    Winter's coming

Most bikes are ali nowadays and well protected by paint/lacquer finish, you are worrying over nothing. My trusty Norco 700c town/commute steed rarely or never sees a clean and is now almost 5 years old, the only attention it gets a bit of chain lube and brake pads.

    Hi everyone

For a heavy weight then a bpm kit will be powerful if you were 3 or 4 stone lighter a Q128 would be as good. Wooshbikes sell rear bpm kits inc battery. d8veh may extol the virtues of the Xiongda 2 speed geared winch hub and may well be ideal for a heavy weight, available direct from Xionda for...

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

68 miles to and from the Surrey hills today with 5100 ft of elevation gain today. Another tank today, recently at Denbies Vineyard they dug up a rare lightly armoured Covenanter cruiser tank. This is believed also to have been used for target practice by Canadians just like the Kithurst Hill one.

    Q128C 25mph fast hybrid commuter build/ride report

Clear plastic bit is the motor wire cover to protect the exposed pins in transit etc. The blue wire connector is for cruise control and joins the black and blue wired SM2 connector together. PAS uses less power so will increase range, throttle makes you lazy. Throttle if any issue will be in the...

BBS 1 Cutting out, any ideas?

Not an issue I have come across, but why it only happens at lower speed ? I can only think of a pas issue or a controller fault. Most other faults are covered by error codes barring brake sensors.

BBS 1 Cutting out, any ideas?

Usually an error code will be thrown up on the lcd. If any slight fault reading with the speed sensor then 21 would show.

    LCD3 P1 Setting

Motor reduction gear ratio x 20 = the P1 setting required, So 5:1 x 20 = 100 . I found on my Q128c it affected how smoothly the hub would run under pas, the power applied faltered a little and at times was a bit lack lustre until I tried a few different settings and settled on 208. Default...

    Rescue a failing Kalkhoff?

If no visible face plate screws then yes the face plate screws off, some torque/force may well be needed to do this. A lever will usually need to be fabricated to open the hub, for my Q hub I made one in true Heath Robinson style but it worked. A pic may help. The SO6S is all but the same as...

I think my Kalkhoff Pro Connect is Knackered.

If the main wire loom from the controller/led has a water proof type connector at all have a look in both parts to see if there has been any moisture ingress, green staining from any pins will be a give away.

    Rescue a failing Kalkhoff?

A Q100c or Q100H or Q128 C or H fromBMSBattery with a KT controller /lcd kit from PSWPower might be an option though you would have to have the hub laced and trued in to your existing rim. Kit parts cost approx. $220.

Came off bike in most plonkerish way

I have had a tank slapper some what similar, come off and snapped off a hdb lever. In my off I came off a corner a bit quicker and soon was on the marbles near the kerb, in the end I ended up brushing the kerb trying not to come off. Instinct comes in to play, then you try to over correct...

    LCD display problem

If all other lcd functions are working correctly then suspect the sensor may be faulty, also check the wiring for damage and the connection to make sure all pins are a good fit. If you are able to open the sensor then disconnect it and try a continuity check on the wiring.

Hopper Urban/ Coyote Connect/ Viking Harrier Problem?

Good to hear that the fix was simple, always best to start with the very basics before buying lots of unnecessary parts. A disc with 8 or more magnets should give a better smoother pulse and iron out the intermittent pas, though that could just be down to incorrect alignment with the sensor. I...
