    G-tech bike,has anyone seen a proper test

I once bought from a good brand 150 miles away. Ten days and 200 riding miles later I drove a 300 mile round trip to have a new hub motor fitted. The moral? Even the best can fail prematurely at times. .

What is the advantage of 36volt over 26volt?

The current 8G model uses the 36 volt Impulse 2, but the 26 volt one you are looking at must have the Panasonic unit. These have generally been very reliable, but even they can suffer the rare failure so no absolute guarantee. My warning on cost is that if one fails, it's going to cost around...

What is the advantage of 36volt over 26volt?

No, the system incorporates all the software systems and is limited to 24/26 volts. .

    Leaving the EU

Not really to be contrary, more the thought that I might as well do something useful as the last act, and if that's not possible, not be a nuisance. As for not being in a hurry, if I hang around too long I could end up as Soylent Green. ;) .

What is the advantage of 36volt over 26volt?

The 36 volt units are more powerful, but that's not due to the increased voltage as such in the Kalkhoff case. The difference is that the 26 volt bikes are older ones using the Panasonic motor unit with either Panasonic or Kalkhoff branded batteries, the 36 volt ones use their own Impulse motor...

    New Electric bike shop, Devon

Come to think of it, the closure of Devon based Powerpedals and their Tonaro brand being no longer sold from there does leave a gap. Or of course it could be a foreboding of what could happen. .

That's courageous, rather a long way from major centres. .

News: ‘Twist and go’ type approval guidance emerges

Useless as expected. Their simple view of the pedelec law was far too incomplete and their attempt to impose their own classification names is inaccurate, unnecessary and likely to confuse. .

    Leaving the EU

Not mine, I'm not having one. Two things pre-arranged: 1) Body donated for any medical use, which usually means use for training would-be surgeons etc. 2) If with a disease listed precluding that use, body disposal arrangements already made. .

    Leaving the EU

Your explanation illustrates the complexities of judging the outcome. Given the multiplicity of factors, the task of the pollsters is probably more impossible than on any previous occasion. .

    Leaving the EU

Yes, sorry I've been at cross-purposes. Not sure how much Wimbledon will influence left or right, but what you are saying is that the government wants out, seeing Conservatives have so many Brexiters? .

    Leaving the EU

That's certainly not the consensus view. It's left wing and particularly Labour that are considered as broadly remainers, and the right wing, Conservative and UKIP, that contains the highest proportion of Brexiters The left know Europe is predominantly socialistically inclined and protective...

Tesla co-founder says hydrogen fuel cells are a ‘scam’

I agree, just don't think it can all happen within ten years, so the lithium e-cars will hold sway for a long time yet in the EV field. And of course the i.c. and hybrid cars will still dominate the car market for a long time yet, probably veering more and more towards hybrid to fend off pure...

Tesla co-founder says hydrogen fuel cells are a ‘scam’

Depends what we call short term. The Mirai is in isolation, at a crazy price and almost zero infrastructure for filling. Tesla are now getting down to £30k, the Nissan Leaf price area, there are a large number of e-car choices now, some with i.c. range extenders, and the infrastructure is...

News: ‘Twist and go’ type approval guidance emerges

But what about the legal position that it's an unregistered motor vehicle being used at present? Surely that would be more likely to influence the liability decision than the technicality of type approval? We shouldn't forget that in this area the EU law is paramount and takes precedent, and...

    Leaving the EU

The crazy thing is the weather on polling day might decide it, given it's close. It's well known that the labour voter is more difficult to get out and widely accepted that good weather helps get them out. So, given political preferences, with a pleasant sunny day we may well exit the EU, but...

News: ‘Twist and go’ type approval guidance emerges

But the law doesn't say that, and that is the problem at present. There are two possible legal consequences. First of prosecution for using an unregistered motor vehicle, though the DfT would stop that if it was taken to them. Second the liability in a civil court following an accident and a...

Tesla co-founder says hydrogen fuel cells are a ‘scam’

I broadly agree, I woudn't promote the nuclear method for hydrogen on present evidence. Dont know about fuel cell life expectancy though, I've seen some negative reports. The best car lithium batteries are good for 8 years now. .

    London Cyclist Death

Some more details on the sad death yesterday. The victim was a 25 year old woman cyclist who was struck by a truck on a railway bridge in St James Road, Selhurst, South London. The truck driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and failing to stop at the scene and...

Tesla co-founder says hydrogen fuel cells are a ‘scam’

It certainly does have some advantages, only how to get the hydrogen being a problem. We've been running a very small fleet of single deck hydrogen fuel-cell buses on one route in London for some years. They've had teething troubles but seem ok now. No prizes for guessing where the hydrogen...
