Hi Martin,

Any of our Heinzmann and eZee bikes can be de-restricted for use on private land.

Do you have link to the actual bikes? What speed increase is it?

Thanks

How about my wife as commission, she has many good qualities, but low maintenance isn't one of them;)

Just so you know, NO wife is low maintenance.

Do you have link to the actual bikes? What speed increase is it?

Thanks

Here's the link to the web site Martin:

They will hopefully be back in later to let you know the derestricted speeds of the various models.

Ahem.. Haibike + Tuning Dongle = Success

Full Crank Drive eMTB's starting at £1850!

Oooops did I think out loud? ;)

Martin

Is the tuning dongle to increase the power/speed?

Martinr......if you want to spend about £1k ....the Kudos Tornado or if you are tallish the Kudos Typhoon, both can be derestricted to give 19 mph out of the Tornado and 23 mph out of the Typhoon,I suspect that the Tornado is the top selling electric mountain bike in the UK.

They are both very strong hill climbers.

If you want to spend about £2k then any of the KTM Panasonic hub bikes, you have the KTM pedigree from the motorbikes, they are the best hill limbers around at this time, but restricted to 15 mph.

Don't be in a hurry,Eurobike show is on now, there will be old models for sale cheap and new exciting models out soon.

Kudos and KTM is sold through the London Electric Bike Company,Hampton Wick.

Keep your powder dry for a couple of weeks!!!!

Hi Martin,

What ever bike you decide to buy, because of your location battery capacity is crucial. No matter how beautiful the location being stuck in a remote area with no power would not be fun.

If you are going to spend £2k then look at the Kalkhoffs. I tried the KTM range and loved it, then afterwards I got to go on some Kalkhoffs and there's no comparison. Get a Pro Connect, it's absolutely superb and went up my 1 in 4 hill almost with no effort. The KTM also went up the same hill but took much more effort. The Impulse 2 motor with 17Ah 612Wh crank drive machines - really powerful and absolutely silent. I have now tried almost every bike available in UK at this price point now and have just bought a Pro Connect after many hours of test rides around hilly Bristol.

I was looking at the Volt Alpine X at £1949

How do these manufacturers get away with calling something with a wheel base that looks longer than the length of an oil tanker, an mtb!

Cheers, I am going to wait to see what's new and if there's some decent price drops, the Typhoon looks good also.

I reckon I need something to cover 30 miles or so, most of the tracks are dead ends, I've been along all the tracks on the map, there's an old track that runs up to Ben Lawyers, the summit is 3,983ft, I've done it on foot, wishful thinking on a bike from my side anyway.

Is that a mountain bike?

No. Focus is the Derby Cycle premium MB. Kalkhoff is their premium road range. 50 Cycles website.

This KTM E-Race P is considered by many to be one of the best at £2150

I'm going to see this bike tomorrow.

I'm going to see this bike tomorrow.

Let us know what you think. The Focus bikes are serious off-road machines but cost £3k-£5k depending on the set-up. There were some hard tail Focus bikes for around £2k but I think these are all sold out.

I've updated our off-road page with the current and coming line-up

Focus Jarifas are the hardtails, Focus Thron are the full suspension models. We import the Impulse 2.0 centre drive ones rather than the Xion variants. I've been putting a lot of miles under the tyres on a 250W Focus Thron premium up on the South Downs recently. It's completely changed what I think about what electric bikes can do.

Here it is at Chanctonbury Ring on Saturday - I doubt anyone (especially anyone over 40) has completed the climb from Washington car park faster than I did that afternoon, it was ludicrously powerful.

The Shoreham-by-Sea airshow was on so the final stretch of the ride was accompanied by a B25, Dakota, Spitfire, Lancaster, a Vulcan bomber and a Eurofighter Typhoon. Brilliant.http://www.50cycles.com/assets/site/images/IMG_20140830_191059.jpg

The photo demonstrates the point of tucking the motor up inside the frame triangle, out of harm and dirt's way.

I even had time to do a bit of geocaching while I was up there. There's a whole new hobby, e-geocaching.

Looks like he didn't dodge quick enough

There were only a few puddles early on and they were taking up the best line, what could I do?! I turned into a pig farm later on by mistake, but was much more careful going through that bit.

Very few cyclists when I was up there, late Saturday afternoon. Nor many walkers. Strange really, it was perfectly acceptable weather.

Whereabouts is that bridge you found? Great photos.

Very much off thread, but whilst doing something much more mundane on Sunday afternoon, painting the garden shed, I was alerted by the magnificent sound of Rolls Royce Merlin engines as a Lancaster made a spectacular low level banking turn over our garden, even Mrs Cyclezee said WOW.

I guess it was either en route for a fly past at the Moto GP at near by Silverstone or returning from a raid on the Kalkhoff factory at Cloppenburg.
