I'might not suggesting that your service was anything but exemplary. It's just that circumstances conspired against all concerned.

I am not criticising anyone but I did not get this bit, why did you collect the bike after d8veh has fixed the brake binding? - also why On-bike did not sort the problem for the OP?

David has already answered these on page 2 of the thread, here's the excerpt:

QUOTE="Amps Electric Bikes, post: 335054
A few weeks ago I was contacted directly by Alan (PGChimp) he seemed to think there was a problem with a bike supplied to him by On Bike. Rather than take the bike back to Worcester, Dave, (D8veh) very kindly offered to meet Alan in a local car park and checked out the bike to see if there was anything wrong. As far as Dave was concerned he could find nothing wrong with it.

Alan was still unhappy, but rather than involve On Bike because we knew some of the history and Alan didn't want to go back to Worcester, we collected the bike (free of charge) so we could inspect it here.

what David did was much beyond what is normally expected from the manufacturers. Would the OP care to explain why he wanted to return the bike?

That's the only bit missing from the story. Some time after I fixed his brake, he perceived another problem, but we don't know what.

Firstly from what I understand the OP is a complete plonker/knob, he got the bike from a shop 45 miles away and couldn't be bothered to take it back.
d8veh kindly spent a few dozen seconds to solve an issue then tell the OP that there is now't wrong with bike, the answer not being to the OP's liking so he has gone on to a national open forum to slag off all involved which is bang out of order.
Secondly he has ordered and got a torque sensor bike and doesn't under stand how it works albeit is does have a cadence mode. He has paid out for it and probably more then he wanted and simply doesn't want it now but is now stuck with it as it is part of a cycle scheme.
Onbike can't help out as he has not by all accounts bothered to contact or speak to them and AMP's have bent over backwards to help out even though there is now't wrong at all with the original purchase.

I feel rather annoyed, and manipulated.
This is a great forum, I know we have our political differences re Brexit etc. but we are all keen e-cyclists and I feel a sort of camaraderie with members.
We now have two recent issues with new posters,
1 'Lost' keys etc. suggesting a possible stolen bike
2 Slanderous allegations in order to put pressure on dealers known to have a good and valued reputation.
We need to be careful in future.

Once again he goes above and beyond the call of duty because david and wisper bikes have a fantastic reputation on this forum. From all the posts i have seen on various threads people who buy wispers are always more than happy with them and the service provided.
I had hoped that by now the OP would have done the decent thing . D8ev you have been an excellent advocate for the OP and it is understandable that someone from outside the retail system may have started off on the wrong footing, but a fool's pardon lasts only so long. David, I am reminded of a saying I heard some years ago
"No good deed goes unpunished"

Thanks everyone for your support, it's very much appreciated.

To draw a line under this, the OP now has his proof of ownership.

I really hope Alan can now settle back and enjoy his bike. However if he has any further difficulties, my door (email) is always open.

Kind regards

David

Your too kind.. I am also a retailer who bends over backwards to help customers and we have great Google reviews but by now I'd would have to informed him that I would no longer be able to offer any further help.

I think Dave has responded very professionally to this. I don't doubt he's personally annoyed but has taken the high road and I take my cap off to him....

But as he said its time to draw a line under this and move on leaving this thread to die a death. As for the OP apologising. I doubt we'll hear anymore from him.

It would be nice if the mods could contact both sides..see if everyone is ok with deleting this whole thread.

Perhaps part of the problem is modern cars.
They perform so faultlessly, but are so complicated that only a specialist can unsort them.
My experience with bikes is that they need constant adjustment and attention.
I no longer need to blow my car tyres up, they get done at the annual mot.
Modern ebike purchasers, not used to the foibles of bikes perhaps expect the same level ,of reliability?

Good point. I can remember people on this forum complaining that the tyres on their bike weren't fit for purpose because they got a puncture. I know the retailers will be able to tell you all sorts of stories about these sort of claims.

Just a little foot note...

When we collected the OP's "faulty" bike (now with a very happy new owner) he didn't include the front wheel, saddle or saddle post. With his agreement we sent Tuffnells in (twice) to collect. Today Tuffnells have told us that they have been sent away being told there is nothing to collect.

I assume this is an error on Tuffnells part.

Kind regards, Gob Smacked of Sevenoaks!!

Sorry don't agree.

This thread, based on what we have been told, has panned out as one about a 'rogue consumer'. There have been other threads which I genuinely believe have been started by 'rogue consumers'.

If it had panned out as one about a rogue trader & the mods deleted it then many would be shouting that they had done so in their own interests.

I think it serves as a good example that we should have a healthy scepticism about some of the complaint threads we see on here.
