June 9, 201015 yr Just curious what would i have to do to make a usb power point from a 36v system? sorry to post technical questions in here but i am not allowed to post in the techie forum for some unknown reason
June 10, 201015 yr You need a converter from 36 volts to 5 volts, preferably capable of supplying the standard 500 mA for a USB outlet. These are an oddity and I can only find one at Powerstream in the USA at $30.75. Scroll down the page to the block of four DC/DC converters from 24 to 120 volts and click on the centre link. Then click on the 48 volt version numbered PST DAA 4805. This handles a 36 to 60 volt input for 5 volts output. On the second page of the buying process, make sure you scroll down a bit and select a lower price post option, the USPS Express option is what I use, about 12/15 days to delivery. http://www.powerstream.com/z/dc12-48s.jpg To wire the USB socket that you use to supply power from the converter, view the mouth of the socket where you plug in, with the four metal contacts above the plastic centre support, then the contacts are numbered 1 to 4 from left to right, so you wire to contacts 1 and 4. Contact 1 = +5v Contact 2 = USB - signal Contact 3 = USB + signal Contact 4 = - (Negative/ground) . Edited June 10, 201015 yr by flecc
