NOT a happy bunny !
Worst thing that happened to me was when a chain link snapped...15 miles from home...no quick fix there ! I had to ring the wife to bring the car. Now i carry a spare link and link remover tool. The big question is if the frame snapped would i carry a welding unit around with me ? but then i would have to carry a long extension lead !!!. Has anybody thought of starting a breakdown service for cyclists ?? haha

NOT a happy bunny !
I have had about 6 punctures in 3000+ miles. Furtherest from home was about 4 miles. I just pumped it up again twice and managed to get home. Each time it has been a thorn...lots of them around here....I can't justify the expence of SMP's yet but if the punctures increase or the tyres get worn then i will..I always carry a puncture repaIr kit...and 2 spare tubes just incase the pump won't get me home

London in Flames!
It would help if we didn't pay them to sit on their lazy backsides so they can enjoy their drink and drugs..They get dole money so give them a brush and a binbag and get them cleaning up the streets. If they don't do it then they don't get anything. All this had nothing to do with the guy who was shot, just an excuse to get freebies from any premises they can break into. To say society has let them down is absolute crap. Go and look at any third world country and they would realise how lucky they are. Moronic scum...thats the worst i could say on the forum.

Another few miles on the clock
I haven't really rode along it...i only went up to it today. One day i will give it a try, providing it doesn't get my pride and joy dirty !!

Another few miles on the clock
After doing the ride with the 24% gradient 3 times in the last week which was 38 mile round trip with a lot if climbing, plus a 3.5 mile detour and a further 21 miles after tea last night,i thought i would do an easy tide today. The intention was to ride to Gisburn (of Renault advert fame), appox 18 miles but a lot flatter. I reached Gisburn and noticed the first light hadn't gone out,so i thought i would carry on until it did. At 19.8 it finally went, but i thought i might as well ride the next hill and then it would be a 40 mile round trip. I then decided that i might as well make it 25 miles each way. I then reached a sign saying skipton 3 miles. How could i resist ! I rode on to the barge hire place on the Leeds-Liverpool canal just as you get into Skipton...27.42 miles. A 5 min break and then time to return....a lot slower....with a few stops. The 2nd light went at 48.6 miles. Total ride was 54.85 miles and my average heart rate was 125...The 181 max at the start being due to bad connection with my chest ! To be honest when i got back i was shattered but i will do it again one day. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/102378374

Pro Connect Concerns
I suppose its just like cars and any other appliance, occasionally an odd rogue one or two get through the system. I have just completed 3000 miles on my 7speed Agattu. Broken chain link at 1000 miles New gear shifter at 1200 miles Adjusted gears 4 times 5 punctures Thats it,pretty excellent so far. I am sure once your teething problems are sorted you will have many thousands of miles of very enjoyable cycling and you will soon forget your initial problems,Good luck.

50 mph club
I keep telling the wife that i am going to buy a camper and do Alpe D'huez next year
-
50 mph club
yes,Garmin 500 is really good .There is a training aid that will import your rides and show gradients against time etc. Its a shame it doesn't show it on that graph though. The 149 bpm wasn't always like that,at the start of the year it was more like 168 !

50 mph club

50 mph club
today the 50mph club is a little less exclusive. Funny thing is it didn't really feel like i was going that fast. The fact that i achieved 52mph is an even bigger surprise.Almost 38 miles, two whacking great hills, one of which i rode up had a gradient of 24% at one point. samlesbury-waddington-dunsop bridge-ribchester by carpetbagger1 at Garmin Connect - Details I am now going to put my feet up and watch the 'Tour'

Panasonic Error Codes
On the 16% and 20% gradients i rode up i was still seated. 50c rode up Alpe D'huez...what more can you say...... it looks like i miss read my data, the 20% gradient was actually 22% recorded on garmin training centre software. you wouldn't want to ride up steeper then that !!!

Panasonic Error Codes
i live in a quite hilly area and regurlarly ascend 12% gradients..with relative ease,,,in fact i have even ridden up a 16% gradient. they are superb hill climbers...lance armstrong in a box !! just looked back through my rides and the steepest gradient i have ridden is 20% on this ride http://connect.garmin.com/activity/48267165

Is this an electric bike or not? what do you think?
i have seen this before, suspicious yes, speed increase seems quite significant. But all the bikes would be scrutineered and would have thought that would include weight which would definetly seem very strange that his bike is signifiantly heavier when they try to knock grams of and i am sure any strange buttons would be found. But i might be wrong ........

Kalkhoff Agattu Range: 9 Charges of 18Ah Battery
i have now done 3 conditioning charges with the following results charge 1.....1st light-16 miles.2nd-22. 3rd-19. flash-10 total=67 miles charge 2.....1st light- 13 miles. 2nd-20. 3rd-21. flash-11 total 65 miles charge 3.....1st light- 14 miles. 2nd-21. 3rd-16.5. flash-16 total 67.5 miles This was riding on 1:1 on mixed terrain with strong headwinds. Looks like at a pinch i may be able to squeeze a 100 mile ride if i use mixed low and medium power as i would normally do.

Is Speed Dangerous?
i agree but you would probably get the whole car parked in as opposed to half of it. Defitely the way forward though
-
What a bike!
I agree it is always windy in your area. The other week i rode from Samlesbury to thornton cleveleys. It was a 61 mile round trip and managed the first 38 mile minus 200 yds under my own steam. Coming back it was a gale force headwind !!! and i needed the help. I will keep a look out next time i am there. Enjoy your bike !

Video of "Across India by electric bike"
If they get through any Indian city unscathed they have done well. With bikes, motorbikes cars,tuc-tucs and lorries coming from all directions they are very brave !! Throw in the odd stray cow and dogs makes it even more interesting. Its a bit of a culture shock the first time you experience it...

Is Speed Dangerous?
The biggest problem for me is people pulling out in front or turning right across the front of me,it seems that because i am a cyclist i should crawl along and wait for them. The air zound has had a lot of use recently, espcially the two ladies who turned right across me and didn't even bother to look. If i had been a HGV they would be in the cemetary now. Most people are ok but some just can't judge my speed or more likely can't be bothered waiting. Personally i don't mind the HGV's crawling behind, at least it shows they are aware of you and are willing to give you space before they pass you, better that then them cruising past and giving you just a few inches of road space.

Fastest speed on an e.bike.....just for fun
its not really nutty....i regularly get over 35mph without trying, its just a matter of doing it in the safest place possible..ie nice smooth road and very little traffic although it would be nice to have a few people around to pick up the pieces if it goes wrong !!!. A thorough check of your bike is also higly recommended.

Fastest speed on an e.bike.....just for fun
43.6 mph for me but now i have the 18a battery i plan to find a safe bit of road to join the exclusive 50 mph club...watch this space.....

E Bike insurance recommendations
My insurance is with the AA and during the quote i specified my ebike and it didn't affect the quote. It actually went down this year. Nationwides insurance added £85 about 2 years ago. I would get house insurance via the comparison sites then mention the ebike when you start getting the barrage of calls wanting you to take it out.

Kalkhoff Agattu Range: 9 Charges of 18Ah Battery
ok,thanks for that. Just re checked and charger is stone cold. i thought perhaps it may have been the cells have to balance over time so discharging them early would prevent that. Thanks for the explanation.
