October 9, 20169 yr i could hot wire the one off my old light driver and try that thus why i ordered 2 but drivers are only a few quid anyway tbh for this power range as i dont want to blow a 100w cree led http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351840120328?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
October 9, 20169 yr This will do it and has very handy displays for you to see what is going on. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272097473122?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT You will need a reflector for the LED's.
October 9, 20169 yr Well Dave it would seem that your recommendation of a "New best light" has just provided yet another sale. As said previously, I loaned my light to a friend who also tries to ride several evenings/nights a week during the winter months, and his exact words were when he returned it this morning were "phenomenal" He now also has one on order. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161889168897?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT I'm actually putting the light back on my bike again to see if I can adjust to the whiter beam that it omits. As I actually prefer a more yellow beam, I might well try tinting the lens. So there you have it a £9.49 light, running from a six cell cheapo Chinese battery pack that it is now on it's third season of use in the harshest of wet, cold winter conditions, neglected and stored in a basic pack, and still easily able to provide a full evenings worth of hassle free night riding, without coming close to showing signs of fading or causing issue. It doesn't get any cheaper or efficient than that. Edited October 9, 20169 yr by EddiePJ
October 9, 20169 yr You could try those yellow tinted night driving glasses. I used to have them when riding my infamous BSA 125cc Bantam in the early 60's, and they seemed to make things brighter at night
October 9, 20169 yr I wear the safety spec version of those on a daily basis at work. I really like the way that they highlight and define shadow in low light conditions.
October 9, 20169 yr 10 or 100 watts? 10w as dont think ill get a bigger one in the front of the light and the cree 100w ones are 45 quid each. i just dont have a batt powerful enough for one of those yet http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272356871898?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT Edited October 9, 20169 yr by soundwave
October 9, 20169 yr Obviously the proof will be when I come to use the light on a ride tomorrow night, but just using a felt tip pen to tint appears to have made a massive difference when trying it out in our cellar a few moments ago. This one simple change could make a lot of difference to my use of the light. If it does work, I'll then use a permanent marker pen.
October 9, 20169 yr http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk37/necromunger666/DSC_0495.jpg i found my missing 1v so sag not that bad at all so the cells are good i fried that switch tho lol
October 9, 20169 yr So what caused the voltage drop? What happens to the voltage if you increase the current?
October 9, 20169 yr seems removing that switch fixed it? but just stuck the 5v 2a usb fan on it with the light on max and 8.1v
October 11, 20169 yr Ordered one of the lights a few weeks ago and it arrived today looks pretty impressive in the house but will see how it is on the way to work tomorrow morning.

October 11, 20169 yr Well I tried out the light this morning and I'm over the moon with it,particularly like the outer ring that you can have on constant or flashing by itself or along with the main light(which is unbelievably bright) also the size is really good, it takes up no room at all on the handlebars which can be a problem when you've got all the other stuff on there. Last thing, it also looks cool
