February 3, 201412 yr I ordered Jan 14, was informed it wouldn't be in stock before Jan 24, they sent it Jan 29 and I received it Jan 31. How much duty/tax was added?
February 3, 201412 yr As far as I can tell, no tax or duties, but they might come in later, as I had it delivered to work, where we send and receive dozens of DHL packages daily, mostly documents, from a few pages to dozens of cartons with 500 sheets of paper in each.
February 3, 201412 yr The likes of DHL and UPS usually invoice the "extras" including their admin charge ( which can be £20ish ) up to a fortnight after the delivery. Anything arriving via the post office or parcel force gets held and won't be released until the duty is paid. As for what you get charged, it seems to be a lottery.

I concur, that's exactly what happens for me, every time. The Post Office don't deliver until the duty plus an "admin fee" is prepaid, and Fedex always send me an invoice through the post a couple of weeks or so after delivering the parcel. The amount they ask for usually tallies with the calculation from this website: http://www.dutycalculator.com I tried ignoring the first one, but they did persist, eventually threatening legal action very strongly....
February 11, 201412 yr The bike is a huge success with my son, but I have trouble keeping up with him uphill. He is now cycling with the same vigor as before his hip disease broke out. I have the limiter set at 22 kph, but on throttle alone (disconnected when he rides) it takes me to 30 kph !!. Does anyone know of an EU-source of bolt-on V-brake adapters for the rear brake? This one is $25 at Danscomp https://www.danscomp.com/products/489051/V-Brake_Plate.html , but shipping is $40 ! Currently there's no rear brake, but he's used to using an efficient V-brake up front. http://endless-sphere.com/forums/download/file.php?id=129842 http://endless-sphere.com/forums/download/file.php?id=129841 http://endless-sphere.com/forums/download/file.php?id=129843
February 11, 201412 yr Masculine colour? Oh Puh-leeze, don't start Rome wasn't built in a day. If we end up having to braze pivot points for a rear V-brake on the frame, the paint will have to come off anyway.
February 11, 201412 yr Wass the problem, kimo sabi? Hi ho Silver, Away! That could make you first in line for a silver bullet, probably me second now:eek:

February 22, 201412 yr The other day he did 2 times 14 km with his mother to and from her work, today he and I did 31 km, using 4200 mAh from the 5000 mAh LiPo pack. End idle voltage was between 3.65 and 3.71 per cell. http://endless-sphere.com/forums/download/file.php?id=129842
February 23, 201412 yr I bet he had a grin from ear to ear. That makes for a light weight assist with only needing one battery.

August 7, 201411 yr I tested the BBS01 18A 350W today. You have to push a bit on the pedals, no longer just rotating the cranks. Could have sworn that there is a 'click' when I start pushing on the pedal and a 'click' when I stop pedalling. It seems like some kind of pedal sensor, it cuts the power immediately when I stop pedalling. The motor is dead quiet, fanstastically better than my 18 month old 15A BBS01.
August 7, 201411 yr not. It does not feel as powerful as the BPM motor though. The '36V 350W' is printed on the underside of the motor. You need to turn the bike upside down to see it. you have to push on the pedals a bit, making it very close to riding a Bosch bike. There are quite a few improvements in comparision to my 18 month old motor. Better display, more setting options, the bottom bracket nut is now covered by a very pretty cap. The most noticeable is its quietness. The new motor is so quiet!
August 7, 201411 yr Author Is it legal if it's 350W? Unfortunately they are all illegal until the law is changed:rolleyes:
August 7, 201411 yr Author ZZzzz Why did you ask the question if you are not interested in knowing the answer?
August 8, 201411 yr there is a difference. A manufacturer can slap their EN15194 sticker over it, and we can't. That's why I've been posting about unfairness when more powerful motors like the BPM and Impulse and Bosch Performance are street legal and the 18A BBS01 is not.
August 8, 201411 yr Why did you ask the question if you are not interested in knowing the answer? It was rhetorical essentially. But you choose to answer another question which I didn't ask, and one which some here ride as a hobby horse. Anyone who has been on this forum for even a couple of days could hardly fail to have seen the endless pointless wrangles over that.
