    Advice on bike purchase

Welcome to the fourm Andrew. Most of the bikes /kits listed on ebay of 500+ watts are (D/D)direct drive hubs these are heavy and ideal for fast riding on flat terrain once up to speed, issue with most kits are they come with a very modest ah battery and a low amp rated controller that aren't...

What conversion kit should I buy ?

Some examples from ebay on this thread though you also need to factor in a battery so generally 400-500 quid. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/a-very-cheap-conversion-kit.29108/

    Oxydrive kits

My error 02 showed up again :( yesterday during my 64 mile partly very damp ride then I had 07 motor stall occur, after a reset 02 reoccurred with a power conflict that required the use of the brake cut off to prevent the bike surging without my command o_O . Following a drier spell the fault...

Fooled by Brighton & Hove City bike share scheme.

I didn't stop to look at one because of the weather all I saw as I passed one was what I thought was a rear pannier battery, you may well be right and they are just part of a pedal bike scheme. I stand corrected just checked the www. and they are a pedal bike, the look alike battery on the rear...

Hopper Urban/ Coyote Connect/ Viking Harrier Problem?

Turn the bike upside down and have a look at the pas sensor and magnet disc, it should be on the underside or to the side of the bottom bracket. It consists of a round plastic disc with usually 5 - 12 magnets on it, attached to the bottom bracket or frame should be a small wired sensor that...

Fooled by Brighton & Hove City bike share scheme.

Yesterday I noticed cycling from Southwick heading eastward a few e bikes painted in Brighton city's pale blue/green colours along the promenade, approaching the 360i I saw a an open air lock up place/bike station point where these bikes are locked to a docking station and a charge point. The...

    No heatshrink - no problem.

Undoubtedly very imaginative and a nutter I would say. I have watched his video of the diy spot welder where he made a dodgy battery, most of the welds were charred and holed .

    Help with brakes

No use cleaning pad surface if you don't clean the disc rotor as well, as all will happen is you will transfer contaminate back on the pad.

    Help with brakes

Can't help with make or brand you may need to up load a pic of the brake lever and callipers, do they have no name on them at all. Front pads if contaminated will be why they don't bite hence the rear's wearing out quick. Front brake does approx. 80% of the braking so you need to get them...

Halfords Carrera ebikes are not really fit for purpose, if you browse on the forums search section you will find they have power loss issues which haven't been resolved.

    Is there such a thing...

I can only echo much of what has been said. Nearly any decent ebike will last as long as you don't neglect maintenance there is little to go wrong, whether it be Wipser, Woosh, Juicy, Volt or any other make you can mention. Much like any pedal bike tyres, brakes, cables, chain and bearings etc...

Which kit? 12 mile range, 20mph, hub motor, city bike

Use a Dremmel or similar multi tool but go careful and only take a little out at a time or use a rat tail file. If the washers don't do the job then go up to a larger disc rotor and adapter.

    Battery problem

Most batteries should have a blade fuse my 09 dolphins have an external fuse to pry out, whereas my DAS- KIT Oxydrive batteries have the fuse inside the case. In the event of a short they are there to protect the cells and bms/pcb.
