Wobbling home on an unlit bicycle after having a couple is a fine rural tradition which should be celebrated and preserved.

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

The ad had been officially branded as misleading, the OP's email from the ASA is good enough to establish that. 50 Cycles has taken the ad down. For some reason, some of you on here appear desperate to support 50 Cycles. I couldn't care less about them, just as I couldn't care less about the...

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

The county court judge is not an expert on ebikes, he's not meant to be. He will be faced by a consumer who has bought an expensive item from a company whose advertising has been found to be misleading. The ASA is the accepted authority on these things, they have said the advert was...

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

No, the OP - quite shrewdly some might say - used the Advertising Standards Authority to put pressure on 50 Cycles to refund. As soon as that judgment was made, the game was effectively over. Had the ASA found the advertisement to be fine, the OP may have had to resort to other options - such...

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

What is the point of badgering the OP? He/she bought a bike on the strength of a misleading advertisement - that is a matter of decided fact - and now wants the company to honour the advertised promise. Far from trying to impugn the OP's motives, he/she should be congratulated for bringing a...

    Cheapest Bosch bike?

What is the cheapest Bosch bike? My nomination - which I'm sure can be beaten - is a range of Ghost/Bosch bikes all at £1,459.27 from the German retailer in the link. It says VAT and carriage included, so there should be no extras. The bikes themselves look fine, Ghost is a good make and all...

HELP - Can not tighten RHS crank arm - Kalkhoff Endeavor ???

One of my bikes is 10 speed, the other hub gears. I don't keep records, but it looks like the hub chain will last forever. No detectable wear on the pesky gauge after more than two years. Hub gear chains do last because the chain line is always straight, and the chain is not being dragged...

What proper tool for wheel truing?

Good question. If you have a root around, I think some sites give gauge sizes. Or it might be simpler - and almost as cheap - to look out for a set of three or four.

HELP - Can not tighten RHS crank arm - Kalkhoff Endeavor ???

I have two Bosch bikes and have yet to see an evidence of them eating chains. A Kalkhoff crank drive would put similar stress on a chain, so I don't see why yours should wear out quickly. You could get a chain wear gauge, but they tend to condemn perfectly serviceable chains. I shall run mine...

What proper tool for wheel truing?

Those round wrenches are, as you have discovered, generally rubbish. Maybe OK if used carefully for tweeking a single spoke, but no more than that. The loop ones in dedicated sizes do the job properly...

    Like riding through the woods?

Yes, I've seen occasional motorised skullduggery on the C2C where it approaches Washington.

    Like riding through the woods?

This crops up now and again, although I've not heard of it around 'our' way - north east. I'm always reassured by seeing cyclists (with their heads still attached to their necks) coming the other way on trails, or by seeing one up ahead.

Chain ring fitting, Haibike Yamaha 2015

I can't comment on the Clarks chain, but their brakes are known to be cheap and nasty. A KMC chain would be a safer choice, and no more expensive.

Chain ring fitting, Haibike Yamaha 2015

I agree, a front ring with the same bolt circle diameter should fit. If you want lower gearing, another mod you could consider is an expander ring for the back. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/ethirteen-cassette-range-expander-cog/

Chain ring fitting, Haibike Yamaha 2015

I reckon this mod will not be simple or cheap. If you want a narrow/wide ring because the chain is coming off, have you considered a clutch rear mech? Another simpler option would be a chain guide.

    50 cycles - misleading advertising

Civil litigation should not be entered into lightly - very much a last resort. But whatever the fine detail, the ASA's 'misleading' ruling is a strong card for the OP to play.

    Best Value Electric MTB

Unusually for an internet forum, I agree with every word of the previous post. The Oxygen MTB is a lovely riding bike, but was a bit dear at £1,700. At £1,200 it is exceptional value. It's still £1,699 on the Oxygen website, but my understanding is the two companies share the same ownership...
