March 20, 201412 yr Does anyone know of an alternative to this? I don't really want to buy one for just a once a year job, and looking on you-tube the vid using a big wrench doesn't look too cool either. Any advice appreciated...
March 20, 201412 yr I can't see the point of trying to bodge the job for the sake of six quid: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/x-tools-crank-extractor/rp-prod10181

March 20, 201412 yr I've used one of these, but with the ends pointing inwards, I can't seem to find one online,it's a Park tool similar to this. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Park-Tool-SPA1C-Cycle-Bike-Mechanic-Bicycle-Bottom-Bracket-Cup-Pin-Spanner/310844889623?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.RVI%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20840%26meid%3D5624658139475800207%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D9297%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D181337526533

I tapped the ring around with a blunt screwdriver and a hammer. Came off no bother at all. It is plastic, by the way.

March 20, 201412 yr Hi, The tool is only £29.99 on my website here - http://www.e-bikeshop.co.uk/bosch-spider-tool It's the sort of tool that is only used once but makes your life 100times easier when you have it. The amount of plastic lock rings I sell because people have 'mashed' up their current one and probably scratched the in the process. At current we have only the performance tools in stock. I am expecting another 30 spider tools in when they are back in stock with Bosch. Regards Martin

March 21, 201412 yr It is 100% not that tool on CRC. The Bosch spider tool, is only available from BOSCH. Regards Martin

March 21, 201412 yr Expecting a big load shortly, however the Germans have not given me an expected so looking like at least a couple weeks. I do have spare spider lock rings in though, should you end up using the screwdriver in the meantime. Regards Martin

Hole in front of casing...
March 21, 201412 yr No worries. May be worth logging your order, just so your in the queue to receive when they do arrive. http://www.e-bikeshop.co.uk/eBike-Spare-Parts Regards Martin
March 21, 201412 yr Need to tighten mine but how does the pedal 'leg' come off for spider tool to fit. Had it come loose twice now and nice farmer happened to help me on Wednesday with tightening it with a big wrench.. Ironically my brand new spider tool was at home. It is now packed with the bike.. BUT I undid the bolt on pedal leg but leg would not come off??

March 21, 201412 yr Thanks.. Had thought crank meant the bit inside? How come the pedal leg won't just come off after taking the bolt going through middle of it? (Female logic)
March 21, 201412 yr Thanks.. Had thought a crank was the inside thing and that pedal leg things would simply come off.. Strange that it's not that simple.
