We've cut our aid to India, so it looks like you're having to make up the shortfall! :(
Indeed!lol To tour the North, golden triangle etc..has to be done during our winter as to hot otherwise and Christmas time the most expensive...

My sister and husband went last year and spent as much for their tour as I am for a family of four.. because we cut out the UK agents that charge a bomb, and use the same Indian agents that we have used anyway...

However (if anyone's made it this far ), I had to remove the chainring lockring with the aid of a Birmingham screwdriver as I couldn't track down the right size extractor tool, and as a result, whilst it all works fine, I now have a somewhat battle-scarred lockring :(. The ring is about 5 cm diameter, and I'd be really grateful if anyone could point me to a source of both lockring and tool. I have hunted the web without success so far, and Bosch's website seems to have bits that are only accessible to trade users.
Sorry for any confusion, I read this as a circlip but I now see its a lockring and tool you are after. Could you take a picture of the lockring on the bike? I may be able to help you find the appropriate tool?

Regards
Martin

Eddie, I reckon you're right and that is the proper tool. However, I now also need a new lockring to use it on, or else I might as well continue using the hammer and screwdriver method that's already worked but spoilt the lockring's pristine beauty :(

so its not the larger diameter flat shinny ring in your picture (same as ebay link) but nut above it ?

edit:

Doh... got it, the link I posted is for tool (male) to undo your nut (female)

there are loads of pages of Bosch stuff on ebay you may well find what you need or contact the sellers and ask if they can help.

Hi Martin

This range looks excellent, and if I had a few extra hundred quid spare I might have looked at this at the same time as my Ave XH-3! I'll renew my lottery subscription, that might help...

As others have said, some posts in this forum have floated a question-mark over support/parts for Haibikes in the UK. My experience - as someone who isn't inclined to maintain/fix the electrical parts himself - is that good support needs to be local. Hence, if you can join a bike repair network (do BEBA do this?) then any repairs required by your customers can be handled locally, saving on delivery costs both ways.

It's the shiny ring with 8 notches in it that I need Eddie. As far as I can see, both your links lead to the tool needed for its removal.

Well he seems to be OK whenever i repeat the video, so he must have made that massive big drop.

Mountainsport.
That ski slope has a 38 degrees angle of gradient, which converts to a slope of 78%.

Yes, he did make it to the top, winched up on a rope attached to the headstock of the bike...returning to the bottom via the maintenance cradle.

Hello Hugh,

Hopefully this lock-ring is a part we could stock direct from Bosch in the new year.

In the meantime, the part you are after is called a spider lock ring, these look almost identical to some of the spider lock-rings we have used in the past used on some middleburn/shimano cranks.

We should have a measure up but I think its worth a fiver to try this -

As for the tool, the official Bosch one looks good but expensive too, if its only going to be used once in a blue moon. I would use what we use in our workshop, a 'C' spanner or lock-ring wrench.
This will do the job and its also more versatile so you may be able to apply it to other applications too.

Always a handy tool to have kicking about -

Park Tool Fixed Gear Lockring Wrench | Buy Online | ChainReactionCycles.com

Both available in the UK for about 20 quid. With next day delivery.
You will need the lock-ring wrench anyway so the middleburn lock-ring might be worth a pop whilst you are there ordering.

Like I say Im hoping to have the official parts in start of next year. We are going to try to keep a big stock hold of this sort of thing so you are never caught out like this.

Hello halfer -

Thanks for your reply, glad you like the range.
As do I agree that there needs to be good support for these bikes if its going to work in the UK.
Hopefully we can achieve this, we are hoping to stock in a good amount of spares, that along with a good knowledge of the bikes from our team should make thinks easier for the end user.

As for covering the whole of the UK? I think this can be done.. :)

Hugh, thread running at the moment on German pedelec re front crank. It's recommended that you replace with steel not aluminium and a few makes are discussed..... extralight and FSA

These might be for 45 not 25 bikes though so best check

There is another much longer thread further down front page re chainring, it starts where chap wants to reduce his, to help more on the mountain, but develops to discuss what you are doing...these guys have even managed to fit 2 front chainriings....

Parts here maybe?

Hi All,

result - Bosch (Looks as if we both found the same site Eddie)

I've ordered lockring and tool. The tool's pricey, but will get used, and the lockring's 11 euros, which I can live with.

This is interesting as well :p - 1A Tuning mit Dongle für 26 Zoll Bosch E-Bikes

Martin - I beat you to it! I've already tried CRC and the Middleburn ring - way too small sadly.

I await a parcel from Germany with interest ;)
