February 15, 201511 yr Looks alright to me Eddie , those speeds are something I can only dream of on my Batribike Folder . To achieve 15 + mph my legs would be going around so fast it would hurt . I only ride on tarmac not scrambling routes .
February 15, 201511 yr The chest mount has made things pretty 'bouncy' and I guess that I need to play with settings to get things sharper. It'll be fun trying though. My biggest issue, was the uploading to YouTube. it took an hour just upload that short clip. It kept mentioning encoding the clip to make things faster, so I might have to get an 8yr old kid to come round and show me how to do it. I'm not good with technology!
February 15, 201511 yr V pleasant to look at, but doesn't get the licence plate of the car passing. That is one nice screen btw, makes the ordinary b&w LCDs others are using (including mine) look like something from the late 1980s!
February 16, 201511 yr I just got this one for £80 from the Cycle Show. I'll post a review when I have some footage. It has a lot of interesting features, the main one being GPS. http://www.myactioncamera.co.uk/shop/cameras/ac32-sport-plus/
February 17, 201511 yr Personally, I have a Polaroid xs100 which i've had for a few years now. It's waterproof down to 10m or so and requires no external housing to make it so. The quality at either 1080/30fps or 720/60fps (my personal choice) is excellent. Most reviews at the time said the image quality was most comparable to the GoPro Hero 2. It's super wide and captures everything very clearly. You can't change the battery but it records for well over two hours on a charge. It also comes with a host of connection options including strapping for the helmet and a handlebar mount. Many of the other companies don't offer you these extras so check out of the price of the whole package (including waterproofing for some) for whatever you choose before you decide how much this is going to cost you. I know you said £50 and the Polaroid is £99 or thereabouts but I thought I should throw it in to the pot anyways..
February 17, 201511 yr if you all willing to wait and put some money up front in November the cycliq fly 12 will be out. 10 hours of filming, reduced if you use the light function but looks good
February 17, 201511 yr Same short route as above, but at night time. Far wetter, muddy and slippery than it looks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwxZZ-ALzsQ
February 17, 201511 yr I like my Go Pro.. But as its bike mounted in can be powered from the bike and gives a good veiw.. especially when a scooter gets too close..
February 18, 201511 yr Just bought a Garmin Virb Elite for £119 off Amazon yesterday.. To add to the sjcams I have. Now I need to educate myself of their features other than on / off and record.
February 22, 201511 yr Still needs work. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/how-many-people-are-using-there-e-bike-off-road.15780/page-22#post-251897
February 24, 201511 yr I finally got round to trying my new camera mentioned above: http://www.myactioncamera.co.uk/shop/cameras/ac32-sport-plus/ It cost £80 at the Cycle show. It's a bit more than a camera because it has a GPS too and records the GPS data with the film, so it can do some interesting things. The manual is too complicated for me. It shows how to do work-outs and calories and stuff like that. I got this far, which is probably enough for most people: The blue line is elevation and the yellow is speed. The others are X, Y and Z acceleration, which might be useful to find out how much 20g hurts when you crash or what the terminal velocity of your bike is when you ride off a cliff. http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq236/d8veh/rides/camera_zpso1oz0ck1.jpg The quality seems pretty good right across the frame. I stopped the playback and took this screenshot: [http://i451.photobucket.com/albums/qq236/d8veh/rides/camera2_zpsy4unmmah.jpg It's waterprrof to 3 meters and has a 3 hour battery recording time. It comes with a handlebar mount , USB lead, 8gb memory card and USB card adapter. Not bad for £80. Now £160 on their website. Maybe you can haggle.
March 6, 201511 yr I've been playing with my new camera. You can synchronise the camera with the map. As the video plays, it shows your speed and position on the map, so I was able to see my speed down my favourite short hill. The hill is a lot of fun because you gather speed to a bend that always has gravel and wet patches that you have to dodge, so you have to be inch perfect on your line, and it takes real nerve to carry your speed round that bend because if you get it wrong, there's a big tree that you will hit. After that, you drop (30% gradient) to maximum speed for the next bend that you can straighten a bit by entering from the other side of the road. Here's your chance to do it via the video. I hit 70 km/hr today because the road was a bit drier than normal. It's surprising how straight it looks on the map. That first bend feels like a right angle when you ride round it.
March 6, 201511 yr Same short route as above, but at night time. Far wetter, muddy and slippery than it looks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwxZZ-ALzsQ Hi Eddie PJ, Firstly, you must be a brave soldier to be in that creepy woods 'all alone' at that time of the night or was that a mere camera trick? What do you use to power up the two main cree head lights? Is it a separate pack or is the power drawn from the main battery ? I am planning to do a video myself but not like you posh guys filming with cameras costing between £100-250. I'll just use my cheap three year old £20 spy camera glasses . MS.
March 6, 201511 yr Hi MS, I first read your post incorrectly and thought how the hell did you know that was heading onto MOD land. The rides very far more remote than that, as that was just the start. It's one of the reasons that I carry so much crap with me. I ride with another lad once or twice a week, then on my own perhaps two to three time a week. My camera can be bought from prices roughly ranging from £35.00 - £60.00. I have a friend who has a pair of those spy glasses, and uses them at Land Rover events that he takes part in. They are very good. edit.. Sorry MS, I forgot to mention the Cree Lights I have one of these with the single bulb. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151221241965?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT And one with three bulbs. The single bulb one came with a six battery pack, and three bulb with a four battery pack, so I swapped them over. Edited March 6, 201511 yr by EddiePJ
March 28, 201511 yr CNET review the new Xaiomi Yi, a higher-end Wifi cam which costs £43 in China at the moment. Looks pretty nice. http://www.cnet.com/uk/products/xiaomi-yi/
April 1, 201511 yr I bought mine on eBay for £35 and works great but only done some underwear stuff but quality is good
April 1, 201511 yr I bought mine on eBay for £35 and works great but only done some underwear stuff but quality is good That sounds interesting Jim
July 28, 201510 yr Sadly I managed to delete all of the holiday ride footage that I took, which was annoying, as I'd intentionally filmed some of the steep climbs. I just about had time before coming home, to nip back out and film a slowish 5 mile road descent. It's dull and uninteresting, the Suzuki Jeep slowed progress even further, and you might want to skip the first few minutes as that was just filmed to show my wife something. 5 miles up, 5 miles back down again. http://i973.photobucket.com/albums/ae217/eddiejefferies/Sulwald%20to%20Lauterbrunnen_zpsa8gsjaf2.jpg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSAYWrxNWZg

August 23, 201510 yr Not a helmet cam but a rear combi vid cam and light here is my first use of the Fly6 , wind noise/buffeting is quite noticeable which I found very disappointing. The speil says upto 6 hrs record depending on light setting and it records in 10 min segments. Also coming soon is the Fly12 a front triple combo of vid cam, upto 400 lumen led light and tamper alarm. Edited August 24, 201510 yr by Nealh

Seems pricey but have you found it to be worth it? Phill
September 18, 201510 yr Vid should work it plays ok with Win 10, It isn't cheap but the cost doesn't bother me as I can't take it with me. Disappointed with the wind buffeting on it but does give me piece of mind should someone get to close or ever have me off. The light has 4 modes and is very bright and vehicle plates are identified when pic is paused. Any cam can be mounted rearward but as this is a combi unit it doesn't shout cam, the Fly12 is expected to be around the 170 mark so may well get one. Mic is sensitive it picks up bike noise; the motor , gear shifting , better make sure I don't add extra wind noise. Edited September 19, 201510 yr by Nealh
