  1. Be that as it may. When techs move on from a dealership job ..they move on with the tools of the trade!
  2. Is it legal though plugging your own contraption into a public lamppost?
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6IyukCIia8:18
  4. Warranty return . Instead of a BMZ! Offers.
  5. I have about 12 Warranty return BMZ Brompton batteries. Some of them incorrect diagnostics and just replaced under warranty. I have no means of testing them. First reasonable offer secures. Buyer collection only from East London.
  6. You could also more than likely get your collar felt by PC Plod under the all encompassing Constructions and Use Regulations....ie using some contraption looking a bit dodge on the Kings highways and byways!
  7. Not sure I'd implicitly trust Chinese manufactured goods by the labels stenciled upon them lol..And has there been any successful prosecutions?
  8. I am now confused! I have seen dustbin lid motors with '250W' stenciled on them . Are they legal?
  9. I find his politics repugnant.
  10. Should you ride a bike on public roads that LOOKS in anyway sus...Rest assured sooner or latter PC Plod on to you. That said given that Watts=Volts X Amps. as long as your system satisfies that equation...Nothing to worry about In my view.
  11. Go for it .Its not Rocket science nor brain surgery! And will probably set you back less than a night out with your mates at the boozer KKkkk!
  12. I have messed around on a few of those Freego bikes. Should the controller and or display go south, I replace with this one from Amazon. Also available under the Brainpower brand from Ali-Express and E-Bay https://www.amazon.co.uk/KSTE-Electric-Controller-Brushless-Waterproof/dp/B08C28V6P7/ref=asc_df_B08C28V6P7?mcid=0edcbeb0e65336bbbebfb978ad6f2dea&hvocijid=7013976026555308105-B08C28V6P7-&hvexpln=74&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=696285193871&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=7013976026555308105&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=2826&hvtargid=pla-2281435176658&psc=1&gad_source=1 Edit: And No. The display is not waterproof!..Ask me how I know lol!

  14. An aspect worth bearing in mind vis a vis these e-bike related fires is a fire can be ignited elsewhere in the vicinity a lithium battery and cascade to said battery combusting.I know of such an incidence where a house and business in south London totally burned down...Was on BBC news a few days ago.
  15. Jumped on the ebike bandwagon almost 20 or so years ago way before E bikes were mainstream.. Electric /Electronic tech by profession so a no brainer really. First Ebike was a crusty old front drive brush motor Powerbyke .Got it cheap batteries dead. Sourced some Lithium brick batteries that completetly transformed the bike. Now gone through saeveral iterarions of various folding ebikes and whatnot. My current favorite ride a once abandoned 24V Argos E+Plus 20" wheeler . For extra range I have a battery off a disability mobility scooter...that currently retails £900.00 and gives me trebble the range my measely original 8Ah jobie!!...I was 70 last July BTW.
  16. Yeah.Building a wheel is all about patience and painting by numbers really!
  17. VERY very good question that!...Pretty sure they come in a myriad of disguises. The most common being magnet disk thingies. There is also various other torque sensors. Years ago, had a bike with a brushed motor that had a huge torque sensor incorporated in the bottom bracket. I imagine the modern Bosch/Shimano/Panasonic ones something else altogether.
  18. Yeah. But doesnt that also lead on to upgrade controllers etc....In my case hardly worth the bother on a 12 year old bike!...This battery was gratis BTW. Was just curious why its so expensive.
  19. Sure.Plenty other el cheapo 24 batteries out there. But this particular one why so expensive? All it says on the aluminium casing is Panasonic cells and UN38 listing....Will post pics later. Incidentally it has transformed my hitherto lacklustre ancient Argos E Plus ! ..Well chuffed.
  20. So I scored this 24V 17.5Ah battery originally for a mobility scooter I presume. I happen to have an ancient E+Plus pluse an equaly geriatric Zippy scooter both 24V rating...Result! Anyway, upon googling it,its a current item. But.The price literally floored me! ...Just south of a £1000.00 ...What gives?
  21. Yes you can..Sort of. Left pin + right pin -
  22. A 'dry' spliff..Sorry/ joint perhaps!
  23. Been there and done it!...For drills and such like it's not an issue IMHO
