I haven't got one but general owners' opinion I have seen here is positive (unlike the very different Crossfire which has given lots of people woes). There are disadvantages to the Bosch system, particularly if anything goes wrong out of warranty it can be very expensive and slow. The dealers can hardly do anything other than software updates; the motor has to go back to Germany. Also when you need a replacement battery (should be some time away yet) it will be expensive; but at least it should be easily available.

Two services often recommended here that you may want in a few years time (I haven't used either myself)

performance line bearings for motor repair (https://www.performancelinebearings.com/)

Jimmy for battery recell (maybe not for more recent Bosch batteries) ?? https://ebikebatteries.co.uk/ ??

We have a similarish 2nd hand Raleigh Motus, 2016 model, still going well.

Crossfuse with the Bosch drive should give better reliability then the Suntour Carrera's, the issue though is cost of system repair once you are left all but high and dry after the warranty expires. Bosch (not the only ones) leave a lot to be desired once issues occur after this initial period.

George Henry found this out with his Yamaha bike when his battery charge point or discharge connection broke, fortunately he didn't give in and made good a repair that saved several hundred pounds.

I had one for 2 years and did 2500 miles on it around the Peak District and never had any problems at all and found it ultra reliable.

Thanks for replying guys, seems like I made the right choice of E-Bike for my Wife.

Feedback appreciated

If cleaning the bike don't use a hose pipe or power washer near the motor.

The Carrera's with full Suntour from top to bottom aren't too bad. It's the models that mix and match displays, controllers, etc from other brands that tend to be troublesome. The full HESC+ models generally aren't bad at all and should not be confused with the pick 'n' mix models that were responsible for most problems.

Last Summer Halfords were modestly claiming thst they were selling more Carrera ebikes in the UK than every other brand put together. According to Halfords more than 1 in 2 new ebikes are (or at least were last summer) Carrera.

Now go back over the last 5, 10, 50 pages of this forum, and count up the threads from people having Carrera trouble, and then do the same for threads from owners of other far less common brands having problems. Carrera threads are clearly in the minority, despite being in the majority for units sold.

So the reality is demonstrably quite different to the opinion that some pundits like to bandy about as "fact". Even the (relatively) more troublesome mix and match equipped models don't seem to rate threads anywhere near as often as lots of other brands, yet somehow seem to get a lot of stick that the raw numbers suggest they don't deserve.

I certainly wouldn't do that anyway; none of my own bikes have ever seen a power washer , and hose only on my old MTB. All road bikes I use wet wipes and cloths .

Don't think the Carrera crossfuse has had any bad press from reviews or user forums; all I found was positive comments for the Crossfuse. Bosch Motor and Bosch control System.

I believe the Crossfuse is still has the Bosch ALP (active line plus) motor. my Cube has the same ALP motor, I’ve never had a problem with it and I’ve do in excesses of 3000. miles

That's good news, it's an inline 400 Bosch motor; Cube now gone to the bigger motor with 500 and 625 - but the In -Line-400 gets good reviews.

Thanks for your reply.

Does anyone know anything about removing the speed limiter on these? I know it is a mid drive e bike which you can usually move the sensor to up the speed but I can't find anything online?
