  1. Whilst I think the cyclist was totally wrong and foolish to pursue the car driver, the car driver was wrong for overtaking, I even used to give parked vehicles a wide berth when I was driving my 3.5 ton van, and I have seen an accident (car on car) when some fool opened a car door without looking, so I don't blame anyone whether cyclist of car for wanting to keep clear of parked vehicles. But as I say the cyclist should not have caused the confrontational situation by going after the car.
  2. I don't cycle when its raining and/or high wind unless absolutely necessary, I had enough of that weather when I was working (part of my job was working outdoors), raining or gusty I use the bus, (except on Sunday - when there isn't any bus), but I will try to use the ebike if the weather is not too bad, though it's usually going to the shops or family, struggle when its cold as my fingers go numb.
  3. See halfway down this pdf https://assets.digital.cabinet-office.gov.uk/media/560aa6c7ed915d035900001a/the-highway-code-road-markings.pdf If for whatever reason you need to stop on a red route just lift the bike onto the pavement (don't ride on pavement though) Also, don't forget to check 'Bus Lane' signs, many (but possibly not all) bus lanes also allow cyclists, it will show on the blue sign if cycles are allowed, obviously being careful not to 'under-take' a bus (or you could end up at the undertakers).
  4. If you show your dealer the bottom of this page, they should be able to source one, or simply enquire with the Sandown place if it is the correct one for your bike. http://www.sandownpartsshop.co.uk/category/Smart_E_Bike,b.html or this one if your in Edinburgh http://www.easternwestern.co.uk/smart/electric-bike/
  5. An interesting discussion, am I wrong in assuming that commuters in the past were limited to £1000 (or at least wished to keep to that limit) in order to comply with the cycle to work scheme, so there could have been occasions where people would like the best components but knew they were not going to get them and comply with this limit. I do 'leisure - shop - family' cycling so cant comment on commuting.
  6. If the bike was sold by this company, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Benelli-Letizia-Electric-Bike-e-Bike-Brand-New-2015-Model-/261872648296 then its the same as the address above (in Adlington). This Ebay advert suggests a garage in Liverpool selling them http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Benelli-Classica-N3-Pedelec-E-Bike-/191778505618?hash=item2ca6e3c392:g:i5QAAOSwwPhWkOzN if you still get no response from anyone, Adlington is only a few miles from where I live so could pop round and ask them if they know of someone who could help in Liverpool, (well - when the weather turns a little better as I don't have a car)
  7. I can't really help as I'm newish to Ebikes, at the bottom of this page http://www.freeflowbikes.com/Technical-Manuals/ expand the Wisper section, and at the bottom is the service manual which covers a few Wisper bikes from that era, maybe it will have a bit of information in there.
  8. As for stopping, the brake lever cut of switch (assuming its fitted) should prevent the throttle from activating, However the one on my bear is way too easy to operate and switch on. A while ago I got back from a ride and didn't switch bike off at first but lifted it into the hallway, I hadn't realised I'd caught the switch which turns the throttle on, and as the handlebar brushed the wall the front hub burst into life, fortunately I have some hardboard which I stand the bike on, so it just spun the wheel on the hardboard, and lifting away from the way stopped It instantly. Although I find the throttle handy for quickly getting out of side streets onto busy roads, I do have to be a bit careful sometimes (I now switch off the bike outside.
  9. What an interesting thread, just finished reading from start to finish, one odd thing for me about this guy is that he clearly states he has insurance (which he states in another video), but as he rides about 30mph on throttle only I would doubt any insurance would still be valid, so can't decide if he is just trying to fool people watching the video's or if he is just fooling himself.
  10. What a disappointing read for me (about the weather not the bike), we finally got some nice weather and I've been suffering a bad back for 2 weeks so can't ride the bike, getting better but will still be probably be another week or so before I can get back in the saddle Look forward to reading more of Lucy's adventures (and Juicy Lucy's as well).

Not commenting on whether to stay or leave. But one point raised has caught my eye, No idea if these figures are correct as I got them from the internet, but the last figure I saw said 1.26 million UK citizens in the EU (more in Europe as a whole), obviously using facilities in the respective countries, however I also saw a figure of 3 million EU citizens living in the UK using our facilities, so if correct then in that respect - we lose.
