I do not have a KT controller/LCD/PAS.Can you set magnet number = 2?
Whenever my battery comes to the end of its life, I will be switching to a KT setup. But that could be quite a while and we'll probably all be in flying cars.

If your bike is legally configured I don't think you have anything to worry about. From what you say above, it was YOUR arm effort that was making the bike wheel go fast, not the motor. If your bike is legal, just relax, ride it sensibly and enjoy it.Yeah, I really needed a second person to do the filming. I was turning the crank by hand. So, on max assist just turning the pedals at a medium pace activates the PAS to the legal limit but if I turn the crank fast, it is obviously making the rear wheel go very fast. The thing is are the police aware of all this or would they just go for it to see how high a speedo reading they can get?
Yeah fair point, I just don't want to get my bike crushed because I've got the wrong sticker or something. If your bike is legally configured I don't think you have anything to worry about. Nobody is after people like you. I seriously doubt that cops anywhere in Britain are searching for people who come to a forum like this, and try to make sure their bike is compliant. There are real hooligans riding about and obvious law breaking. That's not you.
So this morning I went to get my bike out of the shed and the back tyre was completely flat.
So shoved a new tube in there just to be on the safe side.
Still, it gave me an opportunity to file just a little bit more from the drop-outs to get an even snugger fit for the axle.
So anyway then I got my bike up on my DIY bike stand and thought I'd try one of these police back-wheel-off-the-ground-speed-tests.

So when I'm pedalling slowly, sure enough the max speed was 15/16MPH, but If I pedal fast it would go over 30MPH.
The thing is, if you get stopped and they decide to do this type of test, how do you convince them to pedal slowly?
I do not believe rozzers are doing this stupid test.
Can you set magnet number = 2? Did that to my BBS01B and it's now happily showing half speed on this dumb and fictitious no-load pedal assist speed test, and it's very arduous for me to show much faster than 20kph pedalling by hand with the bike on a stand (I tied the bike frame to the stand's top tube with rope, in case the jaws/clamp failed, but it didn't). Half speed, probably because the second magnet (Cateye) isn't long enough, or as long as the Bafang kit magnet; the Cateye needs another magnet stacked and stuck on to be closer to the sensor. The Bafang kit magnet is stronger than the Cateye, which is stronger than the cheapo AliExpress spoke magnets. As is, my bike will pass this ludicrous and absurdly stupid fantasy test, if the fuzz go by just speedo readout.

I could afford being abducted and trapped in the boot of one of those. But that could be quite a while and we'll probably all be in flying cars.
They work fine. They have to for £179.Seen these components (photo attached ) on e bay .
For Yamaha and Similar one for Giant drive mid drive motors.
Has any one any experience of using theses gadgets .
Just wondering what the electronics experts on here think of them apart from they are a speed de restriction device.
It doesn't have to. Legal EAPCs are bicycles in law and bicycles have no speed limits in national law.If we take Carrera bikes for example does the motor actively reduce the bikes speed if you are say going down hill in the highest gear and it’s reached 15MPH pedal assist ? I don not think so ?
Seen cheaper ones around £150.00 , sculldugery lol !!!!!!They work fine. They have to for £179.
There are different ones that work in different ways. The ones I tried could be switched on and off with the light switch. Like that one, once fitted, they're completely hidden behind the motor cover.
No speedo, had receipt and bike situated signeage, no problem:So I would think lifting the back wheel and cranking an e bike is not an accurate test at all of the 250W Motor cutting out at 15MPH I doubt most Police Officers know or realise this .
Whilst all this is working its self out might be best for kit bikes not to fit speed meters or e throttles .

Had another go with two cheapo AliExpress magnets this time and.... speed was correct until a little over 27kph, then the controller became very confused and calculates speed = 16kph to 19kph regardless of how fast I pedalled by hand with the bike on the stand (tied the bike frame to the stand's clamp arm with rope, in case the clamp jaws failed with the motor's vibes, but it didn't). Same result when using two Cateye magnets. We're allowed 10% over 25kph = 27.5kph, therefore again, as is my bike would pass the no-load pedal assist speed limit test, if pigtailed fuzzball Jesus-beardy plod go by speedo readout alone. My BBS01B is quiet, I can barely hear it while riding, and I can't hear or feel it operating when pedalling by hand at high speed, rozzers won't be able to either - drowned out by the noise of the chain, cogs etc. Because there's no load, there's no voltage drop on the display, and my display doesn't have a Wattmeter, can't see if the motor is assisting.
My rear wheel has 14 spokes per side. Magnets = 14 is accepted by BBS01B firmware, but I can't install 14 mixed magnets without sticking thin magnets (stacking a 1.5mm and 1mm combos) onto the Cateyes and AliExpress cheapos, to make the distance to the speed sensor about 1mm.
With 7 AliExpress magnets, max speed displayed = about 7kph max regardless. Bafang controller was much befuddled and confused, but my wonderous bike of maximum awe inspirementation and absolute magnificence of the highest order possible in this universe or any other currently existing in this multiverse, passed yet again!
These AliExpress cheapo spoke magnets require glue to stop them turning on spokes. The Cateyes don't, neither does the Bafang kit spoke magnet. AliExpress cheapos are shoddily made pieces of shizz.
Two Cateye magnets will do the job, if I believed fuzzball Jesus beardy pigtailed tasermeister rozzering plod orificiers were doing this profoundly stupid test, and I most emphatically don't - curiosity got the better of me, hence this post.
I've placed two Cateye magnets as close as possible to the speed sensor, and the result is the same. I reckon it's a strange techno variant of scaremongering by trolls, but if it does turn out coppers are indeed stupidly testing pedal assist speed with wheel off the ground:I could afford being abducted and trapped in the boot of one of those.

Two and four magnets configurations work for that dude's BBSHD. With my BBS01B there's no immediate joy, but thank you for your post and the link.I dont think its necessary. It would be a full time job trying to stop them from falling off. But the guy below tried it.

Bafang Mid Motor: Multiple Speed Magnets
Some Bafang BBSHD and BBS02 programming tutorials say Speed Meter Signals must be set to 1 or bad things happen. They are right. They are also totally wrong.talesontwowheels.com
