikes will give 400- 500w. There is no legislation saying what the controller max amps output should , if you look at various bikes they do very a bit from max 12a -...

    Basic Sans charger mods/adjustments.

My dolphin 29E's I used to fully charge every time but now only charge to 4.12-4.14v per cell with the odd occasional full balance charge, in the one or two cases where I have opened the battery all groups have been remained perfectly balanced to 4.14v even now in there 5th year. I only charge...

Could you give me your opinion on this kit?

Sounds good can see me going for a 48v if a double set up can work. Are you sourcing 34t or 36t chain ring ? 135 is Compag territory and 39t is the smallest they offer.

Could you give me your opinion on this kit?

Is amperage for both the same ? BCD still 135 so do we think a double can be made to work ?

If wanting to go down the 80-90% charge route then the need to fit a programmable BMS is surely the route to go, then you can set the parameters yourself and have up to date cell group info, with batteries though thee can get to OCD worrying about them so better to just use them and manage them...

The full charge to 100% can be bad in wrong circumstances as has been mentioned many times now. Only do it if using the battery very soon after (I don't mean straight away) but certainly within 6-10hrs of charging. Leaving at full charge even short term(days/weeks) will age the cells life...

    Kit v New Bike

Kits are for enthusiastic people who like to tinker as a hobby, if you have a bike then adding a kit can make sense. The guy who spent 2k odd on a pedal bike then added the BBS, I don't really understand as a good OEM bikes are already available. Full suss conversions do need thinking about if...

    Dazed and Confused, Brighton..

It's easy tp spend someones money which they haven't got and suggesting a more expensive option doesn't help them in their choice. A step thru dutch style is what the lady wants and has said she likes the style of them. What to look for is hard but generally they will all be much a like. Look...

    Dazed and Confused, Brighton..

To be honest you need to test ride some bikes to see how they ride , a front wheel drive bike responds and feels different to rear wheel drive , then as you mentioned a mid drive (chain drive) is reliant on being in the correct gear more so then a hub bike.

For Sale Greyp G12S Electric Bike only 279 miles total! £6,500

The difference though despite restriction or not is the bikes appearance, it might have pedals but doesn't look like a regular looking one.

    Kit v New Bike

The OEM mid drives you mention are Torque drive the power delivery is different, if you can apply good assistance they will multiply your effort better then a cadence drive. As you have cadence drive (hub) maybe consider a torque drive system to compare the two for effort and power delivery...

The Swizzbee is a good 13 years old now ( was 2.5 - 3k euros) and the electronics are LG made by Dreifels Ag, the pair will have extensively done the numbers game and the BMS is set for 41.5v per cell for max balance. With thoughts on cell longevity without compromise on range as range is what...

Even more expensive now due to Bosch and the EU consortiums resorting to closing out any competition.

Cheap commuter into long range e-bike.

I can't say but have a read /browse through the various threads in the forum link below which give mention to said Array. https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/search/61509/?q=RALEIGH+ARRay&t=post&o=date Pedelecs to some appear expensive but when you look at some pedal bikes they don't appear so...

Yes quite right SW just seen the stats about 7.3 miles for a charge, certainly would soon get fed up with pushing a dead weight around. A bike like that makes no impression on me and not something to take to the local woods which is 3 miles away. Only words I can come up with is a piece of sh*te.

Cheap commuter into long range e-bike.

Cheap kits are just that there is a reason why you pay good money for a Woosh kit and I am trying to be unbiased here, the cheap kit battery will have no name crappy China cells and will sag eventually like grannies much worse then most good branded cells. The front hubs generally are lack...
