  1. The drivers might me grateful at not having a death on their consience irrispective of whether it was their fault or not.
  2. Completely agree although on the programme last night the company that owns the cement mixer that killed one woman has fitted their trucks with sensors so they can 'see' the nearside blindspot. Perhaps all manufactureres should fit similar systems as standard........that doesn't mean the idiot cyclists shouldn't stop what they are doing though.
  3. We did same with our kids, better bikes and cheaper than here.
  4. Nice to see these more powerful bikes appearing, but i am more than happy with mine, its got many thousands of miles left in it and when alls said and done it gives me that help up hills which i would probably never attempted. One day i may have the very latest bike on the market..but not for a long time.
  5. so who has the best bike then ? I have....£1300 in the sale mods that take it to approx 21 mph that cost £16 (off road of course) 18a battery that will take me over 60 miles with mods it will go up any hill it will come back down at 50mph+ if i hold my nerve 24a available if required Its all personal choice and the size of the wallet, still its great seeing arguments for and against....keep it up,it gives me something to read whilst working
  6. Just downloaded and connected my Garmin Edge 500 to it..Gives a lot of details on the ride wit co-ordinates etc. Wonder if the gps will work with the gps co ordinates on my Pansonic TZ30.
  7. the intention is to clear the roads then him and his cronoies can knock everyone off their bikes or as they cross the road.....problem solved
  8. I didn't hear about that, what happened to him?
  9. You are making me feel so guilty now Eddie, but then when some club racer passes me i loose that guilt That might put some people off buying a Bosch though....
  10. I would closely inspect the chain links,i had a similar click which resulted in a link breaking and the chain coming off....15 miles from home...missus wasn't happy playing AA/RAC to recover me and the bike I now always carry spare link.....
  11. I'll take my chances around the ribble valley and trough of bowland thanks Flecc, but i see what you mean, just not for me though.

Technically correct,Openreach is part of BT.....but all work that comes to Openreach is dealt with in the sameway. BT work is not given priority, they are a service provider like all the others talktalk, plusnet whoever. Openreach works completely seperate from BT.....and the regulator makes sure of this. Openreach contols the external network outside so all service providers are its customers, including BT !
  13. I thought the driving was ok...just the cyclists dangerous, both to themselves and others. I don't exactly hang about but i definitely wouldn't ride like that in a busy city. Its far too dangerous.. Leaves you open to personal injury claims if you hit someone. From what i had prevoiusly read i was under the impression that cyclists quite regurlarly get hit by cars and its the drivers fault. From my experience yesterday its quite the opposite. The cyclists are 'asking for it' fast and nowhere near visible at night. Its nice to be home
  14. I was in London yesterday and left at 8.30pm. I was amazed whilst walking back to the station at the amount of bikes, the speed they were travelling at and the lights on them. There were a lot more bikes than i imagined...weaving between the taxis and buses. They where travelling far to fast given the traffic and pedestrians at junctions The lights on the majority were appalling, thats if they had any. In the afternoon my son nearly got knocked down by one whilst crossing the road. The cyclist cut through some bollards at speed on the wrong side of the road to turn a corner. If he hadn't shouted my son could have been seriously injured. After seeing cyclists in London i know now why we have a bad name....but its not like that everywhere.......
  15. you should have got a Panasonic Kalkhoff, change the motor sprocket...10t,12t,14t...a 16t would be interesting and only 10 mins to change......
  16. wasn't a lot of the merchandise for the olympics made elsewhere by NONE british companies. KEEP WISPER BRITISH
  17. probably the opposite 30mph to 0mph in 1 second.
  18. i nearly said in the other thread yesterday re cycle network that its probably safer here than london due to less traffic i am glad i didn't now
  19. i will be the producer and cameraman, we just need a rider or 2 now
  20. "British Cycling is calling on the government to put cycling at the heart of transport policy to ensure that cycle safety is built into the design of all new roads, junctions and transport projects, rather than being an afterthought." High profile accidents will help convince the government that more has to be done as the number of cyclists increases, now i am not for one minute suggesting that Team Sky gets its riders on the road in their all Black kit at night but........................
  21. maybe we should use the american way and get a gun............... I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?
  22. Bradley Wiggins has been knocked off his bike and suffered broken ribs .If this doesn't show there is a need for safe cycle routes in the north then nothing will. Its not a great advert for others to get on their bike.
  23. Actually there is one section near me where there is a cycle path that goes under the motorway and avoids two busy roundabouts where there is exit and entry to the motorway, but after that you are back on dual carriageway either side . Mind you three miles in the other direction and i am heading into countryside so i suppose you can't win all the time....
  24. In that case my apologies ,there is no excuse ! Up here cycle lanes are seperated from mainstream traffic by white lines and painted cycles.....you wouldn't believe how safe they are and how much protection that paint offers you.
  25. A couple of hundred metres of nice and safe cycle path don't constitute a safe cycle network. Its no use having a little bit of network when the rest of your journey is 5-10 miles mixed up with the rest of the traffic. Its a start.....but they have to interconnect or there would be no signifiacant gains.
