Is there a governing body to report a rogue e bike trader/retailer to ?
I'm not commenting on the above, but just fyi, if someone did target a trader unfairly, one legal option for that trader would be to sue for damages for malicious falsehoods: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malicious_falsehood

My precious (golum wants to make it secure)
I always thought this would be a good idea: http://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/pages/US650082-0.png A saddle with a concealed sprung spike. It wouldn't deter a theft, but any their wouldn't get too far on the bike!*

Oxygen S-Cross Intermittent power loss
I took it back to syebc. After they had it a couple of days have now got it back all fixed. Problem they think was that the battery was loose on its terminals and everytime I hit a big bump (so often on Sheffield "roads") the connection was disturbed or cut completely. Have bought a pair of these to try and see if they dampen the vibration a bit: http://www.schwalbe.com/en/tour-reader/big-apple-plus.html £8 each at planet x at the moment. The low voltmeter reading was a result of using an analogue volt meter and rounding (minimum reading on the scale was +/-5v). I'm glad it was something simple and not the rain!

Oxygen S-Cross Intermittent power loss
Thank you both for the advice. I have: 1. Charged the battery and checked it with a multimeter, it is producing ~40V. I should note that the display doesn't read low 20V's for long, and after powering on and off or peddling a bit it reverts to high 30V's. 2. I've checked the rear motor connector, it seems pushed in as far as it will go. More worryingly, when checking the rear motor connector I noticed that the rear gear cable and motor cable have caught the front chain ring when going to lowest gear. Will be zip tying those two out of the way asap. Water damage does seem most likely, although disappointing as it was a shower at best. I'll take the display and control pad off the bike tonight for a good dry out. The front controller pad doesn't seem well sealed at all. I'm enjoying the bike and after a lot of spoke issues (had the wheel trued and it seems to have settled down) things were going well. Oh well.

Oxygen S-Cross Intermittent power loss
Following a ride to work in the drizzle last Friday morning my Oxygen S-Cross CB has developed an intermittent power fault. The symptoms are: Assistance will fade or cut out altogether when riding Turning the system on/off sometimes rectifies the fault, or it will cut back in of its own accord Sometimes when turning back on the screen displays that the battery is flat (the battery is fully charged, and the power indicator built into the battery indicated full charge -see attached photo for screen) If i continue pedalling when the screen is as shown in the photo, often the battery display will "recharge" hit around 35v, and the assistance will kick in again. I've tried disconnecting the brake switches and throttle, but none of those seem to be the culprit. Anyone have any ideas for what else to try? I guess I should take it back to Oxygen, but if it is something simple like a loose connection it seems daft to do so. Particularly as I'd have to wait until I'm off work as they only open Monday - Friday 9-5pm.

Gaadi double-ended inner tube
Seems a novel solution. I'd be worried about how easy it is to thread around the wheel. I swear by schwalbe marathon plus tyres. I was sold by this YouTube review: particularly the part at around 1.32. since having them 2 yrs I've only had 1 puncture from a 2cm shard of metal. Other than that I've had a safety pin. Didn't cause a puncture but caused me to stop because of the sound of it scrapping round the mudguard!

Bafang 8fun BFSWX02 36v 250w technical drawings
Does anyone know where I can find the specification for a Bafang 8fun BFSWX02 36v 250w rear hub motor? The closest I can find is this here: http://www.elifebike.com/upfile/dtpic/2012/8A/RK1S.8TKFU/8NQF6B_EWH14.jpg But that is for a BFSWX02-P. I'm not sure if that makes a difference. I'm trying to work out what length spokes I'd need for a 700c wheel.

I'm looking to buy an Oxygen S-Cross CB
The service is great, they offered to fix the wheel for me if I dropped in it, but I'm at work when they're open. "Sports mode" is the one that isn't in Oxygen's manual at gets me to 20mph... From the factory there are 6 assistance settings, and you can also select 3 power modes (Eco, Normal, and Power). I set mine to power and then adjust the assistance as required. I'm looking to buy an Oxygen S-Cross CB
I own an S-Cross CB and have been commuting 16 miles each day on it for the last month. It is a great bike, and very similar in feel to the S-Cross MTB. I am a great lump and have had no problems stopping with mechanical disks in dry and wet weather. I have had two problems so far: The joint between the seat post and saddle fails to stay level (see above- re: lump). I upgraded this to a suntour suspension post and have had no problems since. I have had two broken spokes so far. I'm unsure if this is because of lump/pothole issues, because the tension in the wheel is uneven, or whether by me setting the bike to "sports mode" creates too much force on the spokes. If I can sort the spoke issue, I will be very happy with the bike.

Reliable commuter machine + Sheffield Hills
I wouldn't buy blind - too expensive to just try and fluke it. Any bike which I can actually go to a shop and see/try will be towards the top of the list!

Reliable commuter machine + Sheffield Hills
Thanks for your replies. None of the bikes suggested were one I was thinking of! But that's good, I clearly need to do some more homework. These are the bikes I was thinking of: Woosh Big Bear Ebco UCR 60 Kudos Eiger Smarta Gt8 Would any of those be inappropriate? I will definitley visit SYEBC and check out the Oxygen Emate MTB as well as Juicy. @Flud -I'm not a teacher, what does DJW mean? I work at the bottom of Jenkin Hill (see here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW_oJhqfg1M). Thankfully not part of the commute, but I will try it on any bike I buy! I tried it on the first day I got the Motus, didn't make it, but I was still learning how to get the most from the bike. I'll have to give it another go before I have to return it.

Reliable commuter machine + Sheffield Hills
Hi All, I've been commuting 9 miles to work for the past two years on regular bike. After being clipped by a van, having my first child on the way, and a continuing desire to live, I've been trying to find ways of improving my commute. I don't want to get a car, and thought an ebike was worth a go as it will help me tackle the Sheffield hills when I'm half asleep so I can concentrate more on the traffic and less on slogging up the hills. According to Google my commute has the following hill profile, I do 495ft of climbing, and descend 295ft. I've been lent a Rayleigh Motus for a month to try, via a local scheme (http://cycleboost.org/). I can't recommend cycleboost enough for encouraging people to either get cycling or continue cycling in the Sheffield, Rotherham, and Barnsley areas. I've been really impressed with the bike, it has knocked 15-20 mins off my commute (depending on direction of travel) and allows me to sit upright so I can eye-ball any half asleep driver behind me. However, I think this bike will be out of my price range (I'm looking to spend up to £1500, preferably on a work cycle scheme). I'm 5ft 11", weigh the wrong side of 100kgs, but am otherwise reasonably fit. Finally, I'm strongly thinking of going for hub gears or a nuvinci hub as the dérailleur on my regular bike never seems to work properly and is forever dirty/worn (my current bike uses shimano tiagra stuff so not super cheap nor expensive, and I clean it weekly). I've got a couple of bike I'm looking at, but I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts on suitable bikes blind and see if they match my thinking! Thanks in advance. Frazer
