But in the course of that, you were the one who incorrectly posted your bikes were legal, thus reintroducing that subject. I merely answered to correct that statement, to prevent others getting the wrong idea from your answer. .

Actually they are not of course. They do not have the required plate affixed to the frame in an easily viewed position displaying the motor rated wattage, the battery voltage and the e-bikes weight. It should also be remembered that for more than a decade almost all e-bike sellers have been...

That is solely about safety and not legality, so it's hardly relevant to the S class e-bikes which are produced for safe road and off-road use within the EU and elsewhere. They comply with the EU wide L1e class and conform to all the safety requirements of that class. That the UK doesn't...

Here's my reason Col. If I was still in the trade and was wondering whether to sell the bikes in question, the last thing I would do is ask legal or any other advice, since the lawyers answer would always be the safest, "Don't". If I did make the mistake of asking, the last thing I would do is...

    Changing front V brakes

I saw one online forum where the answer given was that the posts needed cleaning to allow the brake arms to seat right back. I didn't find that explanation too convincing though, having had this Shimano problem myself. I'm afraid Shimano love doing things differently and it often causes...

    Changing front V brakes

When in difficulty with a bike part, St Johns Cycles are usually a good source for information and availability, so worth a ring. I hit this same problem once on one of my bikes not long ago but solved it by some part swapping, so haven't a definite source of supply. .

A bit different John, in that an adult trike can tip quite easily to either side. The DiBlasi driving only the left rear wheel means right turns are easier since one can use that drive to facilitate the turn. Left turns can be difficult in some circumstances, particularly when turning into an...

I've understood your intentions Col, but I cannot see any of the parties you wish to contribute doing so. They are after all your competitors for e-bike sales and will probably be happy for you to never enter the sales arena in question, so have little motivation to assist. Your position is...

Probably ok once you get used to a trike again then. But since they are so close I'd definitely advise you to try riding one before buying, just to be sure. If you do buy one, you'll have to set aside some time for demonstrating the fold to others you meet. It's so clever and has plenty of...

Because it's a trike and you haven't ridden one for many years, and also an adult upright trike is very different from a kiddy's trike. However, the DiBlasi I tried only managed about 12 mph trying hard and is more comfortable at about 8 mph, so that helps. .

Fortunately from the safety point of view the DiBlasi is very slow, but unfortunately it's folding nature, though very clever indeed, makes it rather bendy on the road. It also tends to lose traction on left hand turns due to it's one wheel drive from both motor and pedals. Altogether not a...

As EU members we are entitled to implement the L1e class permitting up to 45 kph and 500 watts rating. To do so means a simple regulatory change within existing vehicular laws previously adopted from the EU. The DfT is currently opposed to doing that, but reversal is certainly easy. However...

Giant electric bike - help pls

I'm practically certain that the battery will be SLA, judging by the size of the casing. Here's a photo of the original SLA Giant Lafree, showing a similar very large battery case with integral charger. (This one was crank drive): I don't know if that one will have a throttle, the original...
