June 11, 20169 yr Well I just had to part with some wedge for this bad boy Hope to try it out tomorrow
June 11, 20169 yr Great stuff - congratulations. I've not spent much time with the Yamaha drive unit but did give it a whirl at a demo day recently and enjoyed it. Lapierre certainly know how to make a good looking bike. Let us know your thoughts once you've spent some time with it.
June 12, 20169 yr You are going to love it! I can see those trails at the Forest of Dean are going to get some serious useage! Nice one.
June 12, 20169 yr Bought the same^^end of october last year (largest frame size)..got 960m on the clock..pretty sure i,ve done quite a bit more as have dongle fitted which makes nonsense of the readings..anyways..what can i say..tis a cracking bike..if i had the choice again i,d buy it again without a 2nd thought..although a bigger 500w batt would be nice ..the only thing i,ve had to do to it is tighten the 4 allen bolts up that hold the front chain rings on..they all came loose after a few 100 miles...no probs with them since...but keep checking them...been reading your last few posts an i knew you,d buy it as soon as you clapped eyes on it...tis a beast.
June 12, 20169 yr Congratulations. I'm still waiting delivery on an FS700, so would be interested on hearing about your first impressions.
June 12, 20169 yr Author Well guys I had my first real ride today and all I can say it's a great bike to ride, it's not like the oxydrive kit I had on my other bike, there is nothing wrong with the kit, I did over 800 miles with it and I was more than happy with it. But this new bike is in a different class, I just love the way the more you pedal the more you get from the motor and the breaks are ace. It's all good so far but I only did just over 20 miles today and most of this was in the wood with a mix of all the power levels and I still had 60% bat left.
June 12, 20169 yr you want the badd ass dongle as its easy to remove other wise you have to fit the others inside the motor case. that will take the top speed to 35mph if you have the gearing to get going that fast. also at that speed it will nuke the battery be lucky to get 15 miles out of it.
June 12, 20169 yr Congratulations. I'm still waiting delivery on an FS700, so would be interested on hearing about your first impressions. We have a medium (44Cm) left in stock if you're struggling to source one....
June 12, 20169 yr even if you could get it going that fast there be no way you could keep it there for very long even in high assist mode. the dongle lets you use a lower mode and removes the 15mph limit so can go faster. if around 25mph then will get about 30 miles on my bike in the bottom 2 modes. just depends how much effort you can put in to how fast and how far you can go.
June 12, 20169 yr Author I may look at one of then at a later date. I did see a video on YouTube where the gut put the magnet on the crank arm and then he put the sensor on the outside of the swing arm
June 12, 20169 yr that trick does not work anymore bosch or Yamaha motors. this is all the dongles for all the motors atm http://ebiketuning.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mdeq0gwrp0
June 12, 20169 yr with this there is no limit and the speed ect is still the same on the display. http://ebiketuning.com/shop/product/74-peartune-mso-for-yamaha.html
June 12, 20169 yr Chris do you ever get up my way for a ride? Yes, we're due a trip down there soon. We could meet up if you like? Better for me during the week when its not so busy.
June 12, 20169 yr Author Hi Chris Sounds like a plan, just let me know when you are up this way and if I can make it we can meet up
June 13, 20169 yr Paul What dongle did you fit and what's it like with that on? Tis as sw said...dongle fitted inside motor so no idea what type it is.. an it does eat the battery...wouldn,t be without it myself though...way too much fun..
June 13, 20169 yr that trick does not work anymore bosch or Yamaha motors. this is all the dongles for all the motors atm http://ebiketuning.com/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mdeq0gwrp0 That trick certainly does work on my recently bought 2016 Haibike. Fitted a spare speedo magnet on to the end of the pedal threads and fitted the sensor outside the chains Taylor job done!
June 13, 20169 yr if it works with out throwing up error in the display then you are lucky but doubt it will work for any length of time. all its doing is changing the wheel size and doubt you will get it up to 35mph like that even if it did work. try it you never know until you have might save 100 quid on a dongle but i doubt it
June 13, 20169 yr Author Don't think I will go down that road if it will put a fault on the display, I don't want to mess up my new bike.
June 13, 20169 yr i doubt it would work anyway tho the error will be the 503 sensor magnet not in the right place. if you get a bad ass 1 you can remove it and reset the bike and back to factory settings.
