I don't think its a conspiracy

Just maybe a case of Admin judging that a line had been crossed ?

How forums work world wide..

1. Dont argue with a moderator (except by pm, and then its pushing ones luck)

2. Don't don't argue with Admin (except by getting a friendly moderator to put ones case forward ... may still result in a ban, lol)

3. Never ever ever **** a sys opp off (they can even ban Admin, and in another time and place.. have done )

No its not a conspiracy.... I seem to remember that they were both on a final warning....maybe they had PM'd russ and gone over the top a bit.

It just seemed to happen so suddenly, one minute eddie was posting the next he had banned under his name........

Lynda :)

I would love to know what line it is then.

Seems to me they have been banned for critising a advertisers bikes when can find just as obvious goes at non advertisers bikes that have gone with out comment.

Moderation on this forum has just gone from one extreme. ie virtually non existant with threads forced to be in wrong section as no way to post there (technical) and no moderators to move them, To now when people have been banned for having a opinion or quoting opinions posted elsewhere on the net.

Not impressed and if this gets me banned as well so be it.

I would love to know what line it is then.

Item 2 in my post above, lol

This is about as ludicrous as it gets, IMHO.

I know moderating a forum isn't easy (I'm a moderator on Endless Sphere, which is many times bigger and busier than this forum) but banning members because, it seems, they have been quite rightly critical of false advertising (which is how this appears to those reading this forum) seems to be just plain wrong.

I know that commercial websites need to tread a fine line between allowing free comment and keeping their commercial sponsors happy, but this forum had established a reputation as a place where the pros and cons of particular ebikes could be discussed freely.

It seems to me that a line has now been crossed, where pointing out apparently false claims made by a sponsor is likely to be suppressed, so significantly diluting the usefulness of this forum as a place for people to get relatively unbiased advice and opinion.

This can only be detrimental to the overall promotion of electric bike use in the UK, IMHO.

Personally I'd like to see better moderation of some of the stuff one or two vendors post here, as there is a fair bit of misinformation scattered around from some of them.

Item 2 in my post above, lol

Looks like im heading the same way then :D.

Seriously what are their crimes. If its something other than what I said then fine but a explanation would be good.

From experience when admin resorts to banning people for other than blatent breaches of rules which the majority can undersatnd people start voting with the keyboard and depart to pastures new.

But these guys were helping me choose a bike darnit!!!! I really valued eddieo's threads which I read before coming in here as it was good to get alternative view and somebody who was not a trader! Boo Booo Boooooooooooooooooo

let them back!!!!!!

We dont know that its anything to do with what they posted in the thread, its more likely it was maybe to do with their attitude privately with Russ afterwards.

Russ did say after the last time he banned them that it would be an immediate, no discussion ban the next time they stepped out of line.

It would just be nice to know the reason why so that we all dont go the same way.........

Lynda :)

They were both banned before and then reinstated after we said that we thought that the ban was a bit unfair and severe. After that, Eddieo transgressed a few times and got away with it. It seems a bit of a shame now because he was finally getting a bit of a sense of humour. Indalo has always been pretty harmless. Let's see what happens this time.

As mentioned above an explanation from the moderator would be helpful . The posts over the weekend from a number of members on an ebike topic descended into political/socio farce surely that was an example of where moderation should have intervened !!!!!

Like Garry if this opinion is not popular i too can find other sources /forums if required much more consistency is required

I just noticed something: Didn't there used to be a Storck banner advert on the right? I don't see it any more.

I wouldn't know Dave... I use Adblock Plus lol

I'd be the first to say that there are things that several members here post that I don't agree with, and that some occasionally post things that maybe they see as humorous but that others may interpret as being borderline offensive.

However, in this specific case neither Eddieo or Indalo posted anything that could possibly have been interpreted as offensive, even by the most sensitive soul. Their "crime" seems to have been a determination to expose misleading advertising, something that would be supported by the laws of this country and most members of this forum, I would have thought.

Suppressing inoffensive, honest, comment because it exposes a forum sponsor who has published confusing or misleading information is something that I personally associate with the more extreme political regimes of the world, not this forum.

Anyway my friend did not know they had moved away from margarine .

I get at least 50 toasted bagels per charge

still not fair as I was getting good advice!, Boo hissssss.

Well said! My thoughts entirely and I commented so on that particular thread at the time but nobody else chose to put their head above the parapet. Thank goodness I got enough info to chose my excellent Kalkhoff C8 before the forum hit the buffers.

There are still plenty VERY knowledgable people on here to help give you good advice wissy, dont fret.......;)

Lynda :)

I fret. I am new here and I am fretting. Thought they only did culls on Anglesey!

Boo Hiss thrice!!!!

Bring them back I say mean peeps. Cruel peeps. I will not buy a pedelec until you reinstate them!! There you go - you have a sit-in.........

The really, really, stupid thing here is that this action, presumably initiated because Storcker weren't best pleased by some comments here, have received far, far more negative publicity from this censorship action than they would have if nothing at all had been done.

Never underestimate the power of a bit of outrage over perceived unfairness to impact negatively on a companies reputation.

Personally I'm now going to go out of my way to suggest to anyone who asks my opinion about ebikes that they should avoid this particular manufacturer. I suggest others who feel strongly about this do the same.

Yea now were a Eddie free zone you forget all about those rubbish Bosch Bikes for starters :D

Seriously though as much as at times Eddie can be a pain the forum will be the poorer for his exclusion.

But, as yet, we dont KNOW that is why they have been banned do we, I think it might be counterproductive to presume anything unless /until we actually do know the reason why ....everything else is just pure speculation.

Lynda :)

And appreciably less entertaining , Indalo also I value his contribution .

From a happy Boscher !!!!
