I have had success trying the 36 combinations.

3 combinations result in smooth running ( I have the rear wheel off the ground- haven't ridden the bike yet)

7 combinations result in the motor turning in the wrong direction.

the other combinations result in very rough sounding turning of the wheel.

What I would now like to know is which of the 3 combinations is the best?

I can't tell the difference visually or by listening.

Is there a way to measure the current flow on the 3 phases to obtain the optimum configuration?

Or should I take the bike for a ride and experiment with the 3 good combinations?
In theory, all three are equal, but in practice there can be slight differences, You can only see the differences by measuring the no-load current with an ammeter/wattmeter and measuring the wheel speed. General advice is to choose the one with the smallest current and highest speed. I don't think it's anything to get excited about as the difference would be small.

O.K I have no way of measuring the no load current combined with wheel speed so I won't worry about it.
I will take the bike for a ride.

Another great result thus far, let us know how the rides go. As vfr has mentioned the difference will be minute so test all three on the road and go with what feels best.

Well I have taken the bike for a test ride, it's certainly not delivering the power like it was before I changed the controller . It seems to be running like the power is about 1/2 .

I think I possibly need to change some of the parameters, possibly experiment with C2 which is currently set to 0?

P1---120 (I put this value as I worked out the reduction gears were in the ratio of 6:1 and I have 20 magnets. so 6 x20 = 120)

P2---5 ( motor pulse magnet setting)

P3---1 ( change relationship of pas to throttle)

P4---0 ( throttle can work at any time)

P5---15 ( battery voltage level)

C1---5 ( Pas settings )

C2---0 ( Motor Phase Classification Coding Mode)

C3---8 ( level of pedal assist)

C4---0 ( throttle works full power)

C5---10 (max controller output)

C6---3 ( back light brightness)

C7---0 ( crusie function : zero =off 1 = on

C8---0 ( motor temperature- only works if sensor installed)

C9---0 (password) I don't use one

C10---N

C11---0 ( communication protocol setting) leave at zero

C12---4 ( minimum voltage cutoff - I have 36 v battery so have set to 4

C13---0 ( regen braking)

C14---2 ( pas tuning setting)