  12. There is this statement, quote - "Accuracy of interpretation: We endeavour to ensure that our interpretation of the law is up to date and accurate. However we cannot accept liability for any information that may be inaccurate." So effectively he / she is saying if its wrong - then tough
  13. This dryer may be a bit over the top for an E-bike http://www.bikedryer.co.uk/master_blaster_bike_dryer.php

Me - I'm undecided. The main reason is that EU today is not what was signed up for, this phrase from the EU, quote "The EU budget doesn't aim to redistribute wealth, but rather to focus on the needs of all Europeans as a whole", I see as complete rubbish because redistribution is exactly what has happened. Pretty much all countries that joined after year 2000 take out of the EU far more than they contribute according to figures available in 2013, and are subsidised by existing countries France, Germany Netherland, UK etc. (except spain) to me that was not the original principal of the EU. Secondly, I don't want any immigration figures forced on the UK, we are a tiny island and already have a population area percentage greater than most other EU countries, our own population growth over the next 20 to 30 years just won't support a large influx of people. Anyway those my two areas of concerns about the EU.
  15. HI All. Over Christmas I had a minor problem in the form of a deep water-filled pothole, which I hadn't seen due to raining hard and water across road, result was a damaged rear rim and bent axle, which was unfortunate as Woosh were closed over Christmas, anyway Woosh service was great as I ordered a new wheel on Mon 4th Jan and it arrived Tuesday 5th, I fitted existing freewheel, tire etc and now back on road again. Anyway as its been a lot of years since I'm messed about building a wheel I thought I'd take the old one to bits and build it back up from scratch (with new axle) for practice, I know shops use a tensiometer but got to wondering if any home builders recommend them, or do you just use the 'spoke plucking' method,
  16. One of the best things I bought this year was a new phone with 'True-call' monitoring, (the one I got was from BT). Since retiring I got really fed up of all the 'spam' phone calls, even if I didn't answer the phone would still ring, since getting the new phone I've had a very peaceful time, not perfect and no good for businesses but works great for me.
  17. Sorry - it doesn't mean much to me (being a newbie) but posting in case it jogs anyone's memory, reading these from similar lcd sound to me like it can only be done by programming the controller. http://wooshbikes.co.uk/2014/cstkit/lcd-manual.pdf http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/24v36v48v250w350w-controller-display-set-control-panel-lcd-dashboard-for-electric-bike-scooter-moped-mtb-tricycle-scooter/508050_32464390144.html
  18. Hope its OK posting this, I’m just happy. First thanks again to trex for his advice about efficient battery usage. I used to do this circuit quite often when I was a kid, but with a lot of years of bodily neglect and body abuse at work I thought it would be a good challenge for both me and the bike, the king meter reckoned it was 44 mile (google says 43 mile), I did peddle all the way (much of it on level 1) but after about 30 miles my legs were really starting to tire, so alternated between level 2 and 3, and I knew I still had a killer of a hill to climb, not particularly long (about 0.9 mile) nor steep (12.5% in places) average 6.7%, but after a long ride I never looked forward to it, anyway following the advice I’d been given the bear handled it no problem at 8 to 9 mph in assist 4 (out of 5). Whilst I could manage it as a kid, without power I’d have been walking up it now, going up the hill the power showed 1 bar, but on the flat nearer home it showed 4 bars, and 2 bars on shorter hills so the bike could have kept going - unfortunately I couldn’t, all I can say is I’m very happy at the way the bear performed, its a heavy lump but that’s offset by completing all the tasks I’ve asked it to do. I haven’t done a review of the bear as there are already 4 reviews. http://www.woodturningcad.co.uk/bikeride1a.gif http://www.woodturningcad.co.uk/bikeride1b.jpg If you want to look at Southport pier use street view on google maps.
  19. Just seen this new advert for hoverboards
  20. Many thanks trex for the detailed reply, that's good to know, I just need it to stop raining long enough now to give it a try.
  21. Using pedal power - not throttle, am I correct in assuming that that whilst level 1 (lowest) wouldn’t really be assisting much at 10 to 15 mph it would still be using battery power up to the cut-off limit, or would level 1 cut out sooner. Reason for asking is a 40 mile round trip where the middle 20 mile is reasonably flat, but roughly 10 mile both start and finish is a bit up & down so I would need to ensure there is enough battery power left for the hills near home, and wondered if resetting the cut off to 8 or 10 mph for the middle 20 mile would conserve some battery power rather than just use level 1 with normal cut off level (I probably cannot maintain 16+ mph over 20 mile).
  22. My computer is my TV (on my second monitor). and I can adjust the size of it
  23. Thanks flecc and trex, I'll have to experiment in the new year.
  24. Sorry for title but it sums it up, on a longish ride today I found out my backside isn't cycle hardened yet, so wondered if for an occasional cyclist, whether people think a softer seat is better, or padded pants, I have the standard seat which came with the bear as I was considered a bit short for the ncx seat. Thanks ....... Andy
  25. I doubt you would have any problem, I think it was purely the weight which caused the bear a bit more a problem, your a lightweight so should make it easy
