1. I893469365902345609348566 , how far away from the kerb are you in your videos? I remember reading a study that drivers tend to mirror the distance between you and the kerb (humans like symmetry), so the closer you ride to the kerb, the closer the passes. My worry with the reflector arms is that they could get caught on a passing driver and I get pulled along with them! I know they are more likely to break or have an inbuilt safety, but I still don't like the thought of it!
2. This is a favorite rubbish cycle lane of mine: https://goo.gl/maps/PuwcCeJyhztNVq946 Just disappears into the pavement. I refuse to use it as car drivers seem to otherwise think I will just disappear into the pavement too while they move over to avoid that traffic island.
3. So that's drink plenty of alcoholic fluids tomorrow morning and then see if that Artic has a. spotted me and b. is up-to-date on the highway code. I'll let you know tomorrow! ;o) -I've got most of my route sorted as quite road, cycle way or bridal way. There isn't a good solution for this spot unfortunately otherwise I would! Wow. Well I wont expect it! I don't know what the council is thinking here as there is a really well built cycle way on the A57 towards Worksop but it only leads to this spot at one end and a similar nasty spot at the other: https://goo.gl/maps/MCmrDVV6PUmEiVnx8 -road to nowhere.
4. Following this with interest and wondered how this impacts pedestrians/cyclists at roundabouts. On part of my commute I need to navigate junct 31 of the M1, and I use the pavement here: https://goo.gl/maps/QZbH5bxQw5zSF7uk7 It is not a pleasant crossing as cars often do not indicate and can leap from one lane to the other when leaving the roundabout to join the M1. I find it hard to believe they should stop and give way to a pedestrian standing on the raised paving waiting to cross there! Have I understood that is right and expected under the new code?
5. How frustrating. I have one of these bikes, bought from ebay. I've dealt with the German branch due to a failed charger. The bike is great. What a shame Leon UK do not appear to want your custom or to make a good impression.
6. I have a moscow which I bought from ebay. Had a faulty charger and couldn't get hold of the UK outfit. Ended up contacting the German arm who sent me a new one under warranty no quibbles, but that was before we became a strong and independent nation (gonna' wash that EU out of my hair...).
7. Just FYI on the reliability of Wikipedia I think it is worth noting they don't accept the Daily Mail as a source of information as they consider it to be "generally unreliable"! https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/feb/08/wikipedia-bans-daily-mail-as-unreliable-source-for-website#:~:text=Wikipedia%20editors%20have%20voted%20to,news%20group%20%E2%80%9Cgenerally%20unreliable%E2%80%9D. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Perennial_sources#The_Daily_Beast
8. The situation in China is improving with respect to intellectual property rights. Lego for example recently had a victory against copycats based on reputation alone (i.e. no registered rights involved). We also don't know what the OP has actually disclosed. It is one thing to say "I've developed a self-charging ebike are you interested?", it is another to completely disclose how the thing works.
9. I feel a bit sad reading the above replies and hope the OP isn't put off this forum (nor the person recommending the OP post here). I see a lot of new inventions in my day job and am amazed by how successful some inventions are which I think of as totally useless to begin with (like the electric toothbrush I use everyday which I thought was "totally pointless"). To the OP - I applaud you for trying something new. I can't help you get it to market but I can help you determine if it is new and protectable. If you need any help pm me. To inject some festive cheer this post from the IPO is a good read: https://ipo.blog.gov.uk/2020/12/17/oh-come-let-us-adore-christmas-patents/
10. Video here: Valeo automatic transmission. Claimed to be more powerful than other systems (probably because it is a 48v system). Also has an immobilization feature. Interesting anyway though not sure I'd be tempted to switch from my hub motor.
