Thinking about getting an E-Bike
Before I got my Powabyke a few years ago I hadn't really ridden a bike any distance. The Powabyke Euro got me into riding up to 30 miles or so. I wasn't overweight or unhealthy but I wasn't fit either. I then wanted to ride further so I got a Kalkhof Agattu which allowed me to ride to about 50 miles and go up any hill. The next step was an 18A battery for the Agattu which took me to the 70 miles + range and then combining the batteries was a real day out !. A lot of people who look at E-Bikes ask can you get from them as they help you so much that they can't be of much benefit. Well the answer to that is in in the following link, something that a few years ago I never thought possible for myself. My advice is buy one, reap the benefits and see where it can take you,you never know what you will be doing when you have improved your fitness. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/11141595.Samlesbury_father_and_son_in_London_to_Paris_bike_ride/

Cars are driven faster than the law permits on a mega scale in all areas. On motorways when I travel at 70mph...the legal limit...90% of cars pass me....the police choose to ignore it..it is still illegal. The point is most illegal pedelecs can't even keep up with an average club rider and even on one of Tims S class ones you would still find it difficult. I am all for leaving the speed limits for pedelecs the same because if you up the speeds there will always be someone who wants on even faster one. Just apply the same rules as the police apply on motorways for cars. If somebody rides too fast in the wrong conditions and is a danger then throw the book at them..and the that applies to any cyclist which has been done recently.

Now I have been branded a criminal I have amended my signature. I suggest all the other criminals identify themselves in the same way so that newbies know that they should steer clear of us.

As long as riders are blasting through public areas in an irresponsible manner then there is no problem with bikes that have been....designed....to do 25/28mph. For the rest, myself included (mine assists to 21 mph) then again I see little problem after all the police have been allowing people to drive at 85mph on motorways and turning a blind eye yet that is breaking the law.

I had a legal Agattu, an £8 motor sprocket made it illegal. It doesn't really matter what 50 cycles sells as long as they state or its says in the literature that it is illegal on uk roads, it then becomes the buyers responsibility. Personally I am more bothered about the thousands of uninsured drivers in cars and people on mobile phones driving than a few pedelecers coaxing an extra 10mph out of their bikes.....the law is an ass and a very big one at that. I hit 25mph on my road bike on the flat on Sunday, yet if I was on my Agattu S then I would have been breaking the law, possibly had my bike crushed, points on my licence, fined or even jailed . YES THE LAW IS ONE VERY BIG ASS

software or app to show gradient of hills etc
If you download garmin training centre software and import your ride into it, it will show the gradients on the ride you have done.

How fast do you go downhills
52 mph fastest and several times over 40 mph. Always make sure bike is in top condition and road and weather safe for those speeds though.

Pro Connect Problems (Dying?)

My first commute - feeling hopeless :(
Don't give up. Everyone can be a bit wobbly after not riding for a while, as your confidence and strength improves so will your balance and your speed. As for the journey after a few rides you will remember which way to go without any help and you will probably start experimenting with different routes to see if there is a more cycle friendly way. As the weather improves you will enjoy the experience so much more. Good luck and most of all enjoy PS watch out for potholes in the road/pavements !

Your Views
In my quest to raise as much money as I can by doing a London to Paris charity ride in aid of Children with Cancer UK I a wondered would people be interested in being in with a chance of winning a Garmin 500 edge, new, boxed with a receipt worth £160 for a donation of £2. £2 would give you 1 name in the hat £4 would give you 2 names in the hat etc Would you think it was a good idea and would you support it if the chance arose ?

London to Paris cycle ride
Hi All, I have decided to do the London to Paris charity cycle ride in july 2014. I will not be using electric power on this occasion, hopefully I should be fit enough to complete the ride on my roadbike. All monies raised will go to Children with Cancer UK. All you have to do is click the link below and enter the details,it goes straight to an account and then on to the charity I appreciate that it is a long time until the ride but the sooner I hit the target amount the sooner I will be able to concentrate on the training to complete the ride. If there are any businesses who would like to sponsor me then you are more than welcome. It would be great if you could have your name on a shirt or cycling shorts for me to wear and add any donation to my page. Maybe a Pedelec uk shirt and donation ? Please pm me. 280 miles , 4 days and one sore backside ! Feel free to forward the link to anyone who may also be able to help. Thanks for reading and I hope you can help a great charity. In praise of the 18ah kalkhoff battery

£94million!!
crikey, you mean you have roads fit to cycle on ?

Just purchased 2 Kalkhoff bikes
Hi Nomlad, I have an 11t/19t set up on mine, effectively make what was 1-7 gears 2-8. I can still ride up 20% + gradients and the higher gearing makes it better on the flat/downhill. I am sure you will enjoy the new mods.

Yet Another London Cyclist Death Today
i followed a cyclist today whilst taking wife to work, he went from left side of road to centre then back to left totally oblivious to our car behind, never even glanced behind, then went the wrong way down the middle of a one way street. If he doesn't get knocked off on way back he certainly will be very soon. Totally incompetent and shouldn't be on the road. oh, and he went through the red traffic light as well

Happy birthday.................
I don't think you ever stop liking a pedelec, you just clock up the miles and the smiles and go for longer rides.

a step back in time
I looked at several on line cycling forums and the consensus is that its a £1000 bike for £300,thats why I went for it. I reserved one in Stockport, went to pick it up and with help from the guy at the store decided that I needed the next size up, which they hadn't got. I have now ordered correct size on line for tues/wed delivery. It has two bottle holders Flecc, one for the SIS energy drink....and the other for the Guiness ! Countryman, they were helpful in sore and they could have let me walk out with the one which was too small...but they didn't...and I got to try them up and down in store. Jackhandy....big question is will it be a road rocket with me sat on it.......mmmmmm I will try to take some pics when it arrives

a step back in time
I have decided to take the plunge and buy a Btwin tribal 3 road bike. It will be a big test to see how much fitter my Agattu has made me and whether I can complete some of the 20/30 mile rides in similar times. I intend to pick it up tonight. I doubt whether my Agattu will be up for sale though as I like it too much.
