    More good news

Sorry to disappoint, but in 2007 we had exactly the same announcements and expectations. There was so much certainty then than that one major e-bike supplier, Wisper, slashed their battery prices to cost only in anticipation of continuing reductions. In fact the opposite happened, prices...

    Update for the Mods

Indeed Robin, and the assist speed limit also changed then. It's now 15.6 mph, which brings us into line with the EU 25 kph limit. So the fog has lifted. :) .

    khalkhoff latest pedelec system

Not very much though Robin, less than 5 months. The new law only arrived on 6th April this year. .

    khalkhoff latest pedelec system

The danger of buying a new battery at £700 for your 7 year old Panasonic unit bike is the possibility of the motor unit subsequently failing. We have had a small number of these older units failing. A you probably know, there is no repair for these, when they go it's a new unit at circa £500...

    khalkhoff latest pedelec system

The Impulse is far more powerful than your Panasonic unit. I've uploaded two Kalkhoff documents to my website from where you can read or download them using the two links below. Both documents are old but contain much of what you need that is still current. If your internet connection is...

    'Cycle priority crossing'

I fully agree John, but it would be a very brave government that spent billions on such facilities for 3% at the severe disadvantage of the 70% plus who drive. That 3% has to increase first. In London where the proportion cycle commuting is now much higher we are beginning to get separated...

    'Cycle priority crossing'

The top one looks like The Netherlands, 30kph for cars using cyclepath access to their homes. Very nice, we could have the same if 70% of the population routinely cycled as the Dutch do. Here it's miserable 3%. .

    Electric taxi project

The first link is no longer valid Jonathan. Prompted by London taxi driver protests, these raids ( the quoted one was the last of several) used the excuse of the weight to take them off the road, but the 6th April 2015 changes in EAPC law removed all weight limits. .

It's Saturday night - why aren't we all out clubbing!?

Same message from me, same e-bike in use for exactly 9 years this month. It does what I want, no reason to change. .

If back to EAPC status you wouldn't have to persuade the council, it would be legal on any cyclepath or shared footpath. With weight limits removed since 6th April this year, it would just be an EAPC trike, treated as an unpowered tricycle or bicycle in law. That also covers bridlepaths and...

That looks fun, but I wouldn't like to try carrying it folded. On the second link a nice reminder of what we once had long ago in that sidecar outfit, part way down the web page. .

Electric Fat Bike Interest In UK?

It is indeed, great bike. Wanting to still pedal at 30mph with it's 20" wheels, the 60 tooth chain ring was the only option, short of a 5 tooth rear sprocket. ;) The supersize chainring was a French Zenith one, supplied by cycle engineers Highpath. .

Pedestrian filmed pushing cyclist off her bike

I fully agree and I don't in dangerous circumstances, but have probably brought a misunderstanding from what I posted. The driver concerned was already committed and couldn't have stopped in time even if he wanted to. My wave when braking was just signalling "ok by me". However, I strongly...