11. No so much disguise as disgust/heebie-jeebies : https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/my-precious-golum-wants-to-make-it-secure.25844/post-335295 *Post may be tongue in cheek and not to be taken as incitement to cause injury. Post is to be taken as non-serious suggestion
12. I've got the NCM Moscow. I brought it on ebay and used a credit card rather than paypal just in case. I think the motor and controller are the same. As it is a 48V system I found it real improvement on the hills compared to 36V systems such as the other two bikes you mention. All the mechanical bits are no problem and can be sourced from any bike shop. The electric bits are a bit more difficult. Leon cycles are sometimes not the best at customer service, but my bike has so far proven reliable (had it just over a year and it is is my main commuter, not that I've commuted since March...). If anything did go wrong there are some peculiarities of that system but (and I'm sure vfr400 will chip in) it could be replaced straightforwardly with a better KT system. It is a shame Oxygen don't have a 48V offer and I'm not sure about their revised version of the Oxygen S-Cross, otherwise I would recommend them.
13. The bike came set to normal. I agree it is a pain. Part of me is looking forward to the controller going pop and then having an excuse to move to a KT. When I bought it I'd hoped it would be set up more similar to the Oxygen S-Cross. I'm still happy with it though.
14. I confirm I am only able to access the power adjustment in the secret menu on the NCM Moscow Plus.
15. The menu to change between the Eco/Normal/Power settings on the NCM moscow in in a hidden menu., I'd guess it is the same for the Venice. Press and hold + & - until you're prompted to enter a code. Enter 8018 using +/- keys and press set to progress to the next digit. (there may be different codes, you can try such as 8088, 8007, 0512, 1512, 8036, 8778 which I've seen mentioned elsewhere). Press set to access the menu. Pressing set lets you access menus to change the power setting, and mph/kmh. On the moscow it shows the top speed/wheel size but these are not changeable. You may find that you select Eco/Power, but the display still shows "normal". However, re-entering the menu shows that the change has been made.
16. No way! That's an old article dating from 1/4/2010. One of the reasons I bought a hub motor ebike was because of reduced wear on drive train components. Not needed to change the chain yet and just give it a drop of Wilko Cheap'N'Nasty ™ oil occasionally.
17. I find it is all in the technique. I swear by this method: www.sheldonbrown.com/chainclean.html Do it every week never had a problem.
18. Leon cycles occasionally sell these which come with a thumb throttle: https://www.leoncycle.com.au/das-kit-off-road-private-land-use-only-display-kit~9504 The Australian company will, if asked very nicely, post to the UK (I got a pannier rack from them). However, they appear out of stock at the moment. I've looked at the Github for tuning the existing display. I'm tempted but in the absence of good instructions I think it would be easier to buy a KT controller and display instead!
19. You don't have to remove the wheel, although you may find it easier if this is your first time, likewise the tyre tube and rim tape. With the disc brake it depends on which side the spoke has gone and if the disc brake obscures the hole you need to thread the spoke through. I used to, with the wheel on the bike, deflate the inner tube, pop just a section of the tire off (or flex out of the way), lift the rim tape with a spoke lever underneath to hold it up, and then bend the spoke through the hole in the hub and rim -so it can be done without taking anything off the bike.
20. I use Park Tools patches and find them great: https://www.parktool.com/product/super-patch-kit-gp-2 I rarely have punctures so have suffered the cured glue problem before. These patches seem to last well though just slung in the pannier. I'm careful to really ruff up the surface of the tube and sand down seams before applying.
21. Thinking on this a bit more, I've just remembered I got my charger changed under warranty. Check the V output with a multimeter if you can. If it is below 54V then it is likely to be faulty. Mine was reading 49V. Not enough to charge the bike. Contacting Leon Cycles is a challenge though. You should be able to buy a suitable replacement charger from ebay or Jimmy. If you send your battery to Jimmy he may ask for your charger too, to check it as well!
22. Go to Jimmy at INSAT and have it recelled. https://ebikebatteries.co.uk/ He will replace the BMS if needed too. It will be cheaper and he may be able to increase the capacity if you wish too. He may be able to diagnose the charging issue, so you may not need a new battery either. Also check the battery to see if there is a blade fuse that may be blown.
23. Schwalbe Marathon Plus all the way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uz8fT13rtlk:83
24. Do you think the lishui Bluetooth module would be compatible with a Das-Kit system? I've heard it uses a lishui controller, but potentially with difference wiring?
