LOL.

Something is wrong there. I can understand the cx SOUNDING like a hairdryer ;) however it should be six of one and half a dozen of the other power wise!

Its the yamaha syncdrive that sounds like one lol. Must be twice as loud as the Bosch.

Ye you'd think so. On paper the syncdrive only has 7% more torque , but it definitely felt totally different to me.

All I know is on the Cube I was thinking this is actually pretty boring, maybe I'm already used to the power having ridden a few . Then on the Giant I had a massive grin, blasting around this green almost like I was on a motorbike haha, it was brilliant.

Rutland Cycling pointed out that the Giant Pro has an extra sport mode, to be lively. As you said, hardly need to pedal at all. Something akind to a throttle or a cadence sensor bike..

Ye. I don't know what my range will be. But it's staying in that mode a lot haha

Fascinating. Most people find the Bosch to be the loudest, which makes sense as the motor is running faster due to the 2.5 times internal gearing needed, while the yamaha uses a conventional sized chainring.

Maybe your hearing is better at the lower frequencies and you just don't hear the higher pitched whine of the Bosch as much?

Possibly. I quite like the sound of them so it doesn't bother me. But 90% of the time I was on power mode, so not sure if this somehow has any impact on noise. Maybe they're quieter on regular Yamaha powered bikes that don't have the syncdrive power mode?

those rims didn't last 5 minutes! lol.

[quote="Jamie82, post: 444416, member: 10321" Also tried a full sus giant which was really nice, but too expensive for me.

Looks like you have +1 bike already sorted.

Perfect number of bikes is N+1. N= is number of bikes you own.

Haha no they didn't. Hopefully was more about what he hit than the wheels themselves.

Haha brilliant. Don't think I'd have the money for another. I also have a rockrider so doubt that will ever get used again.

I will do a review as soon as I've had it for a few days. Should get it Tuesday.

Congrats on the purchase,

going on your description of the syncdrive it sounds like its a cadence based system as opposed to the common torque sensing set-up.

anyone any more info on this?

it's a torque sensor bike but tuned for instant start which helps heavy riders.

Give it a year and you'll be looking at FS to add to your collection.

are you suggesting he'd have broken the Giant Pro within the first year?!

If I do the guarantee should cover it. I'm within the 22st weight limit and the frame has a lifetime guarantee. I haven't broken my decathlon rockrider so this should be fine.

Maybe lol. The full sus fatbikes look fun too.

your old Rockrider is less than half the fun to ride, that's why it's not broken yet. If you break it, it is because you have too much fun with it.

Ye true, they should cover it as I won't be using it for anything it's not advertised to be able to do, and I'm within the weight limit so they wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

it's kind of funny when you look at it. I have never thought of e-bikes going downhill, Of course they do, but I always think of e-bike going uphill or canal paths when I am looking for a new frame or fork.

Hope he doesn't break it. My experiences are rider comes off 2nd best in crashes.

James initially said bike was for exploring forest trails, I get impressions he is now looking at more MTBing tracks. As he pushes Gaint's MTBing capabilities he'll soon start looking at FS bikes.

Of course it depends on your target market, I wish I had spent a bit more on a better fork (maybe my next upgrade ) nearly every time I go out on mine I'm using most if not all of the travel. Brakes also need a lot of consideration when you have an extra 12 - 15kg of bike to stop.

95% will be woods and roads .I live right next to some nice woods, that's where I cycle most nights already. But I do have hadleigh Olympic cycle track up the road and I went to Lee Valley trails the other week

Ye. Great on trails where you have lots of uphill as well though. I went to Lee valley the other week and had to stop after 10 miles. My legs were shot, so it'll definitely help.
